What Incredibuild Is and the Problem It Solves

Software development teams at scale spend enormous amounts of time waiting. A complex C++ codebase at a gaming studio or automotive software company can take hours to compile, and every CI/CD pipeline run multiplies that cost across every developer and every push. Incredibuild was founded in 2002 with one core insight: most organizations already own the compute capacity to eliminate these delays — it sits idle in workstations, servers, and cloud instances across the network.

Incredibuild functions as a distributed execution layer that intercepts compilation and other parallelizable tasks and redistributes them across available machines in real time. What takes one machine two hours can be completed in minutes across dozens of idle CPUs. The platform is marketed as a universal acceleration layer for both human developers and AI coding agents operating in automated pipelines.

How It Works

The core mechanism behind Incredibuild is its distributed build engine (historically called XGE, or Xbox Game Engine-compatible, reflecting its deep roots in game development tooling). When a developer triggers a build, Incredibuild intercepts the compiler invocations and farms individual translation units — source files being compiled — out to helper machines across the network. These helpers return compiled object files, and the originating machine assembles the final binary. The process is transparent to the build system and requires no changes to source code or project configuration.

Beyond raw distribution, Incredibuild maintains a Build Cache: a shared, organization-wide cache of compiled artifacts keyed to source file content and compiler flags. When a file has not changed between builds, the cached output is reused rather than recompiled, eliminating redundant work even in distributed scenarios.

A newer addition, Islo Sandbox, provides an isolated execution layer for AI coding agents. As AI-generated code becomes more prevalent in development workflows, Islo allows automated agents to build and validate code changes in a sandboxed environment at scale, without clogging shared CI infrastructure.

Key Features

Distributed Processing: Routes compilation tasks and other parallelizable workloads to idle CPUs across an organization's network or cloud. Supported build systems include MSBuild, Make, GMake, SCons, CMake, and Gradle.

Build Cache: Shared artifact cache prevents redundant compilation across teams. Cache hits are served without recompilation regardless of which machine initiates the build.

CI Acceleration Runners: Fully managed CI runner infrastructure, claimed to deliver up to 8x faster pipeline throughput compared to standard runners. Integrates with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, TeamCity, and Bamboo.

Analytics and Observability: The Incredibuild Console provides dashboards for build-time analysis, bottleneck identification, and root cause investigation across both local builds and CI pipelines.

Build Guard: Automatically generates Software Bills of Materials (SBOM) as an audit-ready artifact for software supply chain security compliance.

Islo Sandbox: An AI agent execution layer for continuous automated development, launched in May 2026.

Supported Environments and Languages

Incredibuild supports Windows, Linux, and macOS build environments, as well as cloud-native deployments. Supported programming languages include C, C++, C#, Java, and Rust. The platform has been embedded natively in Visual Studio since 2015 and supports cross-platform build flows including Android (AOSP) and game engine shader compilation for Unity and other engines.

Target Industries and Notable Clients

Incredibuild has its deepest roots in game development, where C++ compilation of large codebases is a persistent pain point. The company also serves automotive software teams, semiconductor firms, and financial services organizations. Documented clients include Adobe, Bandai Namco Studios, Cerence, and HSBC.

Team and Background

Incredibuild was founded in Israel in 2002 and has operated continuously for more than two decades. In March 2025, the company appointed Shimon Hasson as CEO. In November 2025, Incredibuild acquired Kypso, expanding its platform capabilities. The company holds ISO 9001 (quality management) and ISO 27001 (information security) certifications.

As of late 2026, Incredibuild continues active product development and attended Tokyo Game Show 2026 in September 2026 with new announcements for game developers and studios.

Security and Compliance

Incredibuild's ISO 27001 certification covers its information security management system, relevant for enterprise customers routing proprietary source code through distributed build infrastructure. The Build Guard feature addresses software supply chain compliance by producing SBOM documentation automatically as part of the build process.

Ecosystem Context

Incredibuild operates in the developer tooling and DevOps acceleration space. No connection to the Solana blockchain, smart contracts, or on-chain activity was identified in publicly available sources as of September 2026. The platform is a traditional enterprise software product focused on build engineering performance. Its potential relevance to Solana developers is indirect: teams building Rust-based Solana programs with large codebases could benefit from its compilation acceleration, as Rust is among the supported languages.
