Solana Mainnet Reaches Epoch 1000 After More Than Six Years of Continuous Operation
Solana mainnet hit Epoch 1000 on July 10, 2026, more than six years after its March 2020 launch, with June 2026 setting a 3.77B non-vote transaction record.
Solana SOL$97.60-5.3% Solana's mainnet entered its 1,000th epoch at approximately 04:11 UTC on July 10, 2026, confirmed by the Solana Foundation. The network launched in March 2020, has been running since, and has never had to reset the count.
No hard fork. No protocol rollback. Just the chain advancing through its defined cycle, 1,000 times over.
What a Solana Epoch Is, and Why 1,000 of Them Matters
Solana's protocol fixes each epoch at exactly 432,000 slots, roughly two to three days of wall-clock time. At every epoch boundary, the protocol recalculates validator staking rewards and pays them out in SOL (SOL), and refreshes the active stake set that determines each validator's block production rights for the next cycle.
Running that process continuously, without interruption, for more than six years puts Solana among a short list of proof-of-stake networks to have done so at meaningful scale. The count is a record of the protocol machinery working as designed, repeatedly, since launch.
June 2026: A Record 3.77 Billion Non-Vote Transactions
The milestone arrives on the back of Solana's strongest month of user activity on record. The network processed 3.77 billion non-vote transactions in June 2026, counting only genuine user-initiated activity: trades, mints, transfers, and application interactions. Vote transactions, which are validator bookkeeping messages, are excluded from that total.
The Foundation's Epoch 1000 Site
The Solana Foundation launched a dedicated page at solana.com/epoch1000 to mark the occasion. It includes a wallet age checker that shows which epoch any address first appeared on mainnet, and generates what the Foundation calls "survivor cards": shareable images based on how early a given address joined the network. No wallet connection or transaction signature is required.
Laine Validator Marks 784 Consecutive Epochs on Solana Mainnet
Validator operators across the ecosystem marked the milestone publicly. Laine, a long-running Solana validator operator, noted that the Laine validator had been staked on mainnet for 784 of those 1,000 epochs, spanning nearly five years of continuous operation.
Firedancer and Alpenglow Are What Comes Next
The arrival at Epoch 1000 coincides with Solana's most consequential development cycle since launch. Jump Crypto Jump Crypto's Firedancer validator client, a complete reimplementation of Solana's validator software in C designed for substantially higher throughput, is in active development. Separately, Anza's Alpenglow consensus protocol targets a significant reduction in transaction finality latency, which Anza engineers have described as Solana's largest protocol upgrade to date.
Neither development resets nor restructures the epoch cycle the network has now completed 1,000 times. They build on the operational continuity the milestone confirms.
