Bitpanda

Bitpanda

Founded in Vienna in 2014, Bitpanda has built one of Europe's broadest regulated investment platforms -- an all-in-one environment where retail investors can trade cryptocurrencies, fractional stocks, ETFs, and precious metals through a single account. The company describes its mission as removing the barriers that have historically kept ordinary people away from investing, and its architecture reflects that ambition: users can start with as little as one euro, trading is available around the clock, and the platform abstracts away the technical complexity that often discourages newcomers to digital assets.

A Regulated Multi-Asset Platform

Bitpanda's product catalogue spans more than 650 cryptocurrencies alongside over 10,000 stocks and ETFs accessible at a flat one-euro fee per trade, plus positions in metals and structured indices. That breadth under one roof distinguishes it from both pure-play crypto exchanges and traditional brokers. Users hold a single account with balances across asset classes, making it straightforward to shift exposure between, say, Bitcoin and an S&P 500 ETF without switching applications.

Regulatory compliance is the company's chief differentiator and a recurring theme in its communications. As of early 2025, Bitpanda holds more EU MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation) licences than any other exchange -- licences issued by Germany's BaFin, Malta's MFSA, and Austria's FMA. The BaFin MiCAR approval, granted in January 2025, was notable as one of the earliest issued under the new regime, enabling Bitpanda to passport its services across all 27 EU member states from a single regulatory hub. The company additionally holds crypto licences in the UK and UAE, giving it regulated presence across three major jurisdictions.

The regulatory record is not without blemish. In August 2026 Austria's FMA issued the country's first published MiCA enforcement decision: a 70,000-euro fine against Bitpanda GmbH for procedural violations relating to a token white paper -- specifically, submitting the document less than the required 20 working days before publication, distributing marketing materials before the white paper was live, and omitting required disclaimers and contact details from marketing communications. The episode, while modest in scale, illustrates that MiCA enforcement is now operational and that even compliant-first platforms must track granular procedural requirements.

Solana on Bitpanda

Solana is a first-class asset on Bitpanda. Users can buy, sell, and hold SOL through the platform's standard interface, with holdings custodied in cold storage as part of Bitpanda's security infrastructure. The platform also includes Solana in its Bitpanda Earn staking programme, through which users can earn weekly staking rewards on proof-of-stake assets including SOL, with automatic compounding and no mandatory lock-up period -- assets can be withdrawn at any time. The Spotlight programme has surfaced emerging Solana-ecosystem tokens as well, giving the platform's 7.4 million users early access to assets in the broader Solana ecosystem.

BEST: The Platform Token

Bitpanda's native utility token, BEST (Bitpanda Ecosystem Token), operates as an in-platform membership key. Holders receive reduced trading fees, access to exclusive features, higher staking multipliers, and priority access to new token launches through the Spotlight programme. The BEST VIP tier system scales benefits with the size of a user's BEST balance, creating an incentive to hold the token alongside other assets. The token's tokenomics and design are detailed in Bitpanda's Vision Token Whitepaper, which outlines the long-term role of BEST in the platform's economy.

Bitpanda Enterprise

Beyond its retail product, Bitpanda operates a white-label B2B infrastructure business under its enterprise division. The offering targets banks, fintechs, neobanks, and robo-advisers that want to embed regulated crypto and multi-asset trading without building the underlying stack themselves. Partners connect through a modular API layer, allowing them to surface Bitpanda's trading engine, custody infrastructure, and compliance frameworks inside their own products. This crypto-inside model reflects a strategic repositioning away from pure retail competition and toward becoming a licensed infrastructure layer for European financial services.

Scale and Financial Performance

Bitpanda reported adjusted 2025 revenue of 371 million euros, up 16% year-on-year, while its registered user base grew 25% to 7.4 million. The company's adjusted EBITDA declined significantly in the same period -- roughly 75% to approximately 13 million euros -- as Bitpanda invested heavily in product expansion, regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions, and international growth. The revenue trajectory, sustained through a turbulent post-FTX market cycle, reflects the durability of a business built on recurring fee income from broad asset access rather than on speculative trading volumes alone.

The platform holds ISO 27001 certification for information security management and maintains 24/7 multilingual customer support. Its European market positioning has made it a default choice for EU-based investors seeking a regulated, comprehensive entry point into both crypto and traditional markets -- with Solana support woven into the full stack from spot trading through staking.
