RWA Marketplace

A multi-chain aggregation platform enabling users to discover, trade, and fractionalize tokenized real-world assets across various categories including trade finance, real estate, treasuries, structured credit, and collectibles. The platform aggregates assets from multiple originators and protocols, providing cross-chain access and secondary liquidity for previously illiquid assets through the ERC-6960 token standard.

Polytrade

Polytrade is a multi-chain real-world asset (RWA) marketplace and trade-finance protocol that enables investors to discover, purchase, sell, and fractionalize tokenized assets ranging from treasury bills to trade-finance invoices. Founded in 2021 in Dubai by trade-finance veteran Piyush Gupta, the platform bridges institutional-grade real-world capital markets with on-chain infrastructure, positioning itself as "The Home of RWAs."

Core Protocol

Polytrade operates across three interconnected business lines. The RWA Marketplace is a permissionless venue where retail and institutional investors can buy and sell tokenized assets backed by real-world collateral. Trade Finance connects small and medium-sized businesses seeking working capital with on-chain lenders, enabling invoice financing at scale. Institutional Technology provides the underlying infrastructure — smart contracts, compliance tooling, and the token standard — to issuers and platforms that need to put real-world assets on-chain.

The protocol's foundational innovation is ERC-6960, a dual-layer hierarchical token standard that Polytrade pioneered. Existing formats like ERC-721 (non-fungible) and ERC-1155 (multi-token) cannot simultaneously represent a single asset and its many fractional shares with a coherent relational structure. ERC-6960 solves this by assigning each tokenized asset a main ID (the root asset) and any number of sub IDs (fractional shares), allowing a single invoice, real-estate parcel, or T-bill to be subdivided into investor-owned fractions that retain their relationship to the parent asset. This structure enables on-chain fractionalization, cross-chain bridging, and the use of tokenized RWAs as collateral — all within one token standard designed for the compliance and provenance requirements of real-world finance.

Supported Assets and Access

Polytrade's marketplace lists tokenized assets across several categories: treasury bills, credit instruments, equities, trade-finance invoices, structured finance products, real estate, commodities, art, and luxury goods. Investors purchase assets using USDC, with fiat payment support planned. Platform fees are currently set to zero to encourage early adoption, with future adjustments planned to sustain operations. No mandatory KYC is imposed at the marketplace level, though users are expected to comply with their own jurisdictions' regulations.

Multi-Chain Architecture and Solana

Polytrade deploys ERC-6960 on EVM-compatible chains — Ethereum and Polygon being the primary settlement layers — and supports cross-chain bridging that extends to Solana, BNB Chain, Avalanche, and Ethereum Layer 2 networks. Solana users can interact with and hold Polytrade-issued tokenized RWAs through this cross-chain layer, connecting Solana's growing liquidity base to a curated set of institutional-grade assets without requiring Solana-native contract deployments. As Solana's RWA ecosystem has crossed $3.6 billion in total value (early 2026, up from $1.4 billion at the start of 2025), platforms like Polytrade that extend cross-chain RWA access to Solana users are an increasingly relevant part of that infrastructure stack.

Security Model

Polytrade's security architecture centers on several layers of protection for buyers. Asset originators are required to contribute capital to a first-loss pool, which absorbs initial losses from defaults before buyers are exposed. Third-party validators and a structured due-diligence process independently assess each originator before their assets appear on the marketplace. Smart contracts undergo regular audits, and asset originator verification is an ongoing requirement rather than a one-time gate. These layered controls distinguish the platform from open tokenization venues that impose no issuance standards.

TRADE Token

TRADE is Polytrade's native governance and utility token. It serves as the primary payment instrument within the ecosystem and grants holders participation rights in platform governance. As of mid-2025, TRADE trades at approximately $0.03 with a circulating supply of around 41 million tokens and a market capitalization near $1.3 million — a figure that reflects the protocol's still-early stage rather than its operational scope.

Team and Backing

Polytrade was founded by Piyush Gupta, whose prior experience includes Riqueza Capital, a Hong Kong-based invoice-financing company established in 2014 that had processed over $500 million in invoices for SME sellers before the blockchain pivot. The project raised $5 million across three funding rounds from investors including Alpha Wave Global, Matrix Partners, Polygon Ventures, and CoinSwitch Ventures. Strategic backers include Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal and QuickSwap co-founder Sameep Singhania. Mastercard and Polygon are among the platform's named strategic partners, lending institutional weight to its compliance and distribution ambitions.

Current Status

As of mid-2025, Polytrade is undergoing a significant platform transition. The main domain (polytrade.finance, now redirecting to polytrade.app) displays a teaser announcing a new AI-native version of the platform — described as "a brand-new Polytrade, built to think." The marketplace documentation and underlying GitBook infrastructure remain accessible during this transition. The TRADE token continues to trade on secondary markets with meaningful daily volume, and the project retains active institutional backing. The relaunch frames the next iteration as an evolution built on the existing RWA infrastructure rather than a wind-down, with artificial intelligence positioned as a native layer of the product rather than a bolt-on feature.
