SOL Strategies
SOL Strategies Inc. is a publicly traded Canadian company (CSE: HODL, NASDAQ: STKE) that operates validator infrastructure, a liquid staking protocol, and a suite of digital asset products on Solana.
Founded in 2018 as Cypherpunk Holdings, the Toronto-based company originally focused on privacy-oriented cryptocurrency investments before pivoting to the Solana ecosystem. It rebranded to SOL Strategies in September 2024 and listed on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker STKE in September 2025, while continuing to trade on the Canadian Securities Exchange under the HODL ticker it has carried since 2018. The company operates as an independent organization within the Solana ecosystem and states no affiliation with the Solana Foundation.
Validator Infrastructure
SOL Strategies runs four enterprise validators on Solana: Laine, Cogent Crypto, a SOL Strategies-branded validator, and OrangeFin Ventures. The infrastructure carries SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001 certifications and integrates with BitGo custody. The company completed a SOC 1 & 2 Type 2 examination with no exceptions noted.
The validator network supports white-label services that allow institutional partners to offer Solana staking under their own brand. Partners using this arrangement include Balance, a Canadian custodian that integrated the OrangeFin validator, and Netcoins. SOL Strategies was also selected as a staking provider for the VanEck Solana ETF.
STKESOL Liquid Staking
SOL Strategies launched [[TOKEN:stke7uu3fXHsGqKVVjKnkmj65LRPVrqr4bLG2SJg7rh]] (STKESOL), its liquid staking token, in January 2026. Users deposit SOL and receive STKESOL in return, with no minimum deposit required. The token accrues staking rewards and is tradeable within DeFi protocols including Kamino, Loopscale, Orca, and Squads.
Delegation across validators is governed by the Stakewiz Wiz Score algorithm, which distributes stake based on validator performance metrics. As of early 2026, the protocol held over 691,000 SOL in total value locked across more than 1,000 holders.
Acquisitions: Darklake Labs and Houdini Swap
In April 2026, SOL Strategies acquired Darklake Labs Pte. Ltd. for $1.2 million, consisting of $200,000 in cash and $1 million in common shares. Darklake's primary asset was Zyga, a zero-knowledge proof system built for Solana. Zyga allows parties to verify trade constraints and collateralization ratios without revealing underlying position data, settling in a single transaction.
In May 2026, the company announced a definitive agreement to acquire HoudiniSwap LLC for USD $18 million in cash and stock, closing the transaction in June 2026. Houdini Swap is a non-custodial, privacy-focused cross-chain swap aggregator that operates across more than 100 blockchain networks. The platform had processed more than $2.5 billion in cumulative transaction volume since launch and generated approximately $13 million in revenue in 2025. Recent distribution integrations include Jumper and Pump.fun's Terminal.
The acquisition added a fifth revenue stream to the company's existing four: treasury staking rewards, third-party validator delegations, liquid staking fees, and institutional service agreements.
Treasury and Capital Deployment
SOL Strategies holds over 459,000 SOL in its treasury, generating native staking rewards at approximately 6-7% annually. Total assets under delegation across the validator network have reached 3.87 million SOL. In 2025, the company closed a C$30 million LIFE offering and subsequently reduced debt through active treasury management.
Institutional partners that have engaged SOL Strategies' staking and treasury services include Crypto.com, ARK Invest's Digital Asset Revolutions Fund, Neptune Digital Assets, and Solana Mobile.
Leadership
The executive team is led by CEO Michael Hubbard, alongside Chief Strategy Officer Steve Ehrlich, CFO Doug Harris, and COO Andrew McDonald. The board is chaired by Jon Matonis, with directors including Dennis Logan, José Manuel Calderón, Laszlo Borsai, Luis Berruga, and Rubsun Ho. Investor relations is handled by John Ragozzino, CFA.
Solana Positioning
SOL Strategies operates across four primary revenue streams — validator commissions, third-party stake delegations, liquid staking fees, and institutional service agreements — with cross-chain transactional revenue added through the Houdini Swap acquisition. The company is also exploring pathways to tokenize its own shares on the Solana blockchain. Its Firedancer work, announced in a July 2026 blog post, signals ongoing investment in Solana's core infrastructure development.
