Azza AI
Azza AI is a WhatsApp-based agent that lets users buy, sell, swap, and bridge crypto via chat. It supports instant crypto-to-fiat conversions, phone number transfers, and asset management in WhatsApp.
Azza
Azza is a WhatsApp-native AI agent that lets anyone buy, sell, swap, and cash out cryptocurrency through simple chat commands — no separate app, browser, or blockchain wallet required.
The premise is disarmingly simple: if you can send a WhatsApp message, you can use crypto. For the hundreds of millions of mobile-first users across Africa and other emerging markets who already live inside WhatsApp, that framing is not a marketing line — it is a genuine unlock. Azza removes the three biggest barriers to crypto adoption in those markets: the complexity of self-custody wallets, the fraud risk of unregulated peer-to-peer (P2P) exchange channels, and the friction of converting digital assets back to spendable local cash.
How It Works
Getting started with Azza requires no app download and no wallet creation. Users save the platform's WhatsApp number, complete a two-minute identity verification (KYC), and set a four-to-six digit transaction PIN. From that point, every crypto operation happens inside the existing WhatsApp interface using slash commands: /buy, /sell, /deposit, /withdraw, and /rates. Transactions settle in seconds to under a minute, and the system confirms each step conversationally inside the chat thread.
Crucially, Azza replaces wallet addresses with phone numbers. To send crypto to another user, you enter their phone number rather than a 32- or 44-character hexadecimal string — a change that eliminates one of the most common sources of irreversible user error in crypto.
The platform handles the on-ramp and off-ramp mechanics underneath, converting local fiat to stablecoins on the way in and converting crypto back to local currency for instant withdrawal to a user's bank account on the way out. A USDT-to-USD conversion feature additionally allows users to move assets into dollar-denominated domiciliary bank accounts, useful in countries with volatile local currencies.
Supported Networks and Assets
Azza launched on Base and has expanded to twelve blockchain networks, including Solana, Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, Tron, Optimism, Arbitrum, Lisk, Celo, and Assetchain. The multi-chain architecture lets users hold and transact assets across networks from a single WhatsApp interface without needing to manage individual wallets or bridge transactions manually. The platform supports USDC, USDT, and other stablecoins as primary trading assets, as well as native chain tokens.
Geographic Coverage
Azza is currently active in Nigeria (NGN), Kenya (KES), and South Africa (ZAR), with confirmed expansion into Ghana, Singapore, and Argentina. Nigeria represents the primary market, where high local-currency volatility and a well-established crypto-aware user base have driven the strongest early adoption. The platform's BVN verification requirement for Nigerian users reflects local compliance standards for financial services.
Key Features
- Fiat on/off ramps: Buy stablecoins with local currency and cash out to a bank account without touching a P2P market.
- Phone-number transfers: Send crypto to anyone by WhatsApp number, bypassing wallet address entry entirely.
- Multi-chain swapping: Swap and bridge assets across supported networks without leaving the chat interface.
- Real-time rate checks: Instant rate lookup with /rates before committing to a trade.
- Cashback rewards: Azza offers cashback on transactions, incentivizing repeat usage.
- 24/7 operation: As a bot-driven service, the platform is available around the clock with no human support dependency for routine transactions.
Security and Compliance
Each account requires KYC before any transaction is permitted. Nigerian users undergo BVN (Bank Verification Number) verification, a biometric-linked identity standard used by Nigerian financial institutions. Transactions are PIN-protected at the application layer, and all communications run over WhatsApp's end-to-end encrypted transport. These controls put Azza closer to regulated fintech than to anonymous DeFi, which is deliberate: the target user is a first-time crypto participant, and compliance guardrails reduce fraud exposure for both the platform and its users.
Ecosystem and Recognition
Azza is backed by SuperteamNG, the Nigerian chapter of Solana's global contributor network, and has been featured in Solana's Startup Village. The project was selected for Ignition Season 4, a two-week program organized by Superteam Singapore connecting Web3 founders with venture capital and angel investors. Azza also received a Base Builder Grant, reflecting its cross-chain positioning. It previously won the SuperteamNg hackathon, which provided initial visibility within the Nigerian Solana developer community.
By early-to-mid 2025, the platform had processed over $72,000 in transaction volume, recorded more than 1,050 recurring transactions, and served more than 600 active users — metrics that validate product-market fit in a notoriously difficult environment for new financial applications.
Fit in the Solana Ecosystem
Azza represents a class of Solana-adjacent projects that compete not on DeFi yield or NFT mechanics but on distribution and accessibility. Its WhatsApp interface reaches users who would never interact with a Solana dApp in a browser. By building Solana support into a chat-first product aimed at underbanked and first-time users across Africa and emerging markets, Azza extends the Solana ecosystem's reach into populations and geographies that conventional crypto rails have consistently failed to serve.
