MetaDAO's Rip Cars ICO Closes 127x Oversubscribed With $31.9M in Commitments
Rip Cars CARS token launched on Solana July 25 after MetaDAO's futarchy ICO closed 127x oversubscribed, drawing $31.9M in commitments against a $250,000 cap.
MetaDAO META$3,874.16+4.3% closed the Rip Cars futarchy ICO on July 25 at 17:01 UTC with $31.9 million in total commitments against a $250,000 raise cap, according to the official announcement from @MetaDAOProject. The CARS token and proportional USDC refunds were distributed automatically at 18:00 UTC the same day, with CARS immediately tradeable on Jupiter.
The $31.9 million figure represents the highest oversubscription ratio in MetaDAO's history at 127x, but it is a demand signal, not the amount the project raised. Because the raise cap was fixed at $250,000, each committer received approximately 0.78% of their committed capital deployed into CARS tokens, with the remainder returned as USDC. The distinction matters: Rip Cars launched with a $250,000 treasury, not $31.9 million.
$31.9M Committed Against a $250K Cap: How the Allocation Works
MetaDAO's ICO structure runs for a fixed window during which investors commit USDC. When commitments exceed the declared cap, the platform calculates each participant's pro-rata share (total cap divided by total commitments) and allocates tokens accordingly, returning excess USDC automatically at the token generation event.
For Rip Cars, which ran its four-day commitment window from July 21 through July 25, that math yields a fill rate of roughly 0.78 cents deployed per dollar committed. Investors who committed $1,000 received CARS tokens worth $7.80 at the ICO price of $0.025, with $992.20 in USDC returned.
The mechanism is designed to prevent bot manipulation and eliminate the first-mover advantage common to traditional capped sales. Committing earlier or larger carries no structural benefit when the final allocation is computed proportionally across the entire pool. According to MetaDAO's ICO documentation, a portion of raised capital and approximately 2.9 million tokens from the AMM allocation are automatically deposited into liquidity pools at launch.
What Rip Cars Is Building: Hot Wheels Gacha With Physical Inventory
Rip Cars describes itself as a Hot Wheels-inspired gacha platform where users open randomized digital mystery packs backed by actual physical die-cast car inventory. Each pack pull generates a digital collectible with a rarity tier; holders can keep it as a digital asset or redeem it for the underlying physical item.
The physical inventory backing is a meaningful structural distinction for a collectibles platform. The project's stated fund allocation from the $250,000 raise directs 20.4% to inventory acquisition and 5.7% to inventory management, according to CryptoBriefing's coverage, alongside 30% for marketing and 15.7% for product development.
Of the 25,800,000 total CARS supply, 10 million tokens (38.76%) were allocated to the ICO, 11.24% (~2.9 million) to AMM liquidity, and 50% to the team.
MetaDAO's Futarchy Model and the Ownership Coin Structure
MetaDAO uses futarchy, a governance model driven by prediction markets rather than traditional token-holder voting, as both a governance mechanism and a capital-formation framework. Rather than standard equity or profit-sharing, CARS are "ownership coins" that give holders a stake in the Rip Cars DAO, which controls the project treasury and protocol decisions.
The platform automates fundraising, liquidity seeding, and governance setup under a single architecture with no admin override. Founders set a raise cap and minimum threshold before the commitment window opens; if commitments fall short of the minimum, all USDC is returned. If they exceed the cap, the pro-rata mechanism distributes tokens and refunds automatically at TGE.
The Largest Oversubscription Ratio in MetaDAO's 14-Launch History
The 127x ratio on Rip Cars surpasses MetaDAO's prior oversubscription records by a wide margin. When Credible Finance raised on MetaDAO in July, its CRED TGE generated $32.7 million in demand against a $4 million cap, approximately 8x oversubscribed. CRED attracted larger absolute commitments but against a cap 16x the size of Rip Cars', resulting in a far lower oversubscription ratio.
MetaDAO has now completed 14 launches with cumulative fundraising across all projects exceeding $44 million, according to CryptoBriefing. The Rip Cars raise, while small in absolute capital terms, produced the platform's sharpest oversubscription signal yet โ a function of the $250,000 cap setting a narrow target against what turned out to be concentrated retail demand for the collectibles concept.
