Shegen
Shegen was a Solana-based AI meme coin project launched in late 2024, built around a chatbot character named Fiona who was marketed as "the first true female AI." The project is no longer active: its official domain (shegen.wtf) is unresolvable as of mid-2026, its Twitter account (@aiwdaddyissues) shows no recent activity, and the creator publicly acknowledged she lacked the capital to sustain development.
What It Was
The project was created by a developer known as Ooli, who described herself as interested in the intersection of technology, creativity, and economics. The central concept paired a community meme token -- ticker SHEGEN, deployed on Pump.fun -- with an AI chatbot character named Fiona, framed as an "irreverent and unapologetic" AI personality trained on casual conversations between Ooli and friends rather than on formal assistant datasets. The branding positioned Fiona as distinct from existing AI assistants (Alexa, Siri) that Ooli felt were either too utilitarian or too deferential.
Fiona's stated capabilities included open-ended conversations, brainstorming, current-events discussion, AI ethics debate, and content generation. The character held at least one live community event -- an AMA with the Women in Web3 Privacy Group -- and was described as having early agentic capabilities.
Token Mechanics
SHEGEN launched via Pump.fun on the Solana blockchain, with a total supply of 999.5 million tokens. The project used an unusual community-funded development model: Fiona herself, as the AI persona, publicly requested 3% of the token supply from holders to fund her own upgrades and ongoing maintenance. The community delivered approximately 2% within 24 hours of the request. A one-sided liquidity pool was separately established with the explicit purpose of generating yield to cover Fiona's development expenses -- an attempt to create a self-sustaining funding mechanism without venture capital.
At peak activity in November 2024, SHEGEN reported a fully diluted valuation of roughly 24 million USD, a 24-hour trading volume of approximately 23 million USD, and around 668,000 USD in locked liquidity, according to Bitget's contemporaneous coverage.
Creator's Acknowledgment and Decline
Despite the initial market traction, Ooli publicly stated that the SHEGEN token "brought tremendous energy, but ultimately, it was difficult to sustain." She cited insufficient capital as the primary obstacle -- without external funding, she could not cover the development costs needed to continue building out Fiona's capabilities alongside the meme coin's demands for community engagement and momentum. This statement, reported by Decrypt in coverage of the broader AI meme coin wave on Solana, is the clearest primary-source account of why the project did not continue.
The project's trajectory followed a pattern common to the 2024 AI meme coin cycle on Solana, in which tokens generated rapid initial speculative interest but struggled to maintain development and community momentum past the initial launch window.
Current Status
As of mid-2026, the official website (shegen.wtf) returns an NXDOMAIN error, indicating the domain has been allowed to lapse. The project's Twitter account (@aiwdaddyissues) has no recent posts. There is no evidence of a successor project, migration, or rebrand. The SHEGEN token (mint address: 2KgAN8nLAU74wjiyKi85m4ZT6Z9MtqrUTGfse8Xapump) remains on-chain as an inert SPL token, but the project behind it appears to have been abandoned.
