Jupiter and BitGo Launch Institutional Validator for SOL Staking From BitGo Custody

Solana 🧭 Compass By Solana 🧭 Compass

Jupiter and BitGo launched a validator letting eligible BitGo clients stake SOL from custody. Compass data ranks Jupiter's validator fifth on Solana by stake.

Jupiter JUP$0.277+0.1% and BitGo launched the Jupiter x BitGo validator on 28 October 2026, a setup that lets eligible BitGo institutional clients stake SOL directly from their existing BitGo custody accounts. According to BitGo's announcement, clients can delegate SOL to Jupiter's validator "without transferring assets to an external staking provider." Jupiter confirmed the partnership in a post on X the same day, pitching it as "Solana's leading DeFi platform, meet the custodian institutions trust."

For a fund or treasury that already keeps SOL with BitGo, the change is practical. Staking with Jupiter no longer means moving coins out of custody to an outside staking provider; BitGo says clients reach it "through existing workflows." The SOL stays in the custody account the client already uses, and the stake points at a validator run by the team behind the Jupiter swap aggregator.

How BitGo custody clients stake SOL with the Jupiter x BitGo validator

Eligible BitGo clients delegate SOL from their custody accounts to the Jupiter x BitGo validator, and the coins remain inside BitGo custody while they earn protocol rewards. BitGo names the custodian as BitGo Bank & Trust, N.A., which it describes as an OCC-regulated national trust bank, and says the SOL sits in its institutional-grade cold storage.

Staking on Solana works by delegation. A holder points SOL at a validator, the computer that votes on and produces blocks, and shares in the rewards that validator earns. The validator never gets the right to withdraw the delegated coins. That is what makes this arrangement possible: BitGo keeps the keys, Jupiter does the validating.

The division of labour is spelled out in BitGo's post: "Jupiter is an independent third party that operates the validator; BitGo does not control validator performance." BitGo adds that clients keep access to its insurance program "with coverage of up to $250 million, subject to the policy's terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions," and that insurance "is not a guarantee of the value of any asset or of staking rewards."

The post is direct about the risks. BitGo says staking rewards "vary based on network conditions, validator performance, and other factors" and are not guaranteed, and it lists unstaking delays under Solana's deactivation rules, validator downtime, protocol changes including possible slashing penalties, and falls in the value of SOL.

Abel Seow, Managing Director and Head of APAC Sales at BitGo, tied the launch to how institutions already work: "Staking is an important part of how institutions manage their SOL holdings, and it needs to fit into their existing custody and approval processes."

Jupiter validator stake, commission and rank on Solana

Jupiter already runs one of the largest validators on Solana. The validator Solana Compass tracks under Jupiter's name, vote account CatzoSMUkTRidT5DwBxAC2pEtnwMBTpkCepHkFgZDiqb, held about 9.72 million SOL of activated stake on 28 October 2026, about 2.24% of the network, and ranked fifth of 661 validators by stake, according to our validator data for Jupiter. It charges a 5% commission on inflation rewards and 0% on Jito MEV tips.

That stake has drifted down over the past 50 epochs. Solana Compass data shows the validator holding about 11.74 million SOL at epoch 1021, falling to about 9.73 million by epoch 1070, a decline of about 17%, with the largest steps at epochs 1059 and 1061. Stake has been flat at about 9.73 million SOL since epoch 1061.

Jupiter's validator fell from about 11.74 million to 9.73 million SOL of activated stake over 50 epochs, a drop of about 17%, before the BitGo partnership was announced.

Neither BitGo's post nor Jupiter's announcement names a vote account, so it is not stated whether BitGo clients delegate to this validator or to a separate one set up for the partnership. Nothing in the Compass figures above can yet be attributed to BitGo clients; the partnership was announced on the same day as these readings.

BitGo's other Solana staking partners: SOL Strategies, Helius and JitoSOL

Jupiter joins a list of Solana staking options BitGo has been building since 2025. BitGo named SOL Strategies as a validator partner in April 2025, added Helius in July 2025, and brought in JitoSOL support in October 2025, which lets clients stake, unstake and convert between SOL and the JitoSOL liquid staking token.

Those partners are infrastructure specialists. SOL Strategies runs Solana validators as its core business, and Helius hSOL$125.09-0.2% is a Solana infrastructure provider whose validator charges 0% on both inflation rewards and MEV, per our leaderboard. Jupiter is the odd one out: an application team, best known for its swap aggregator, perpetuals and lending, that also runs a top-five validator.

Kash Dhanda, Jupiter's COO, made that point in BitGo's announcement, saying that "running a validator is how we invest in that base layer" beneath Jupiter's swaps, perps and lending, and that the BitGo partnership "brings institutional SOL into it on terms those institutions already trust."

The options inside a BitGo account differ in ways a client can check. BitGo's post does not state a commission for the Jupiter x BitGo validator; Jupiter's existing validator charges 5% on inflation rewards, against 0% at Helius. The liquidity of the position differs too: native delegation through the Jupiter x BitGo validator is subject to Solana's deactivation period before SOL can be withdrawn, while BitGo's JitoSOL support lets clients convert between the token and SOL. BitGo has not published how much SOL its clients stake with each partner.

For Solana, the deal gives clients of a regulated US trust bank a direct route to stake with an operator whose existing validator ranks among the network's five largest. It came on the same day we covered Google's preview of multi-party compute custody for banks. Jupiter now sits on the same BitGo menu as the infrastructure firms, and anyone can compare its validator with the rest on our validator leaderboard.
