Its tag line, "Live on crypto," captures the core proposition: a broad catalog of digital goods purchased directly with Bitcoin, Solana, Ethereum, and a range of other assets, delivered instantly to the buyer's inbox.

What Bitrefill Sells

The catalog breaks into four main product types. Gift cards are the dominant category, with more than 8,000 options from brands including Amazon, Netflix, Spotify, Apple, Uber, Walmart, and regional retailers across dozens of markets. eSIMs cover mobile data access in more than 140 countries, letting users top up travel connectivity with crypto. Prepaid phone refills work similarly for mobile airtime across a wide range of carriers. The fourth product, the Bitrefill Card, is a Visa-branded payment instrument: users load it with cryptocurrency and spend it anywhere Visa is accepted, effectively giving crypto a physical-world on-ramp through a familiar payment network.

According to Bitrefill, the platform has served more than one million customers and operates in more than 186 countries.

Accepted Cryptocurrencies and the Solana Integration

Bitrefill accepts Bitcoin, Bitcoin Lightning, Ethereum, Solana (SOL), [[TOKEN:EPjFWdd5AufqSSqeM2qN1xzybapC8G4wEGGkZwyTDt1v]] (USDC), USDT, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Dash, and payments routed through Binance Pay. The checkout flow is the same regardless of the asset chosen: select a product and denomination, pay to the provided address, receive the digital item.

Solana holders can pay directly with SOL across the full gift card, eSIM, and phone refill catalog. Bitrefill also integrates LI.FI, a third-party decentralized exchange aggregator, which broadens access further: users can top up a Bitrefill USD or EUR store credit balance using more than 6,000 tokens, swapping into Bitrefill's supported assets at the point of checkout. LI.FI is not affiliated with Bitrefill and operates as a separate protocol layered on top of the payment flow.

How a Purchase Works

No account is required for basic transactions. A buyer selects a gift card or other product, chooses an amount, picks a cryptocurrency at checkout, and sends the exact payment to the address or QR code shown. Confirmations arrive within minutes for most blockchain payments. Bitcoin Lightning transactions settle in seconds at negligible fee cost; Bitrefill was among the earliest commercial platforms to support Lightning for live purchases.

For users who do register, the platform stores order history and supports a store credit balance (formerly called "Bitrefill Balance," renamed to "Store Credit" in July 2025). Registered users can also participate in a Bitcoin cashback program that returns up to 10% on qualifying purchases of select gift cards, phone refills, and eSIMs.

The Bitrefill Card

The Bitrefill Card is a virtual Visa card targeted primarily at European users. Loading the card charges a 1.99% deposit fee; there are no monthly fees and no foreign transaction fees, though an inactivity fee applies after 12 months without use. The virtual card integrates with Google Wallet, and support for Apple Pay has been announced as forthcoming. A physical card is also planned.

For Solana users, the card extends spending reach beyond retailers that accept direct crypto payment: load SOL, get a Visa balance, spend at any merchant that takes Visa.

Geographic Reach and Use Case

Bitrefill's gift card catalog spans major global retailers but is regional by design. A user in the United States sees Amazon US, Walmart, and US mobile carriers; a user in Europe sees a different set. The eSIM catalog has the widest geographic reach, covering more than 140 countries, which makes it a common tool among crypto-native travelers who prefer not to exchange assets at a local bank or currency desk.

The platform does not require identity verification for gift card and phone top-up purchases, which keeps the friction low for users who want to spend without onboarding through a traditional exchange. The Bitrefill Card has its own verification requirements in line with card-issuer compliance obligations.

Positioning

Bitrefill describes itself as "No.1 crypto ecommerce worldwide," a claim it does not substantiate with third-party market share data on its site. The company has operated continuously since 2014, making it one of the longer-running crypto-spending services. Its Lightning Network integration, dating to the early commercial rollout of the protocol, reflects a Bitcoin-native origin; the later addition of Solana, Ethereum, and stablecoins broadens the addressable user base without changing the product's core logic.

For Solana holders, the platform provides a direct route from SOL to a wide range of consumer goods and services without an exchange step. The LI.FI integration extends that further to users holding long-tail Solana tokens who can swap into a checkout-compatible asset at purchase time.
