About

BitOK

BitOK is an anti-money laundering (AML) and Know Your Transaction (KYT) compliance platform founded in 2021 to help cryptocurrency businesses and individual holders verify that wallets and transactions are not linked to illicit activity. The platform offers a suite of tools that ranges from an API-driven enterprise compliance system to a lightweight Telegram bot, serving organizations that must meet regulatory requirements alongside individual investors who want to know the risk profile of assets they are receiving.

The Problem BitOK Addresses

Regulators worldwide have extended AML and counter-terrorist financing (CTF) obligations to crypto businesses. Exchanges, payment service providers, custodial wallets, and stablecoin issuers must screen counterparties before processing transactions, maintain audit trails, and file reports when suspicious activity is detected. Smaller operators often cannot afford a full-time compliance officer — BitOK positions itself as a cost-effective alternative, providing automated screening and reporting capabilities at a fraction of the cost of dedicated in-house staff.

Products and Features

KYT Office is BitOK's enterprise-grade compliance module. It integrates via API into a business's existing systems, runs continuous transaction monitoring, and fires automatic alerts when a wallet or transaction exceeds configurable risk thresholds. The module maintains audit trails and produces regulatory reports suited for submitting to financial intelligence units and compliance teams. Target customers include cryptocurrency exchanges, payment service providers, custodial wallet operators, investment platforms, gambling platforms, and stablecoin issuers, as well as regulators and law enforcement agencies conducting investigations.

Graph is a transaction analytics and fund-tracing tool. It visualizes the flow of funds across wallet addresses, building a relational map that compliance analysts can use to follow a trail of transactions and identify where funds originated or were directed. This kind of address clustering and graph visualization is central to blockchain forensics work and is used both for internal compliance monitoring and for on-chain investigations.

AML Checks is a standalone screening service for querying individual wallet addresses or transaction IDs. Users receive a risk assessment that includes any known links to illicit activity, sanctions lists, or flagged counterparties. The output can be downloaded as a formal AML report suitable for regulatory filings.

Telegram Bot brings the same wallet and transaction screening to a messaging interface. Users submit an address or transaction ID and receive a risk score along with counterparty information, making it accessible for users who do not need a full dashboard or API integration.

Portfolio Tracker lets individual investors and businesses monitor crypto holdings across multiple accounts, assess aggregate risk exposure, and generate tax reports and compliance documentation. The interface operates without requiring account registration for individual use.

Crypto Recovery is a service aimed at victims of theft or fraud. The BitOK team applies its transaction tracing capabilities to map where stolen assets moved and to produce documentation that can support legal proceedings or law enforcement referrals.

AML Certification is a training and qualification program for compliance professionals. BitOK offers hybrid courses covering crypto crime investigation techniques and the regulatory frameworks surrounding AML and CTF in digital assets. Graduates receive an AML officer qualification recognized within the Worldwide Association of Crypto Compliance (WACC), of which BitOK is a member.

Travel Rule compliance tooling is listed on the platform as forthcoming, which would extend BitOK's coverage to the Financial Action Task Force requirement that originating and beneficiary institutions exchange sender and recipient identity data for transfers above threshold amounts.

Blockchain Coverage

BitOK initially launched with AML coverage for the major-volume chains: Bitcoin, Ethereum, TRON, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum Classic, Ripple (XRP), Stellar, and Bitcoin SV. The platform subsequently expanded to include BNB Chain, Polygon, Dogecoin, Avalanche, Arbitrum, NEAR Protocol, and TON, broadening coverage as activity migrated toward newer chains and Layer 2 networks.

Team and Background

BitOK was founded in 2021 by Dmitry Machikhin, who serves as CEO. The team draws on developers and AML specialists from the United States and Israel, with the company headquartered in Israel. Machikhin has served as a guest expert to the United Nations on crypto AML and CFT implementation, reflecting the team's involvement in international standard-setting conversations.

The team has contributed to a series of public blockchain investigations. These include an analysis of the Bitmana case involving the theft of approximately $150 million in cryptocurrency, work on cryptocurrency bribery cases, and research into laundering schemes attributed to the Lazarus Group, the North Korean state-linked hacking organization responsible for a number of high-profile crypto thefts.

Regulatory Context and Positioning

The platform's dual-audience model — enterprise API customers and individual users — reflects how AML obligations and self-protective screening have both grown as crypto adoption has widened. Regulatory regimes in the European Union (through AMLD6 and MiCA), in the MENA region, and across the CIS have increasingly required businesses operating with digital assets to implement formal compliance programs. BitOK's geographic focus spans Europe, MENA, and CIS markets.

For individual investors, the ability to screen incoming wallets before accepting funds reduces exposure to tainted assets that could be frozen by exchanges or scrutinized by regulators — a practical concern given that asset seizure can follow chain-of-custody links even when the recipient was uninvolved in the original illicit activity.
