1inch Co-Founder: Launching On Solana | Sergej Kunz

1inch Expands to Solana ... 1inch, a popular decentralized exchange (DEX) aggregator in the Ethereum ecosystem, has recently expanded its operations to the Solana blockchain.

About

1inch Network

1inch Network is a DEX aggregator that routes token swaps across multiple decentralized exchanges to find the best available price for any trade. It was co-founded by Sergej Kunz and Anton Bukov in 2019. Solana support was added in spring 2025, bringing 1inch's Fusion+ cross-chain intent model to the Solana ecosystem.

Core Technology

1inch's primary routing algorithm is Pathfinder, which splits a swap across multiple DEX pools and routing paths simultaneously to minimize price impact and maximize the received amount. The aggregator queries liquidity from all major DEXs on any supported chain in real time and constructs the optimal multi-hop path.

On Solana, 1inch connects to more than 1 million SPL tokens available across Solana's DEX ecosystem. The Solana integration is native — built as Solana programs rather than wrapped EVM contracts — ensuring it operates within Solana's account and transaction model.

Fusion+ (Intent-Based Swaps)

The most distinctive feature in 1inch's architecture is Fusion+, its intent-based swap model. In a standard swap, the user pays gas and their transaction competes in the public mempool. In Fusion+, the user signs an off-chain "intent" — a signed message declaring what they want to swap and the minimum they are willing to receive — and submits it to a network of "Resolvers." Resolvers compete to fill the order on the user's behalf, paying gas from their own accounts and profiting from any spread they capture. The user pays no gas fees for Fusion+ swaps.

For cross-chain swaps, Fusion+ uses Hash Time-Locked Contracts (HTLCs) — atomic cryptographic locks that ensure funds on the source chain are released only when funds on the destination chain are confirmed delivered, or returned if the trade fails. This eliminates the need for a traditional bridge: the swap is an atomic swap between two chains' native environments, with no wrapped assets and no custodial bridge protocol in between.

Solana Coverage

Solana support launched in spring 2025. The Solana Fusion+ smart contract programs (on-chain programs handling the HTLC mechanics for Solana-side cross-chain swaps) were audited by OpenZeppelin in April 2025. The audit identified zero critical or high severity issues, finding only informational and low-severity findings that were remediated before launch.

Security History

In March 2025, 1inch suffered a $5 million security incident caused by a vulnerability in Fusion v1 — a deprecated, legacy version of the Fusion contracts. The vulnerability did not affect Fusion+, the current production version, or any Solana-side contracts. The incident was isolated to the deprecated contracts, and 1inch's response involved coordinated white-hat recovery of a portion of the affected funds. The Fusion+ contracts and Solana programs were confirmed unaffected.

1inch also holds ISO 27001 certification, an international standard for information security management systems, covering its organizational security processes.

1INCH Token

The 1INCH governance token is issued on Ethereum (ERC-20). It is used for governance votes on protocol parameters and for participating in the Fusion resolver network's staking and slashing mechanisms. The token is not natively deployed on Solana.

Scale

In 2025, 1inch processed $214 billion in cumulative trading volume across all supported chains and reported over 24 million registered users.

Solana Ecosystem Fit

1inch's Solana integration provides users with a battle-tested aggregation algorithm (Pathfinder) on a new high-speed, low-fee environment. Solana already has strong native aggregators (Jupiter being the dominant one), so 1inch's differentiation on Solana is primarily through Fusion+ cross-chain intents — the ability to do gasless, bridgeless cross-chain swaps from EVM chains into Solana and vice versa. For users who move frequently between Solana and EVM networks, the Fusion+ model with HTLC-based cross-chain execution represents a meaningfully different approach compared to traditional bridge-based cross-chain transfers.
