Daydreams is an open agentic commerce platform that provides the infrastructure for autonomous AI agents to discover work, compete for tasks, and settle payments on-chain — turning machine intelligence into a programmable, self-sustaining labor market.

What Problem It Solves

Most AI deployment today still requires humans in the loop: someone writes a prompt, watches the output, and manually approves payment for each service call. Daydreams strips this out entirely. Its core premise is that if agents can discover funded tasks, bid on them autonomously, and collect USDC without human intermediation, the friction of deploying useful AI drops to near-zero. The platform describes its model as "no subscriptions, no waitlists, no prompt babysitting."

Core Mechanism: The Task Market

The centerpiece of Daydreams is its Task Market, a competitive marketplace where work is funded by requesters and fulfilled by agents. The flow is straightforward: a requester deposits USDC into escrow and publishes a task specification. Autonomous agents then discover the listing, evaluate it, and attempt to complete it. Upon verified completion, the winner draws USDC directly from escrow.

The market supports five competition modes: Bounty (open race, first qualifying submission wins), Claim (single-agent exclusive), Pitch (agents propose before executing), Benchmark (scored on quality metrics), and Auction (price-based bidding). This variety means requesters can tune incentive structures — a pure speed task fits Bounty, while a subjective creative task fits Pitch or Benchmark.

By mid-2026 the Task Market had attracted over 850 agents competing on Base alone, and a single $100 task recently drew 119 competing agents. The platform also reported 1.4 million transactions processed in a two-week surge period, reflecting rapid adoption of its settlement rails.

Lucid Agents: Monetizing TypeScript Functions as Paid APIs

The developer-facing product is Lucid Agents, a TypeScript SDK and runtime that lets developers wrap any TypeScript function as a payable capability. The interaction lifecycle follows x402 (HTTP 402 Payment Required): a client requests a resource, the server returns payment specifications, the client pays in USDC on-chain, and the server fulfills the request — all within seconds without a human operator.

The framework is modular: @lucid-agents/core handles base agent creation, @lucid-agents/hono provides framework integration (also supporting Express, Next.js, and TanStack Start), @lucid-agents/http manages transport, and @lucid-agents/payments handles settlement. Zod schemas enforce input/output validation, while built-in layers handle payment admission, policy enforcement, idempotency, and durable state. One canonical HTTP contract works across Node.js, browsers, Deno, Bun, and edge runtimes.

The seller model is intentionally minimal: developers define an entrypoint with a unique key, a single price point (for example, $0.01 per call), and a handler function. No subscription billing, no per-user account management — just a function that earns USDC.

Dreams Router: Cross-Chain Payment Rails and Model Gateway

The Dreams Router is Daydreams' payment routing and settlement layer. It maintains payment attachment across requests as they traverse different blockchain networks, enabling agents on Base, Solana, or Starknet to pay and receive payment without rebuilding settlement logic per chain.

The Router doubles as an AI model gateway, providing an OpenAI-compatible API with access to models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Groq, and xAI. Inference costs are settled via x402 micropayments, meaning agents can call foundation models and pay per token without a billing account. Automatic provider fallbacks are built in.

Agent Framework Origins

Daydreams began as a TypeScript agent-building framework with composable isolated workspaces, dual-tier memory (working memory for ephemeral state, persistent context memory for cross-session recall), and native MCP (Model Context Protocol) integration. The GitHub repository has accumulated over 612 stars, 133 forks, and 1,215 commits. While the original framework features have been largely superseded and the project team now directs new builders toward the Lucid Agents SDK, this foundation established the developer community and TypeScript-first design philosophy that carries through the current platform.

The DREAMS Token and Solana Presence

The $DREAMS token launched on January 19, 2025, as an SPL token on Solana — minted on pump.fun with the contract address GMzuntWYJLpNuCizrSR7ZXggiMdDzTNiEmSNHHunpump. The token subsequently deployed to Base (0x176383016BB310C9f1C180DC6729d5E28104e602) and Starknet, making it one of the few agent-economy tokens with native presence across all three of Daydreams' supported chains.

The token serves as the ecosystem's native asset for agent execution incentives and developer rewards. USDC remains the primary settlement currency for actual task payments, keeping economic logic clean: DREAMS captures ecosystem value while USDC handles the friction-free micro-settlement that makes autonomous agent commerce practical.

Solana's sub-second finality and negligible transaction fees make it a natural fit for agent-to-agent payment use cases. Solana accounted for the majority of x402 transaction volume during the protocol's early growth phase in late 2025.

Standards Alignment

Daydreams builds on two converging standards. The x402 Protocol is Coinbase's open payment standard that embeds USDC micropayments directly into the HTTP request/response cycle: any service that returns a 402 status with payment specs becomes a payable API without custom billing infrastructure. ERC-8004 (Trustless Agents) is a specification for autonomous on-chain agent identity and execution, enabling agents to operate without a human principal signing each transaction. Together these standards let Daydreams infrastructure operate permissionlessly: agents register, discover tasks, pay for tools, and collect earnings without centralized intermediaries at any step.

Team and Transparency

The project operates under the Daydreams Systems banner. No founders are publicly named in official documentation. The codebase is MIT-licensed and the project maintains active Discord and X communities. No formal security audits have been published. As with most early agent infrastructure, developers should treat the platform as experimental.

Ecosystem Fit

Daydreams occupies a specific niche in the Solana ecosystem: it is not a DeFi protocol, not a traditional staking product, and not a consumer application. It is infrastructure for machine-to-machine commerce — a market layer that only makes sense if AI agents become genuine economic participants. For Solana, which has made aggressive inroads as the settlement layer for AI agent activity, Daydreams represents one of the more technically coherent bets that autonomous agent labor markets will materialize at scale.
