Doma Protocol Opens Frontier Vault on Solana via Loopscale, Tying SOL Deposits
An antique map on a navigator's desk with flags marked .agent and .sol, linked by glowing threads to a futuristic Solana vault labelled Loopscale, beneath an ICANN globe under glass.

D3 opened Frontier on Solana on 27 September 2026, launching a vault on Loopscale where SOL deposits earn points toward priority on new internet domain extensions. D3 announced the launch at 23:47 UTC, and D3's Doma Protocol, the company's domain blockchain, posted its own announcement two minutes later. The extensions in question, names like .agent and .sol, are applications in ICANN's 2026 new gTLD round, the first chance to apply for new top-level domains since 2012.

How Doma's Frontier Points Work on Loopscale

Frontier is a points programme, and Doma Protocol describes the Solana vault as the first Frontier vault. D3's launch thread lays out the flow: deposit into the vault, link the Loopscale wallet to a Frontier account, and accrue one point per day for every dollar deposited. Deposits in the Solana vault carry an 8x multiplier for a limited time, according to D3.

Points are then committed to specific names within the extensions a user wants. Per the Frontier product page, members commit points to a name, and "the order with the most points ranks first." In Doma Protocol's words, the goal is priority "before they reach the general market."

Loopscale, a Solana lending protocol that already runs curated vaults for managed strategies, holds the deposits. D3 states that it "does not custody, stake, lend, invest or manage the assets."

ICANN's 2026 New gTLD Round Behind the .agent and .sol Extensions

A generic top-level domain (gTLD) is the part of a web address after the final dot, such as .com or .org. ICANN, the body that coordinates the domain system, opened its 2026 application window on 30 April and closed it on 12 August 2026. ICANN says its previous round, in 2012, added more than 1,200 new gTLDs.

D3's product page says registries filed more than 1,600 applications this time. The full list of applied-for extensions is expected to be published in mid-October 2026, with ICANN reviewing each application and adding approved ones in 2027. According to D3, more than 20 TLD applicants and registries are part of Frontier.

None of the extensions Frontier lists has been approved yet, so Frontier points currently back applications that ICANN has yet to rule on.

Doma SOL Internet Vault TVL and What the Points Do Not Guarantee

The Solana vault is small so far. The "Doma SOL Internet Vault" dashboard showed about $113K deposited on 28 September 2026, against 34,443 Frontier members and 55 extensions listed in the current round. Epoch 1 runs 182 days, ending on 21 March 2027.

D3's fine print on the Frontier page sets out what the points do not do. They cannot be sold, withdrawn or traded, they do not pay a domain's registration price, and D3 states that "Frontier Points are non-cash program points and do not purchase a domain." Name registration is not guaranteed, and participation "does not reserve, allocate or promise any domain name."

D3 and Doma Protocol's Path to Solana

D3 builds Doma Protocol, which it describes as a DNS-compliant blockchain for tokenized domains. The company raised $25M in a Series A led by Paradigm in January 2025. In December 2025 it announced a partnership with InterNetX, an IONOS Group company, to bring more than 46 million domains to Solana as tokenized real-world assets.

At D3's Dominion'26 conference in May 2026, Vibhu Norby, whom D3 identifies as Solana's CPO and interim CMO, said Doma would bring "tokenized baskets of 100k+ premium domain names" to Solana, according to D3's event recap. Frontier is a separate product from those baskets. Where the baskets package existing domains, Frontier points Solana users at names that do not exist yet, and whose extensions depend on ICANN's approvals in 2027.
