The service facilitates large-volume cryptocurrency transactions with 24/7 dedicated trade managers, tight spreads, zero additional fees, multiple order types (IOC, PEG, TWAP), and support for multiple fiat currencies. A Prime Brokerage lending component offers credit lines, structured products, and real-time market analytics for portfolio hedging and capital management.
ZebPay
ZebPay is a Singapore-headquartered cryptocurrency exchange founded in 2014, recognized as one of India's first and most enduring crypto trading platforms. With over 6 million registered users and more than $22 billion in cumulative trade volume, it operates across 160+ countries and maintains dedicated regional products for India and Australia.
Background and History
ZebPay traces its origins to a Bitcoin wallet and exchange called Buysellbitco.in, launched in late 2012 by Mahin Gupta. The platform was rebranded to ZebPay in September 2014, bringing in co-founders Sandeep Goenka and Saurabh Agrawal. By 2017-2018, the exchange was processing $1-2 billion in monthly trading volume and ranked among India's largest retail crypto venues.
In 2018, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) prohibited regulated financial entities from dealing in virtual currencies, effectively cutting off ZebPay and other Indian exchanges from domestic banking. ZebPay shifted its operational focus to Singapore and Australia and suspended Indian rupee services. The ban was overturned by India's Supreme Court in 2020, and ZebPay relaunched its India operations under new CEO Rahul Pagidipati, who had acquired the company from its original founders. The founding team -- Gupta, Goenka, and Agrawal -- are no longer involved in daily operations.
Core Platform
ZebPay is a centralized exchange (CEX) offering spot trading, perpetual futures, over-the-counter (OTC) services, and an API layer for algorithmic and institutional access. The platform lists 400+ cryptocurrency pairs and provides real-time charting, stop-loss and limit order types, and a mobile-first experience for iOS and Android.
Beyond trading, ZebPay has developed a suite of investment and income products targeting retail users:
CryptoPacks: Curated, diversified crypto portfolios that include assets like Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB, and Solana. CryptoPacks feature automatic rebalancing when market movements shift portfolio weights, removing the need for manual adjustments.
Bitcoin SIP (Systematic Investment Plan): A recurring-purchase feature that lets users dollar-cost average into Bitcoin on a set schedule, designed to reduce timing risk in volatile markets.
Earn / Lending: Users can lend supported assets and receive yield of up to 8.5% on their crypto holdings. Lido's Staked ETH (stETH) is among the assets available for passive reward exposure through ZebPay's Quick Trade feature.
ZebPay Build (API Services): A high-performance API interface supporting spot and perpetual futures trading, available for developers, trading bots, and institutional partners.
OTC Services: Tailored execution for large-volume trades outside the public order book.
Supported Assets and Solana
ZebPay supports Solana (SOL) across its primary product lines. SOL is available for spot trading, is included in select CryptoPack portfolios, and is eligible for the platform's lending and earn product. ZebPay has featured Solana in its educational content, including price analysis and coverage of the broader Solana ecosystem. The platform's multi-asset support (400+ pairs) places Solana alongside other major Layer-1 assets such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB, and XRP.
Security Architecture
ZebPay stores 98% of user funds in multi-signature cold wallets to minimize online exposure. Hot wallet infrastructure is managed in partnership with BitGo, a regulated digital asset custodian. The platform operates a proprietary security framework called "Omnitrixx," described as a multi-chain security layer. Insurance coverage on custodied assets is reported at $250 million. ZebPay partners with Chainalysis for on-chain compliance monitoring and anti-money laundering screening. The platform has not reported a security breach since its 2014 launch.
Regulatory Standing
ZebPay maintains formal regulatory registrations in its primary markets. In India, the exchange is registered with the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) and compliant with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). ZebPay participates in parliamentary consultations on crypto regulation as a member of the Bharat Web3 Association (BWA). In Australia, the exchange is registered with AUSTRAC (Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre) and is a member of the Digital Economy Council of Australia (DECA). KYC verification is tiered across three levels, with higher levels unlocking increased trading limits and product access.
Solana Ecosystem Fit
ZebPay functions primarily as a centralized on-ramp and trading venue rather than a Solana-native protocol. Its relevance to the Solana ecosystem comes through SOL trading pairs, SOL-inclusive CryptoPacks, and the platform's lending product for SOL holders. For users in India and Australia -- two of Solana's growing retail markets -- ZebPay represents a regulated, mobile-friendly entry point to acquiring and managing SOL and Solana-ecosystem tokens. The exchange's focus on systematic investing tools (SIPs, auto-rebalancing CryptoPacks) and passive income products aligns with the interests of long-term SOL holders seeking structured exposure rather than active trading.
ZebPay does not operate smart contracts on Solana, run a validator, or provide DeFi primitives -- it interacts with the network at the asset layer through custody and trading infrastructure.
