Project 89

Project 89 is an alternate reality game (ARG) run partly by AI agents, with a companion token, PROJECT89, on Solana. It is unrelated to Vietnam's Project 89 scholarship programme. The story says humanity lives inside a simulation run by Oneirocom, an AI megacorporation, and players act as agents of a resistance. The founder goes by Parzival (@whyarethis). In 2024 he called PROJECT89 "a meme coin... an AI coin... and an ARG coin". As of October 2026, a new version of the game is in user testing. A token burn started in late September and runs for 90 days.

What is the Project 89 ARG?

An alternate reality game tells its story across websites, social posts, chat servers and real-world tasks, rather than inside one app. Project 89's version is built on that idea.

The Agents Guide is written as the handbook of a secret society. It has chapters on "The Nature of Reality", "Techniques of Reality Manipulation" and "Tools of the Trade". Alongside them sit in-world texts such as the Project 89 Manifesto, The 89 Tenets, Transmissions from the Founder and The Glitch Prophecies. The project's goal is the "Optimal Timeline": a future where AI helps humanity instead of extracting from it.

The whitepaper is still at version 0.01. It calls the project a "Reality Engineering Initiative" that combines AI swarm intelligence with human creativity through missions and a decentralized web of trust. It has no tokenomics, team details or dated roadmap.

How does the Project 89 game work?

The plan is for AI agents to run the game, not a human writing team. Its technical base is argOS, an open-source TypeScript framework for AI agent simulations. argOS uses an Entity Component System design, and its repository was last updated in July 2026.

The docs' AI Leader Protocol describes how missions would work. AI Leaders work from personal command centers inside a coordination layer called the HIVEMIND. They write mission chains that run for weeks or months: gathering intelligence, documenting phenomena, making propaganda and carrying out real-world activities. Players would be paid in tokens when they complete missions.

The docs name the reward token "$P89" and say other project tokens could be swapped into it to fund missions. We found no evidence that $P89 has launched. The token that actually trades is PROJECT89.

The Timeline Portal at beta.project89.org is the live entry point. It invites visitors to "deploy AI agents against dystopia".

Project 89 game testing and new content in 2026

Several things have changed since August 2026, according to the project's X account:

• Game user testing. "User testing has commenced," Project 89 posted on September 21, 2026. The post quoted team member @0xceta sharing a first look at the new game. There is no release date yet.
• Liminal Zone. This is a series of short videos. A new episode goes out on X most days. Episode 37 came out on October 13, 2026.
• Agent Handbook films. In October 2026 the project began a run of 89 short films based on its Agent Handbook. Each one is a small lesson on attention, curiosity or teamwork. A character called Anonobob presents them.

The code side is busy too. The GitHub page now calls Project 89 "an open research collective". Its big idea is that "coherence" sits at the root of intelligence and matter. In August 2026 it added veritas, a free tool that tracks how state media, public broadcasters and independent outlets tell the same story. A physics repo and one called super-brain were also updated between August and October.

Project89 token burn: 200M tokens over 90 days

Project 89 announced the burn with a "09.21.26" teaser. On September 21, 2026 it posted "The burn begins. 90 days. 200M tokens", with a link to the first burn transaction on Solscan. If it runs to plan, the burn ends around late December 2026.

The burn is meant to be automated and daily. On September 24 the team said it was "calibrating automation". Burns then paused because of what it called "technical difficulties", and resumed on October 3. On October 11 it posted "The burn continues daily", with another transaction link.

The announcements do not say which wallet the burned tokens come from. Aggregators list total supply at about 1.37 billion PROJECT89, so 200 million would be roughly 15% of it. Check live supply on the token widget, which updates as burns land.

PROJECT89 migration and contract address

The current PROJECT89 contract address is CJjraBaedPnKzjnag12i7PVo5pSP6cB9heV8zr89bonk.

The token first launched on Pump.fun in 2024 under the mint Bz4MhmVRQENiCou7ZpJ575wpjNFjBjVBSiVhuNg1pump. On September 25, 2025, Project 89 opened "The Great Migration" to a new token launched through BonkFun, with the swap run by the MigrateFun platform. The portal closed on October 4, 2025, with "no extensions". Holders who migrated before the deadline got a 1.25x bonus, airdropped afterwards. CoinEx swapped balances held on the exchange 1:1.

The old Pump.fun mint still trades in thin pools, which leaves two tokens with near-identical names. Only the address above is the current one.

Green Loom Association and Project 89 funding

The Green Loom Association is the body behind Project 89. Token listings describe it as a Swiss non-profit. It receives the token's trading fees and spends them on the franchise and on AI tools. The 2025 migration post said the move would fund "our anime" and "our global impact via The Green Loom Association". We could not find a public filing or financial report for the association.

Project 89 NFTs

The docs plan a Genesis NFT collection of 10,000 anime-style characters. Each NFT would be a key to the HIVEMIND and a player identity that changes as you finish missions. Holders would also get early access to missions and events. The mint is tied to a HIVEMIND beta, with no date. We found no official word that it has minted.

Who is Project 89 for?

Project 89 suits fans of ARGs, shared fiction and AI storytelling. You need to be happy following a story across X, Discord and GitBook. The lore, the videos and the research are all free to follow.

It is a poor fit if you want a finished game or a token backed by revenue. As of October 2026 the game is still in testing. The missions and NFTs in the docs have not shipped. PROJECT89 trades as a small, thinly traded memecoin. Buying it is a bet that the team delivers, not a payment for a working product.

Is Project 89 safe? Risks to know

• Anonymous team. The founder posts as Parzival, and the docs and whitepaper name no team. You would have no one to hold accountable if the project stalled.
• Unshipped roadmap. HIVEMIND missions, the $P89 reward token, the Genesis NFTs and the anime are all described in the docs, but none is publicly live. The whitepaper has stayed at version 0.01.
• Thin token liquidity. PROJECT89 began as a Pump.fun memecoin and trades thinly, so even modest orders can move the price sharply. Check the price and liquidity widgets before trading.
• Old-mint confusion. The pre-migration Pump.fun mint still trades. Buying it by mistake gets you a token the project no longer supports, and the migration window has closed.
• Unclear burn source. The burn shrinks supply, but the team has not published which wallet funds it or what it holds.
• Stale official links. project89.org shows a "Coming Soon" page, and token.project89.org returned a 404 in October 2026. Use the GitBook, GitHub and @project_89 on X as the official channels, and be wary of anything else claiming to be Project 89. That includes claim or points pages: we found no claim programme on the official channels.
• No audit. Project 89 lists no on-chain programs of its own, and we found no audit of any Project 89 code. Its claim that the migration was "audited" refers to the MigrateFun platform, not Project 89.

Project 89 history

Parzival's October 2024 post framed the token as a way to tell the Project 89 story "with a new medium". The PROJECT89 token traded on Solana from late 2024 as part of that year's wave of AI-agent tokens. It moved to its new contract in October 2025. Since then the project has added its open-source research arm and, in September 2026, started testing a new game build and its 200-million-token burn.
