Dework

Dework is a Web3-native project management platform designed for decentralized autonomous organizations and distributed contributor networks. Launched in November 2021, it combines task and bounty management, on-chain token payments, and contributor credentialing into a single interface, addressing the gap left by conventional tools like Trello and Asana that have no native concept of blockchain-based compensation or verifiable work history.

Problem and Purpose

Traditional project management tools were built for employed teams operating through payroll and organizational hierarchy. DAOs and crypto-native projects operate differently: contributors may be pseudonymous, work across multiple organizations simultaneously, expect payment in native tokens rather than fiat, and have no shared HR system to establish credibility. Dework is built around these realities. Organizations can coordinate work and pay contributors without requiring identity verification or bank accounts, while contributors accumulate a portable on-chain work record as they complete tasks.

How It Works

Work on Dework is organized through a hierarchy of workspaces, spaces, and tasks, with Kanban-style boards as the primary visual interface. Organizations — typically DAOs, protocols, or Web3 projects — create tasks and attach token bounties to them. Those tasks can be opened to the community in several ways:

• Application-based: Contributors submit proposals and a project lead reviews credentials before assigning the task.
• Open submissions: Anyone can submit completed work and the organization reviews output before triggering payment.
• Gated claiming: Task access is restricted to wallet holders meeting specific criteria — particular token holdings, NFT ownership, or roles assigned within the platform.

Tasks can include subtasks, be grouped into projects, and be converted into roadmap views for longer planning horizons. Organizations can use task templates to standardize recurring work.

When a task is complete and approved, payment is sent directly to the contributor's connected wallet. Dework integrates with Gnosis Safe to support batch payment flows, which allows project treasuries to execute multiple payouts in a single on-chain transaction, reducing gas overhead. There is no escrow mechanism within Dework itself; the platform connects to existing wallet infrastructure and initiates payments through those systems rather than holding funds on behalf of users.

Supported Networks and Tokens

Dework supports more than 20 blockchain networks, including Ethereum, Solana, Optimism, Polygon, and others. Payments can be denominated in any on-chain token supported by those networks, including DAO-native governance tokens, USDC, ETH, SOL, MATIC, and DAI. The multi-token bounty feature allows organizations to offer rewards composed of multiple token types within a single task. The platform supports wallet connections through MetaMask, WalletConnect, Phantom (Solana), and Hiro (Stacks).

Key Integrations

Dework connects to Discord, GitHub, and Notion, enabling workflow automation across the tools most DAO contributor communities already use. The Discord integration allows task notifications, role-based access syncing, and contributor onboarding directly from community servers. GitHub integration supports linking tasks to code contributions for projects where development work is the primary bounty type. Gnosis Safe integration underpins the batch payment capability and connects to DAO treasury management setups that are common in the Ethereum and multi-chain DAO ecosystem.

Contributor Credentialing

A distinguishing feature of the platform is its contributor profile system. Each completed task is recorded against a user's Dework profile, building a verifiable work history across every DAO or project the contributor has engaged with. Project leads can review an applicant's task history and reputation before assigning sensitive or high-value work. This positions Dework as something of a professional network layer for Web3 contributors, analogous to what LinkedIn provides in the traditional labor market, but based on on-chain-verifiable contributions rather than self-reported credentials.

Team and Funding

Dework was founded in Stockholm, Sweden by Lonis Hamaili, who serves as CEO. Hamaili was previously the first engineering contributor at CityDAO, giving him direct experience with the coordination and payment challenges DAOs face. In June 2022, the company raised a $5 million seed round co-led by Paradigm and Pace Capital. Additional participants in the round included Balaji Srinivasan, former CTO of Coinbase, and Sandeep Nailwal, co-founder of Polygon. The platform has been free for both DAOs and contributors since launch, with no disclosed plans for a native token.

Security

Dework does not custody user funds. Payments flow through connected wallet providers — primarily Gnosis Safe and browser wallets — rather than through Dework-controlled smart contracts. No independent smart contract audit of Dework's own code has been publicly disclosed. The security posture relies on the audit histories of the underlying wallet and safe infrastructure the platform integrates with.

Solana Ecosystem Fit

Dework's Phantom wallet integration and explicit listing of Solana as a supported payment network make it accessible to Solana-based DAOs and contributor communities. The platform hosts a dedicated Solana Grants space where Solana Foundation grant recipients have organized contributor work and published open bounties. Organizations paying contributors in SOL or Solana-based SPL tokens can use the same workflow as those operating on EVM chains, with payment settlement going directly to Phantom or other Solana wallet addresses. Dework's multi-chain architecture means Solana projects can coordinate with contributors who prefer payments on other networks, without requiring separate tooling.
