Lume Platform

Lume Platform is a DeFi strategy layer that automates crypto investing through embedded wallets, enabling users to stake assets, trade perpetuals via Hyperliquid, and discover tokens through gamified interfaces. The platform uses Privy wallet infrastructure to provide seamless onboarding without seed phrases while supporting prediction markets and cross-protocol DeFi strategies on Solana.

Lume Finance

Lume Finance is a Solana-native DeFi gateway that combines tokenized U.S. equities, leveraged perpetuals, prediction markets, and memecoin trading into a single mobile-first application. Founded in April 2025 and operating under the tagline "Trade the Market. Bet the Strategy. Build Influence," the platform is designed to tear down the geographic and institutional barriers that have historically kept global retail investors away from U.S. capital markets.

The Problem

Owning U.S. stocks from outside the United States has long required navigating a stack of friction: country-specific brokerage agreements, multi-day settlement windows, wire transfer costs, currency conversion spreads, and identity verification processes that reject users in large parts of the world. At the same time, the DeFi landscape has remained fragmented — users who want to trade perpetuals, buy real-world assets, participate in prediction markets, and swap memecoins must manage four different interfaces, wallets, and risk models. Lume's thesis is that both problems are solved by the same underlying infrastructure: programmable assets settled on a high-throughput, low-cost blockchain.

Core Mechanism: xStocks

The foundational product is xStocks — tokenized representations of publicly traded U.S. equities issued as SPL tokens on Solana. Lume acts as a non-custodial interface over assets issued by Backed Finance and Ondo Finance, two regulated third-party providers. Backed Finance, registered under the Swiss DLT Act, maintains the underlying shares in licensed, segregated custodial accounts; each xStock token corresponds 1:1 to a real share held in regulated custody.

At launch the platform supports 60 assets: 55 individual stocks including Apple, NVIDIA, Tesla, and GameStop, alongside 5 ETFs. Users can take fractional positions starting at one dollar. Because xStocks are SPL tokens living on-chain, they trade 24 hours a day, seven days a week — independent of NYSE or Nasdaq opening hours. Dividends are not distributed as cash; instead they are reinvested automatically by purchasing additional xStock tokens, compounding the position. Token holders do not receive shareholder voting rights or other corporate governance privileges, as the xStocks convey price exposure rather than direct equity ownership.

Within Solana's DeFi ecosystem, xStocks are integrated with Raydium as the primary AMM for on-chain liquidity, Jupiter for best-execution routing, and Kamino for collateral pool deposits — giving the tokens immediate composability with the broader Solana stack.

Perpetuals

Beyond tokenized equities, Lume provides access to leveraged perpetual futures with up to 50x on bitcoin, ether, the S&P 500, gold, and oil. These perpetuals are executed on Hyperliquid, an independent third-party on-chain perpetuals protocol. Lume is not the counterparty to these trades, does not operate the order book or the matching engine, and does not control the underlying smart contracts. The integration surfaces the Hyperliquid venue inside the Lume application so users can manage spot xStock positions and high-leverage derivatives from the same wallet and interface.

Prediction Markets and MemeSwipe

The platform is actively extending into two additional product surfaces. Prediction markets — modeled on the Polymarket mechanic — are being brought into the Lume app on Solana, allowing users to take positions on real-world event outcomes within the same experience they use for equity trading. A separate feature called MemeSwipe presents a Tinder-style swipe interface for automated memecoin trading, translating an entertainment-native interaction pattern into on-chain execution.

Onboarding and Access

Lume's onboarding is handled through Privy, a wallet infrastructure provider. Users sign up with an email address, a Google account, or an Apple ID; receive a one-time verification code; and have a Solana smart-account wallet provisioned automatically. No seed phrase management is required at account creation, though users can export their private keys at any time from wallet settings for full self-custody.

Fiat on-ramp support covers 27 jurisdictions through multiple payment rails: UPI for India, AED card and bank transfer for the UAE, naira bank transfers for Nigeria, SEPA for European users, and credit or debit cards broadly. Once funded, accounts hold SOL or USDC as base assets, with positions settled on-chain in under a second for a fraction of a cent in fees.

Rewards and Engagement Layer

Lume operates a tiered engagement system built around Lume XP, a non-transferable in-app points currency with no monetary value. Users earn XP through trading activity, daily app opens, social posts, referrals, and seasonal quests. XP accumulation advances accounts through tiers — from Wood at the entry level up to the Lume tier — with each tier multiplying the rate at which rewards accrue and unlocking fee discounts. Separately, a referral program pays a 40% share of eligible fees generated by referred users. Weekly and seasonal trading rewards are distributed based on volume and tier standing.

Token

The Lume documentation references a native $LUME token with its own tokenomics and distribution schedule, though detailed allocation breakdowns were not publicly available at publication.

Legal Structure and Security Model

Two legal entities co-operate the platform. The Lume Foundation, a non-profit DAO LLC registered in the Marshall Islands, operates the underlying protocol. LumeFi Inc., a Delaware corporation, builds and maintains the application and website. Neither entity acts as a broker-dealer, exchange, custodian, or trade counterparty. Lume explicitly does not hold user funds, custody private keys in any recoverable form, or serve as a principal to trades executed on Hyperliquid or other integrated protocols.

The platform acknowledges the standard smart-contract risk profile applicable to any DeFi application — bugs, design flaws, or unforeseen interactions can result in loss of funds even in audited contracts. Because Lume does not author or control the smart contracts of the third-party protocols it surfaces (Hyperliquid, Backed Finance, Ondo Finance), users bear the risks associated with each external protocol independently.

Solana Ecosystem Fit

Lume is a direct expression of Solana's 2025 RWA momentum. The xStocks format — SPL tokens with sub-second finality and sub-cent transaction costs — is only practical on infrastructure capable of handling continuous, high-frequency price settlement. The platform's integration with Raydium, Jupiter, and Kamino extends tokenized equities into DeFi-native use cases: liquidity provision, best-execution swap routing, and on-chain collateral. By packaging tokenized equities, leveraged derivatives, prediction markets, and memecoin access into a single mobile application with email-based onboarding, Lume Finance positions itself as a retail on-ramp designed to absorb users who have never interacted with a hardware wallet or a DEX.
