Router Nitro
Router Nitro is an intent-based cross-chain bridge powered by Router Chain that facilitates asset transfers between blockchain networks with reduced costs and enhanced speed. The bridge supports transfers across multiple EVM and non-EVM chains including Ethereum, Solana, Bitcoin, Tron, and Cosmos-based networks, enabling users to move tokens such as ETH, WBTC, USDC, and USDT between different blockchain ecosystems. Router Nitro utilizes Router Chain infrastructure for security and validation, offering cross-chain swaps with savings up to 60 percent on gas fees while maintaining decentralized operation through validator consensus and liquidity pool management.
Router Protocol
Router Protocol is a non-custodial cross-chain execution network that aggregates bridges, DEXs, and solvers across 50-plus blockchains into a single programmable routing layer, enabling institutional-scale swaps with sub-10 basis-point slippage and up to $50 million per trade.
Background
Router Protocol launched in December 2020 as a cross-chain liquidity layer, initially focused on aggregating routes between EVM chains using a proof-of-authority bridge architecture. Co-founded by Priyeshu Garg, the project iterated through several architectural generations before arriving at its current form. In July 2024 it launched Router Chain, a proof-of-stake Layer 1 designed to coordinate cross-chain messaging. That L1 suffered a security exploit in July 2025, and in September 2025 a DAO vote passed to sunset Router Chain entirely, with full shutdown completed in October 2025. The protocol's infrastructure focus shifted to the Open Graph Architecture (OGA) that had been in development alongside Router Chain and is now the sole execution layer.
Open Graph Architecture
OGA is the technical core of the current protocol. It treats bridges, DEXs, and liquidity solvers as nodes in a unified, permissionless execution graph rather than as fixed integrations. Four components underpin the system:
Permissionless Node Registry. Solvers and bridges register using EIP-712 authentication. On-chain reputation scoring determines which nodes are eligible to fulfill a given route.
Split-and-Optimize Engine. Large orders are parallelized across multiple venues and sub-routes simultaneously. Router reports successfully executing a 6,000 ETH swap with 100% completion in internal tests by splitting it across 30 bridge-and-DEX combinations. This mechanism allows trades far beyond what any single liquidity venue could absorb.
Unified Messaging Hub. The system adapts between cross-chain messaging protocols — including LayerZero and Wormhole — at runtime, selecting the appropriate transport layer for each leg of a route.
Modular Hook Architecture. On-chain hooks let developers attach custom logic to route execution, enabling programmable workflows on top of the swap infrastructure.
Products
The primary user-facing product is Router App, launched in Q3 2025 alongside OGA. It provides direct cross-chain swap and bridge execution through the permissionless solver network.
Router Nitro is the bridge component, supporting 50-plus chains including Ethereum, Solana, Sui, Bitcoin, Tron, and Cosmos chains. Nitro integrated MatchID in 2025 to simplify transfers across 40-plus EVM chains, with Solana and Tron also supported. The bridge's design emphasizes low-latency settlement with isolated revert logic per leg, keeping end-to-end revert risk below 0.5%.
Router Widget is a fully customizable, whitelabeled swap and bridge interface available as both an npm SDK and an iframe embed. It requires no backend infrastructure from the integrating developer and no approval process to deploy.
Router API exposes real-time quote and route data for protocols wanting to integrate cross-chain execution programmatically. The API includes an Xplore MCP integration for tool-assisted querying.
Integrated liquidity sources span the major cross-chain infrastructure providers, including Uniswap, Stargate, Across, KyberSwap, Jupiter, Chainflip, and Thorchain among 15-plus partners.

Router publishes the following execution metrics under OGA:

ROUTE Token
The ROUTE token migrated from v1 to v2 in 2025 at a conversion ratio of 1:33.33, expanding total supply from approximately 30 million to 1 billion tokens. The migration deadline was August 25, 2025; unmigrated v1 tokens were subsequently burned, removing roughly 0.7% of the new supply. Circulating supply as of the migration's completion stood near 678 million tokens.
Token utility is dual-purpose: governance (1 ROUTE = 1 vote, counted across Ethereum, Polygon, and formerly Router Chain) and protocol economics. Transaction fees fund token buybacks and burns. Emissions of 10 million ROUTE per year began post-Q3 2026, allocated 60% to ecosystem and community incentives, 30% to the Router Foundation, and 10% to core contributors.
A separate vesting update in January 2026 delayed scheduled unlocks by six months to reduce near-term supply pressure. Approximately 73% of the total supply is vested, with new emissions structured to extend through multiple years.

Router Protocol has conducted a substantial series of third-party audits, published in the public audit-reports repository on GitHub. Audited components and approximate dates include:

Oak Security and Hacken are among the auditors associated with Router Protocol's security reviews. In July 2025, a Router Chain Exploit Incident Report was published following the security event that preceded the L1 shutdown. Solana Ecosystem Integration
Router Protocol's relationship with Solana runs through Router Nitro, which lists Solana as a supported chain. Jupiter — the dominant DEX aggregator on Solana — is integrated as a liquidity source within OGA, meaning Solana-side liquidity is available as part of Router's routing graph. The September 2024 Router Solana Integration audit indicates the Solana-facing components underwent a dedicated security review before going live.
For Solana users, the practical implication is access to cross-chain execution that routes through Solana liquidity (via Jupiter and native DEXs) when moving assets between Solana and other chains, or when a route through Solana offers better pricing than an alternative path. The OGA architecture treats Solana as one node in a broader network rather than requiring a dedicated Solana bridge product.
Current Status
As of late 2025 and into 2026, Router Protocol is operating entirely through the OGA layer following Router Chain's October 2025 shutdown. The team's stated direction is expanding OGA integrations and developer tooling rather than operating blockchain infrastructure. The ROUTE v1-to-v2 migration is complete, token vesting is ongoing, and the project is community-published without an active centralized development announcement channel beyond the official X account and Medium blog.
The pivot away from its own L1 positions Router Protocol as a middleware and aggregation layer — a narrower and arguably more defensible role than chain operation, though one that places it in direct competition with other cross-chain aggregators including Li.Fi, Socket, and Squid.
