About

Bitlo

Bitlo is a centralized cryptocurrency exchange headquartered in Istanbul, Turkey, and one of the country's most established domestic trading platforms. Founded on June 5, 2018, by Mustafa Alpay and Hakan Baş, Bitlo was built around a straightforward premise: give Turkish retail investors a fast, compliant, and locally integrated on-ramp to digital assets. The platform's tagline — "Buy Bitcoin in 1 Minute" — reflects that founding ethos of speed and accessibility.

The Problem Bitlo Solves

Turkey presents a distinct set of conditions for crypto adoption. Persistent currency volatility has made local investors acutely interested in hard digital assets, while the country's large unbanked and underbanked population needs accessible fiat entry points. International exchanges serving Turkey typically lack deep Turkish Lira (TRY) liquidity, charge foreign-exchange conversion fees, and provide limited Turkish-language customer support. Bitlo addresses all three gaps directly: it maintains dedicated TRY order books, offers zero-fee deposits and withdrawals through domestic bank accounts, and operates 24/7 support in Turkish.

How It Works

Bitlo operates as a standard order-book exchange with centralized custody. Users register with a mobile number or email address, complete KYC document verification through the AI-powered Onfido identity service, and deposit TRY via bank transfer or USDT for stable-value entry. The platform offers two trading modes — a Basic interface for newcomers and an Advanced charting environment for experienced traders — without requiring users to toggle between separate products.

Fiat flows are a core differentiator. TRY deposits and withdrawals through official bank accounts carry no exchange fee, reducing the friction that pushes Turkish users toward peer-to-peer workarounds. Crypto withdrawals carry standard network-based fees (for example, 0.00057 BTC for Bitcoin), disclosed in the fee schedule.

Trading commissions follow a tiered maker-taker model based on 30-day volume. Makers pay 0% to 0.35% and takers pay 0.08% to 0.35%, with higher-volume accounts qualifying for the lowest rates. The native BTL token provides an additional pathway to fee reduction.

Supported Assets and Markets

As of mid-2026, Bitlo lists 226 coins across 298 trading pairs, spanning TRY and USDT quote currencies. Supported assets include Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), XRP, Solana (SOL), Shiba Inu (SHIB), Cardano (ADA), Avalanche (AVAX), and hundreds of additional altcoins. The SOL/TRY pair allows Turkish users to buy and sell Solana directly against their local currency without a USD conversion step, a meaningful convenience for retail investors managing lira-denominated portfolios.

In June 2026, Ripple announced a partnership making its USD-backed stablecoin RLUSD available to institutional clients in Turkey through Bitlo (alongside BiLira and Bitexen), signaling continued efforts to expand the exchange's institutional and stablecoin product lineup.

Product Suite

Beyond spot trading, Bitlo has built several complementary features:

Staking — Users can stake Ethereum, Bitcoin, and other supported assets directly within the platform to earn yield without managing private keys or validator infrastructure.

Regular Savings (Auto-Invest) — A recurring-purchase plan that lets users schedule automated TRY or USDT buys on a fixed cadence, supporting a dollar-cost averaging strategy.

Social Trading — A follow-and-copy trading feature that lets less experienced users replicate the positions of high-performing traders on the platform.

Chain Order — A conditional order type that chains multiple trade instructions, allowing users to set up automated sequences without active monitoring.

Bitlo Academy — An educational resource hub covering cryptocurrency fundamentals, trading concepts, and platform guides, primarily in Turkish.

BTL Token

Bitlo has issued a native exchange token, BTL (Bitlo Token), with a published litepaper detailing its utility within the Bitlo ecosystem. The token grants holders fee discounts on trading commissions, priority access to new product launches, and additional benefits tied to ecosystem participation. The project is listed on Solana Compass, indicating the BTL token is deployed as an SPL token on the Solana blockchain — a choice consistent with Solana's high throughput and low transaction costs, which suit the microtransaction patterns of an exchange token used for fee payments and loyalty rewards.

Security and Compliance

Bitlo stores the majority of user crypto assets in cold wallets, limiting exposure to the hot-wallet risks common to centralized exchanges. Two-factor authentication is mandatory for withdrawal requests. KYC onboarding uses Onfido's document verification pipeline, which automates identity checks against Turkish and international ID documents.

Regulatory status: Bitlo is registered in Turkey as a Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) under the country's transitional framework governed by the Capital Markets Board (SPK — Sermaye Piyasası Kurulu), which focuses on anti-money laundering controls and basic authorization criteria. Geographic restrictions apply — the platform does not serve users from the United States, China, Japan, certain Middle Eastern countries, Syria, or North Korea.

Track Record and Recognition

Bitlo has served more than two million registered users since launching in 2018, making it one of the larger domestic exchanges in Turkey by user count. The platform has received the "Cryptocurrency Platform Delivering Excellent Customer Experience" award from Sikayetvar A.C.E. five consecutive times and won the Diamond Award at the 2021 A.C.E. Awards for customer support excellence.

Solana Ecosystem Fit

Bitlo's connection to the Solana ecosystem is primarily through its native BTL token, deployed as an SPL token on Solana. By building its loyalty and fee-reduction layer on Solana, Bitlo gains access to Solana's sub-second finality and negligible transaction fees — important properties for a token that must be transferred frequently as users pay trading commissions or claim rewards. Beyond the token, Bitlo supports active SOL/TRY spot trading, giving Turkish retail investors one of the most direct local-currency access points to the Solana network.
