About

DeGods

DeGods is a 10,000-piece Solana NFT collection launched in October 2021 by DeLabs, distinguished by its deflationary supply mechanics, the DeadGods upgrade system, and a community-governed treasury that has expanded across chains and product experiments.

Origins and Collection Mechanics

DeGods minted on October 8, 2021, priced at 3 SOL per NFT, with all 10,000 selling out in approximately seven seconds despite bot activity at launch. The collection features unique avatar traits covering backgrounds, hairstyles, clothing, and accessories.

To counter anticipated floor price erosion, DeLabs introduced the Paper Hands Bitch Tax: any NFT listed below the prevailing floor price incurred a 33.3% penalty on the sale. Revenue collected from this tax was used to buy and burn DeGods NFTs from the open market, mechanically reducing total supply over time. A total of 535 NFTs were burned through this mechanism before the program concluded.

DeadGods and NFT Evolution

DeadGods are a rarer, evolved variant created by holders who choose to burn their DeGods NFT and pay a fee denominated in DUST tokens. Each burn is a one-for-one conversion that permanently removes the original DeGod from circulation, increasing scarcity across the broader collection. DeadGods holders receive additional benefits, including voting rights in the DeDAO governance system.

Token Ecosystem

DUST was launched in early 2022 as a Solana-based utility token with a fixed supply of 33,300,000. Holders earn DUST by staking their DeGods or DeadGods NFTs. The token is used within the ecosystem for upgrades such as the Season 3 Art Downgrade feature, which costs 333 DUST per NFT. DUST trades on decentralized exchanges including Raydium. DUST is tracked on Solana Compass under the Dust Protocol project.

In September 2024, DeLabs launched the DEGOD token (mint: degod39zqQWzpG6h4b7SJLLTCFE6FeZnZD8BwHBFxaN) as a unifying asset across the DeGods and y00ts collections and the broader ecosystem. The token distribution allocated 85% to NFT holders, 10% to a foundation reserve, 3% via a bonding curve, 1% for initial liquidity, and 1% to Sniper, a Solana NFT marketplace partner. DEGOD reached its all-time high of $0.08 in July 2025 and remains actively traded.

Chain Migration History

DeGods launched on Solana, migrated to Ethereum in March 2023 following a December 2022 announcement citing the desire for broader reach. Concurrently, the 535 previously burned DeGods were relaunched as Bitcoin Ordinals in February 2023. In May 2024, DeLabs reversed course and migrated both DeGods and its companion collection y00ts — which had spent roughly a year on Polygon — back to Solana as the primary home. A multi-chain bridge now allows DeGods to exist across Solana, Bitcoin, and Ethereum simultaneously.

The y00ts collection followed a parallel path: originally launched on Solana, it migrated to Polygon in late 2022 before returning to Solana alongside DeGods in May 2024.

DeDAO and Community Governance

DeDAO is the governance body for the DeGods ecosystem, funded by a 6.66% allocation of marketplace royalty fees. DeDAO has made off-chain investments, including the purchase of a BIG3 basketball team in 2022. DeadGods holders receive voting rights within DeDAO, giving the upgrade mechanic both a financial and governance dimension.

Season 3 and Product Experiments

Season 3 introduced several community-facing features. The Art Downgrade option allows holders to simplify their NFT artwork for a fee of 333 DUST. The Points Parlor gamification system distributed over $250,000 in prizes and accrued DUST fees to active community participants. DeGods has also operated a merchandise shop, hosted mansion party events, and launched de/capital, a memecoin-focused community chat product.

Team and Leadership

DeLabs was co-founded by Rohun Vora (known publicly as Frank DeGods), Kevin Henrikson (Kevin DeGods), and Finn DeGods, who departed in August 2023. Rohun Vora remained anonymous until revealing his identity in November 2022. On May 12, 2025, Vora announced his departure from the project; leadership transitioned to community members known as @0x_chill and @pastagotsauce. The project continues under community stewardship with new leadership.

Solana Ecosystem Position

DeGods was among the first Solana NFT collections to achieve significant cultural reach beyond the Solana ecosystem, earning coverage from Forbes, TechCrunch, Decrypt, and Cointelegraph. Its multi-chain migration cycle — leaving Solana for Ethereum and returning — made it a prominent case study in NFT project governance and community loyalty. As of 2025, DeGods operates primarily on Solana with the DEGOD token, active marketplace trading, and an active Discord community.
