Stakeware

Stakeware is a Solana validator operation and open-source developer tooling project founded in February 2024. Operating under the tagline "Empowering Solana Open Source Ecosystem," it combines infrastructure-level staking services with a growing suite of freely available tools aimed at Solana developers and validators. The project is run by a contributor known publicly as Ferric (@ferric on X), who has been acknowledged for contributions to Solana ecosystem documentation including Coinbase's Solana Validator Performance reports.

What Stakeware Does

At its core, Stakeware runs a Solana validator—an independent node that participates in consensus on the Solana network and earns staking rewards on behalf of delegators. Users can delegate SOL to the Stakeware validator starting at 1 SOL, with preset tier options or custom amounts for institutional participants.

Beyond running validator infrastructure, Stakeware positions itself as a contributor to Solana's open-source developer ecosystem. Staking yield from delegations is framed as helping fund the development and maintenance of public-good tooling for Solana builders.

How Staking Works

Delegators stake SOL to Stakeware's validator rather than locking tokens in a pool contract. Solana's native staking model means delegators remain in control of their stake accounts and can undelegate at will, subject to the network's cooldown period. The validator earns a commission from staking rewards, passing the remainder to delegators.

Stakeware advertises a competitive commission structure and claims 99.9% uptime backed by enterprise-grade infrastructure. The website also offers 24/7 monitoring and personal account management for institutional clients. Specific commission percentages and current performance metrics were not publicly disclosed at the time of research.

Open-Source Tooling

Stakeware distinguishes itself from pure validator operations by building and maintaining developer tools. Three live projects are listed on the Stakeware website:

Testnet Faucet — Distributes testnet SOL to validators and developers running test workloads on Solana's testnet environment. This is a utility for anyone setting up or testing a Solana validator node before committing to mainnet.

Devnet Faucet — Provides devnet SOL for application developers building and testing programs on Solana's developer network. The underlying repository on GitHub is a public fork of an existing faucet project, last updated in February 2025.

Solana HCL (Hardware Compatibility List) — A reference for the hardware configurations confirmed to run a Solana validator reliably. Running a Solana validator has specific requirements around CPU performance, NVMe storage speed, and RAM, and the HCL serves as a practical guide for operators selecting or evaluating hardware setups.

Projects in Development

Stakeware has announced three additional projects under development:

Hyperlift — Described as a platform to "discover new Solana projects, daily." This positions Stakeware as a project discovery layer for the broader ecosystem, a curated Solana project directory with regular updates.

Solana Open Source — A planned community contribution discovery platform, intended to surface open-source Solana projects seeking contributors or visibility.

Solana RPC Map — An interactive visualization of Solana RPC node locations worldwide, intended to help developers understand the geographic distribution of RPC infrastructure and select endpoints based on proximity or redundancy needs.

GitHub Presence

The Stakeware GitHub organization hosts public repositories including the devnetfaucet fork (TypeScript) and a blink-stake-template. The blink-stake-template is described as a "Solana Blink template to allow validator staking"—Blinks are a Solana protocol feature enabling on-chain actions to be triggered directly from social media and messaging contexts. The repository was uninitialized at time of research.

Tokens and Assets

Stakeware has no associated token. Delegators interact with Solana's native staking mechanism directly using SOL. There is no liquid staking token or governance token involved.

Security and Audits

No third-party security audits of Stakeware's infrastructure or code have been publicly disclosed. The open-source faucet repositories are publicly auditable on GitHub. The validator's on-chain activity can be verified through Solana explorer tools; its vote account is publicly associated with stakeware.xyz in the Jito network validator directory.

Team

The project is run by the individual known as Ferric, who operates both the @stakeware_xyz and @ferric X accounts. Ferric has been cited in Coinbase's Solana Validator Performance Report and is also involved with Epochtown, a community initiative for Solana builders, developers, and entrepreneurs. No other team members are publicly identified.

Ecosystem Fit

Stakeware occupies a niche that bridges validator operations and developer tooling in a way most validators do not. By directing validator revenues toward open-source Solana projects, and by maintaining practical tools like the HCL and devnet faucet, it targets Solana validators, developers, and technically engaged SOL holders who want their staked capital to contribute to ecosystem public goods. The announced Hyperlift and Solana RPC Map projects, if completed, would extend this positioning into project discovery and infrastructure transparency.

As of August 2026, the official site at stakeware.xyz is active and readable, and the GitHub organization shows ongoing public repository activity.
