About

TruBit

TruBit is a Latin American crypto trading and payments platform operated by Galactic Holdings, founded by CEO Maggie Wu in 2019. The company launched under the name Mexo Exchange in August 2020 before rebranding its trading arm to TruBit Pro in October 2022, simultaneously introducing TruBit Wallet as a separate consumer-facing app. The platform is headquartered in Mexico City with legal entities in Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia, and serves users across more than 30 countries. Galactic Holdings raised $10 million in pre-Series A funding to support its regional expansion.

Products

TruBit Wallet is the consumer app, targeting everyday users who want to buy, sell, hold, and spend cryptocurrency. It connects to Mexico's SPEI interbank transfer network, allowing users to fund accounts directly from a Mexican bank account. The app includes a TruBit Card — a Mastercard prepaid card that earns 5% Bitcoin cashback on purchases — along with an Earn+ interest program, P2P transfers by email or phone number, and instant currency conversion. It is available on iOS and Android.

TruBit Pro is the professional trading platform aimed at experienced traders in the region. It offers spot markets across pairs denominated in BTC, USDT, USDC, the MMXN Mexican peso stablecoin, Argentine pesos (ARS), and Brazilian reais (BRL), as well as perpetual futures on roughly 30 contracts. Advanced trading features include grid trading bots, copy trading, and a P2P marketplace. TruBit Pro also operates TruBit Academy, an educational content hub covering crypto fundamentals, trading strategies, and product guides in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Chinese. CoinMarketCap data shows the exchange handling approximately $187 million in 24-hour spot volume in recent periods.

TruBit Business is the B2B arm, offering over-the-counter block trades and a Block Trade API for institutional clients and high-volume buyers.

MMXN and the Solana Connection

TruBit is the primary distribution and exchange partner for MMXN, a Mexican peso stablecoin issued by Moneta Digital. MMXN launched in June 2021 and maintains a 1:1 peg with the Mexican peso (MXN), with reserves held at a licensed Mexican bank and attested by Armanino LLP. CertiK conducts security audits on the contract code. MMXN is deployed across multiple blockchains including Ethereum, Tron, Polygon, Solana, Stellar, and Binance Smart Chain, making it one of the few peso-pegged assets with a Solana presence. TruBit users can acquire MMXN through a SPEI bank wire at a 1:1 ratio and trade it across BTC/MMXN, ETH/MMXN, and USDT/MMXN pairs on TruBit Pro.

In May 2025, TruBit integrated USDY from Ondo Finance — a tokenized note backed by short-term US Treasuries offering up to 4.25% APY — giving LATAM users exposure to yield-bearing US dollar assets. USDY is available across several blockchains including Solana. The integration is restricted to non-US investors per Ondo's eligibility requirements.

Compliance and Security

TruBit holds a US Money Services Business (MSB) license, a Mexico Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) designation, an Argentina Payment Service Provider (PSP) classification plus VASP status, and a Peru VASP designation. The platform's SPEI integration is subject to Banxico oversight in Mexico. Moneta Digital, the MMXN issuer, operates under a license from Mexico's SAT and complies with the Federal Law for the Prevention and Identification of Operations with Illicit Proceeds.

For custody, TruBit has worked exclusively with Cobo since its founding in 2020. Cobo's infrastructure uses multi-party computation (MPC) threshold signature schemes for key management and Know Your Transaction (KYT) monitoring for real-time transaction surveillance. The expanded partnership announced in April 2025 is certified to SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001. TruBit claims zero security incidents across five years of operation.

Key Partnerships

TruBit has assembled a series of infrastructure and distribution partnerships to extend its cross-border payments capabilities.

In December 2024, TruBit partnered with Bridge — a stablecoin-focused money movement platform — to enable US-to-LATAM cross-border transfers at approximately 1% cost, down from the 5–10% typical of traditional remittance channels, with same-day settlement replacing the multi-day delays of legacy wire systems.

In February 2025, TruBit integrated MoneyGram Access to provide cash-based on and off-ramps. Users can deposit cash at OXXO stores in Mexico, Cobro Express locations in Argentina, or Bancolombia branches in Colombia, and receive USDC directly into their TruBit account, or reverse the flow to cash out digital assets.

In April 2025, TruBit joined the Circle Payments Network (CPN) as an early design partner — described at the time as one of the only LATAM participants in the network. The CPN role involves contributing to the development of shared APIs and real-time settlement standards using USDC and EURC alongside approximately 30 global organizations including Flutterwave and dLocal.

Market Position and Expansion

TruBit positions itself against Bitso, Binance, and Buenbit for the Latin American retail and professional crypto user base. Bloomberg Linea reported the platform had accumulated more than 300,000 users as of its profile of Maggie Wu, who immigrated from China and previously co-founded Krypital Group, a blockchain venture firm, in 2017 before pivoting to build TruBit. In January 2024, TruBit Pro announced entry into Hong Kong and Asian markets as part of a stated global expansion. The company has also signaled intent to obtain additional licenses in Brazil, Colombia, and European markets.

The dual-app structure — TruBit Wallet for retail and TruBit Pro for advanced traders — with free fund transfers between them reflects the company's stated goal of serving both the banked and underbanked segments of the Latin American population through a single ecosystem.
