About

E Money Network

E Money Network is a public permissioned Layer 1 blockchain that embeds regulatory compliance -- including Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and the EU's Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) framework -- directly into the protocol layer, positioning itself as infrastructure for a category it calls BankFi: the convergence of traditional banking and decentralized finance. Most blockchain networks leave compliance as an afterthought, delegating identity verification to individual applications built on top, which creates fragmented regulatory coverage and legal uncertainty particularly in regulated markets like the European Union. E Money Network solves this by making identity verification a base-layer protocol requirement: every participant must complete verified KYC before transacting and the resulting attestations are stored on-chain and shared across all applications on the network. Technically, E Money Network is built on the Cosmos SDK using Tendermint BFT proof-of-stake consensus. The chain is EVM-compatible so Ethereum-native smart contracts deploy with minimal modification, supports WebAssembly (WASM) for flexible contract execution, and integrates Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) for cross-chain asset transfers within the Cosmos ecosystem. Cross-chain connectivity beyond Cosmos is provided by Chainbridge contracts enabling trustless bridges to Polygon, Solana, and Avalanche. The Solana bridge is the primary integration point between E Money Network and the Solana ecosystem, allowing assets and liquidity to move between the two chains. The compliance architecture uses four protocol-level modules: KYC for individual identity verification, KYB for entity-level business verification, KYO for proof-of-ownership of assets, and KYT for transaction monitoring against AML standards. These modules are pre-built into the stack and available to all developers on the network. The network aligns with the FATF Travel Rule and is not available to US users. E Money Wallet is the flagship product: a multichain wallet with Sumsub-powered KYC onboarding and planned on-chain IBAN integration, which would allow users to mint e-money tokens directly from fiat and use the wallet like a standard bank account. An address-whitelisting mechanism supports institutional-grade access control. EPay is a payment infrastructure module for compliant payment flows. E Money Card is a planned crypto spending card. The native token is EMYC, with a Token Generation Event completed on January 23, 2025. The network natively supports e-money tokens -- fiat-backed digital currencies -- with eEUR as the initial euro-denominated example, plus RWA tokenization and NFTs. E Money Network raised 5.2 million USD from institutional investors, with Animoca Brands as lead validator, alongside GBV Capital, Momentum 6, and Blockchain Founders Fund. Animoca Brands' validator role suggests a roadmap extending into gaming economies and digital IP marketplaces alongside the BankFi core. Testnet launched July 2024; mainnet development is ongoing. E Money Network sits at the intersection of MiCA-driven regulated stablecoin demand, real-world asset tokenization, and cross-chain liquidity infrastructure, targeting developers and institutions that need a compliance-ready foundation without building it independently. Its Cosmos SDK base and IBC integration connect it to the Cosmos ecosystem, while EVM compatibility and the Solana bridge provide access to the broader multi-chain landscape and Solana's high-throughput DeFi ecosystem.
