Busha

Busha is a Nigerian digital asset platform built to bring regulated, accessible crypto financial services to African users who have historically been underserved or excluded by traditional finance. Founded in 2019, the company has grown into the continent's first SEC-licensed digital asset exchange and serves more than one million users, primarily in Nigeria and Kenya. The company is led by five co-founders: Michael Adeyeri (CEO and CTO), Moyosore Sodipo (COO and CPO), Adeoye Ojo, Olaoluwa Samuel-Biyi, and Babafemi Lawal. Adeyeri and Sodipo have been the public faces of the company since its early fundraising. Busha became the first digital asset platform to receive a license from Nigeria's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), distinguishing it from the informal or offshore exchanges that previously dominated the Nigerian market. This SEC license covers its operations as a virtual asset service provider and positions Busha as the compliance-first incumbent in Nigeria's rapidly formalizing crypto sector. The company is also NDPR-compliant and ISO-certified. To manage transaction monitoring and regulatory risk, Busha uses Chainalysis KYT and Reactor tools, which allow it to grade customer risk, flag suspicious transactions, and respond to regulatory inquiries. CEO Michael Adeyeri has described this proactive stance as foundational: Regulations are coming, and with Chainalysis, we don't have to disrupt ongoing operations. Busha's platform is organized into three service categories. Trading lets users buy, sell, and convert more than 70 digital assets at local market rates. Supported assets include Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tether, Solana, Polygon, Polkadot, and Chainlink, among others. The platform supports Nigerian naira and Kenyan shilling as fiat pairs, and offers recurring buy schedules, limit orders, and instant wallet funding. Yield and Lending allows eligible users to earn up to 18% annual yield on qualifying digital assets. Busha has also introduced crypto-backed loans that let users borrow Nigerian naira against their crypto holdings, including Solana, at a 2% monthly interest rate. This lets holders access liquidity without liquidating positions, which is valuable in a market where local fiat needs are frequent. Spending provides a global USD account alongside virtual and physical Visa debit cards with instant cashback rewards. Busha Business is a B2B product line targeting African companies seeking stablecoin infrastructure for treasury management and cross-border payments. In July 2026, Busha Business announced a collaboration with Tether to expand stablecoin infrastructure for African businesses, helping merchants and creators receive international payments via stablecoins. Solana is a fully supported trading asset on Busha and plays a specific role in the platform's lending product. Busha's SOL-backed naira loan product lets users post SOL as collateral and receive NGN liquidity without selling, reflecting Solana's growing role in African DeFi-adjacent finance. Busha raised a 4.2 million USD seed round in 2021 led by Jump Capital. Additional investors included Cadenza Ventures, Blockwall Capital, CMT Digital, Greenhouse Capital, Raba Capital, YOLO Investments, and Emurgo. Funds were directed toward product development and expansion to Kenya, Ghana, and francophone West Africa. The platform offers 24/7 human customer support and enterprise-grade security. App ratings stand at 4.6 stars on the App Store and 4.5 stars on Google Play. Nigeria is among the world's top countries by cryptocurrency adoption volume. Naira depreciation has made stablecoins and digital assets increasingly mainstream financial tools for savings and cross-border transactions. Busha's licensing and local-first design, supporting NGN and KES, directly addresses this demand. As of mid-2026, Busha is actively publishing content, launching new partnerships, and expanding its stablecoin business product line.
