Solana Beach
What Is Solana Beach?
Solana Beach (solanabeach.io) is a free, real-time blockchain explorer and analytics platform for the Solana network. Launched in March 2020 and built by institutional staking operator Staking Facilities, it was designed from the start not as a general-purpose block scanner but as a specialist tool for the people who run and stake on the network: validators, delegators, and institutional stakers.
Where most Solana explorers serve general users verifying a transaction or checking a wallet balance, Solana Beach leads with validator-layer data. Its homepage surfaces the current leader schedule, live TPS split between vote and non-vote transactions, epoch progress, slot time distribution, and an at-a-glance view of stake concentration across active validators. That focus has made it a primary dashboard for operators who need to track network health and staking performance in real time.
How It Works
Solana Beach connects directly to Solana mainnet (and supported test environments) to index and serve on-chain data. The explorer requires no account creation; all search and analytics functionality is free and public. A public API is maintained on GitHub under the solana-beach organization, allowing developers to query the same underlying data programmatically — the repository had 85 stars as of early 2026.
Users can search any Solana address, transaction signature, token mint, or block. The platform decodes transaction instructions into human-readable form, displays SOL balances and SPL token holdings for addresses, and shows token mint data including supply, decimals, and holder distribution.
Validator Analytics
Solana Beach's primary differentiator is its validator analytics layer. The explorer goes beyond listing validator nodes to visualize stake concentration patterns across the network, including the "superminority" threshold — the smallest group of validators that controls enough stake to threaten liveness. Displaying this threshold makes it easy for delegators and governance participants to assess decentralization risk at a glance.
Key validator features include:
- Leader schedule visualization: real-time view of which validator is producing blocks and the upcoming schedule, updated to reflect 300ms slot timing
- Stake distribution: visualized breakdown of how active stake is allocated across validators, with concentration metrics
- Commission and uptime tracking: per-validator commission rates, block production history, and skip rate
- Superminority analysis: visual flagging of validators in the superminority, supporting informed delegation decisions
- Delinquent stake monitoring: current figures for stake assigned to validators that are not voting or producing blocks
As of mid-2026, the platform tracked 782 active validators, 4,056 RPC nodes, and approximately 429.3 million SOL in total active stake — around 68.4% of circulating supply. Delinquent stake stood at roughly 1.23 million SOL (0.29% of total).
Staking and Network Analytics
Beyond validator tracking, Solana Beach provides staking analytics that let institutional stakers and yield-focused delegators verify reward rates and fee structures. Features include:
- Epoch-level reward data: per-epoch staking yield data for yield calculations
- Staking flow analysis: charts and heatmaps showing how stake moves between validators and across epochs
- Compute unit usage: historical charts of block compute utilization, useful for assessing network capacity trends
- Slot time distribution: statistical view of how slot times vary, relevant as Solana targets 200ms slots
- TPS tracking: separate measurement of vote transactions and non-vote (user) transactions — in mid-2026, non-vote TPS ran around 883 against a total figure above 2,600
Team and Staking Facilities
Solana Beach was built and is maintained by Staking Facilities, a German institutional staking operator active on Solana since the network's early days. Staking Facilities runs its own Solana validator alongside the explorer. As of August 2026, the Solana Beach validator was running the full Firedancer client (v1.1.4) on mainnet, with an Agave-based hot-spare in a separate data center — both on custom bare-metal hardware. This dual-client, dual-datacenter configuration reflects the team's infrastructure-first approach.
The Solana Beach validator has participated in Solana governance, voting in favor of SGP-1, SGP-2, and SGP-3 when those proposals were put to validators.
Solana Ecosystem Fit
Solana Beach occupies a specific niche within the Solana explorer landscape. General-purpose explorers like Solscan and the official Solana Explorer serve casual transaction lookups and developer debugging. Solana Beach serves the validator and staking layer: operators running network infrastructure, delegators choosing between validators, and institutional stakers tracking yield and risk.
The platform's March 2020 launch means it has tracked Solana through its entire lifecycle — from testnet-era activity through mainnet launch and the infrastructure upgrades that followed. That longitudinal coverage gives it historical depth that newer explorers cannot match.
Access is entirely free, with no subscription required and no wallet connection needed to view network data. The public API on GitHub allows developers to build on the same data layer that powers the explorer interface. Browsing and searching are fully open, with no rate-limiting visible to standard users.
