Tapbit

Tapbit is a centralized cryptocurrency exchange that specializes in derivatives trading, offering USDT-margined perpetual futures alongside a spot market for hundreds of digital assets. The platform launched in late 2021 under the name Billance, then rebranded as Tapbit in September 2022 as it broadened its product set to include perpetual contracts, copy trading, and automated grid strategies. As of mid-2026 it serves over 12 million registered users across 190+ countries and reports cumulative derivatives volume exceeding $7.3 trillion in 2025 alone.

How the Platform Works

Tapbit's core offering is USDT-margined perpetual futures. These are contracts with no expiration date that track the spot price of an underlying asset through a funding rate mechanism paid between long and short holders. Leverage is available up to 150x, though the maximum varies by trading pair and account tier. A multi-exchange pricing index underpins the mark price used for liquidations: rather than relying on a single price feed, Tapbit aggregates quotes from several major venues to reduce the risk of manipulation or flash-crash liquidations. An insurance fund covering up to $50 million absorbs losses from positions that go bankrupt before they can be liquidated, shielding solvent counterparties.

The spot market lists over 490 tokens with more than 544 trading pairs. Derivative and spot books are kept separate, so users can run spot and perp positions under the same account. Maker fees on perpetuals start at 0.02% and taker fees at 0.06%; spot trading fees are a flat 0.10% on both sides for standard accounts.

Beyond manual trading, Tapbit includes two automation tools. Copy trading lets users allocate capital to a selected trader's strategy and mirrors their entries and exits automatically, with the underlying strategy disclosure limited to historical performance metrics rather than full position transparency. Grid trading on perpetuals allows users to set a price range and order spacing so the system buys and sells automatically within that band, suitable for ranging markets.

Tokens, Assets, and Solana

Tapbit lists SOL/USDT on both its spot market and its perpetual futures market. Solana is therefore accessible for directional bets with leverage as well as straightforward spot purchases. The exchange has published educational content on Solana network events, indicating ongoing editorial attention to the Solana ecosystem.

The broader token catalog covers major layer-1 and layer-2 assets, DeFi tokens, memecoins, and newer listings. With 490+ tokens, Tapbit sits in a comparable range to mid-tier centralized exchanges, though exact liquidity depth per pair is not publicly disclosed in the trading interface.

Security and Audits

Tapbit has undergone a security evaluation by CertiK covering mobile apps, web front-end, and backend infrastructure. The most recent published CertiK review found no critical or high-severity vulnerabilities. The exchange maintains the industry-standard practice of holding 95%+ of user assets in cold storage and employs multi-signature wallet controls alongside SSL encryption across the platform.

Proof of Reserves is published in collaboration with Hacken, with the most recent attestation dating to October 2024. That report asserted 1:1 backing for user assets, with a published BTC reserve ratio of 2,341% and a USDT reserve ratio of 125%. Tapbit also maintains a live Proof of Reserves page intended to give users a continuously updated view of reserve ratios.

Independent security benchmarking gives the platform mixed marks. CoinGecko rates Tapbit's security posture at 7/10, and CER.live at 55/100; both note the absence of published penetration testing results as the main gap relative to tier-1 exchanges.

Regulatory Status

Tapbit is registered as a Money Services Business with FinCEN in the United States and holds an equivalent MSB registration with FINTRAC in Canada. It is also a member of the National Futures Association and holds a financial services license issued by the SVG Financial Services Authority in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The platform is incorporated in the United States, with its operational headquarters in Denver, Colorado.

Team and Leadership

Milton Cogo was appointed Chief Executive Officer effective April 1, 2026. Before becoming CEO, he served as corporate strategy consultant at Tapbit, where he led international positioning, institutional communications, and cross-border operational structure. The appointment coincided with the release of Tapbit's 2025 annual review, which reported 184.3% revenue growth year-over-year and outlined a Q2 2026 strategy centered on global community expansion, product deepening, and further regulatory compliance.

Context and Positioning

Tapbit occupies a competitive middle tier in the global centralized exchange market. It competes on fee structure — perpetuals maker fees at 0.02% undercut several larger venues — and on leverage ceiling (150x), but it lacks the market depth, brand recognition, and audit transparency of tier-1 venues.

For Solana ecosystem participants, Tapbit provides a venue to trade SOL perpetuals and spot without having to use a Solana-native DEX or a larger, more restrictive CEX. Its copy trading and grid features can be applied to SOL pairs, and the platform's content output on Solana-related topics suggests it treats SOL as a tier-1 asset in its market coverage.
