About

Donut

Donut is an agentic AI trading platform built to act as a personal quant for crypto traders — monitoring markets around the clock, reasoning across on-chain signals and off-chain data, and autonomously executing trades across Solana DeFi, perpetual futures, and prediction markets without requiring constant user attention.

What Donut Does

Traditional crypto trading tools surface information but leave execution to the user. Donut's core thesis is that AI agents should close the loop: they should not only surface an opportunity but act on it. The platform describes its core operation as an "Agentic Loop" cycling through four phases — Alert, Analyze, Execute, and Control — repeating continuously as long as the user sets parameters and grants execution permissions.

Users interact with Donut through natural language. A trader can instruct the agent in plain English to monitor a token, set entry and exit conditions, and execute the resulting strategy. The platform then handles chart analysis, risk calculation, and on-chain execution automatically. Interactions are available across a dashboard, Telegram bot, CLI, and voice interface, giving users multiple ways to stay connected to their running agents.

Products and Access Modes

Donut launched with a suite of access surfaces:

  • Chrome Extension — Overlays AI market analysis directly onto pages a user already visits, such as DEX interfaces or data dashboards.
  • Web App — A full dashboard for managing agents, reviewing positions, setting strategies, and monitoring portfolio performance.
  • Mobile App — Mobile-native access to alerts, agent status, and execution controls.
  • Chromium Browser — A purpose-built, crypto-native browser that integrates wallet management and on-chain context at the browser layer rather than as an add-on.

This multi-surface approach positions Donut as an environment rather than a single product — the goal being that a user's AI trading layer persists regardless of where they are browsing or trading.

Trading Capabilities

Donut's execution capabilities span multiple asset classes and chains:

  • Spot Trading — Integrated with Jupiter, the primary Solana DEX aggregator, for token swaps across Solana's liquidity layer.
  • Perpetuals — Donut Perps offers up to 150x leverage, with HyperLiquid also accessible through the platform.
  • DeFi Yield — Integrations with Kamino, Meteora, Sanctum, and Pendle let the agent manage yield positions, including liquidity provision and liquid staking strategies.
  • Prediction Markets — Polymarket, DFlow, and Allora are accessible for users who want agent-driven exposure to event-based markets.
  • Advanced Strategies — Grid trading, funding-rate arbitrage, dollar-cost averaging, and conditional swaps can be scheduled and automated.
  • Cross-Chain — Beyond Solana, Donut supports seven EVM-compatible networks, allowing agents to operate across ecosystems.

Risk management tools include configurable permissions, take-profit/stop-loss settings, and a real-time risk evaluation layer that the agent applies before executing orders.

Solana Ecosystem Fit

Solana is Donut's primary home. Jupiter serves as the default spot execution venue, and multiple Solana-native yield and staking protocols appear in the platform's integrations. The platform's early positioning emphasized Solana's speed and low transaction costs as particularly suited to the high-frequency, autonomous execution model that agentic trading requires. Solana ecosystem participants also joined as investors and advisors during the fundraise.

Team

Donut Labs was founded by Chris Zhu, who described the product vision as building "your personal AI quant inside a browser." The founding team draws from backgrounds at Meta AI, TikTok AI, and Tencent AI. Advisors include NYU Stern Professor Xi Chen and former Meta AI researcher Tim Fan.

Funding

Donut Labs raised $22 million across pre-seed and seed rounds completed within six months of the company's founding, a pace that reflects strong early investor conviction. The pre-seed round of $7 million was led by Hongshan (formerly Sequoia China), BITKRAFT, and Hack VC. The broader seed round added Makers Fund, Sky9 Capital, HSG, and additional strategic backers from across the Solana ecosystem.

The company reported over 160,000 waitlist signups before product launch, indicating significant market demand ahead of public availability.

Pricing and Access

Donut operates on a subscription model rather than per-trade fees or a native token mechanism. Two tiers are offered:

  • D0 — $69 per month, or discounted on an annual plan.
  • D0 Pro — $199 per month, described as the most popular tier, with a 7-day free trial available for both.

As of the available information, Donut has not issued a token. The subscription model funds operations directly, though the platform's multi-chain scope and DeFi integration depth suggest token incentive structures could follow as the product matures.

Context and Positioning

Donut entered a competitive but nascent market for agentic trading infrastructure. The broader thesis — that AI agents will increasingly handle routine DeFi execution rather than users manually clicking through interfaces — is shared by several projects, but Donut's decision to embed the agent layer inside a browser environment differentiates it from pure API or bot-based competitors. The browser-native approach means Donut can read page context, observe on-chain activity, and execute within the same environment a trader already uses, rather than requiring a separate terminal or API key setup.

The platform is live and accepting subscribers, with an active waitlist pipeline and continued development of the Chromium-based browser as a longer-term product category.
