Rango Exchange
Rango Exchange locates optimal paths for token swaps between different blockchains through integrated bridges and DEXes. The platform examines thousands of possible routes to find the most efficient, secure, and cost-effective path for swapping from any token on any blockchain to any other token.
Rango
Rango Exchange is a cross-chain swap aggregator that lets users trade any token on any supported blockchain for any token on any other supported blockchain, routing through the most efficient combination of DEXs and bridges in a single transaction. Founded in August 2021, it has grown into one of the broadest chain-coverage aggregators in production DeFi.
How It Works
When a user requests a swap, Rango routing engine evaluates paths across its entire catalogue of integrated DEXs and bridges simultaneously. It scores each candidate route by cost, speed, safety, and expected output, then executes the best option. A single swap may involve swapping into an intermediary token on the source chain, bridging across, and swapping again on the destination chain, all handled as a single user interaction.
At the protocol level, Rango relies on smart contracts that enforce all-or-nothing execution: if any step fails, the transaction reverts and funds are returned rather than left stranded mid-route. For cross-chain message passing, Rango supports GMP (General Message Passing), LayerZero, and IBC depending on the chains involved.
The platform coverage spans four infrastructure categories:
- Chains: 84+ networks including all major EVM chains (Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Polygon, BNB Chain, Optimism), Solana, Bitcoin and UTXO chains (Litecoin), Cosmos ecosystem chains via IBC, Tron, Starknet, TON, Sui, Aptos, and NEAR.
- DEXs: 170+ integrated, including [[PROJECT:219]] (Jupiter) on Solana, 1inch, Uniswap, SushiSwap, PancakeSwap, and Osmosis on Cosmos.
- Bridges: Stargate, Across, Wormhole, Hop, CBridge, Arbitrum Bridge, Rainbow Bridge, and others.
Key Products
Rango App - The main trading interface at rango.exchange. Supports wallet connections for MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Binance Web3 Wallet, Exodus, and others. Users can execute cross-chain swaps without switching networks or pre-loading gas on the destination chain.
Rango Intents (Gasless Swaps) - A newer execution layer that separates signing from execution. Users sign an intent; solvers or relayers handle on-chain execution and gas payment. The swap cost folds into the trade rather than being paid separately. Rango describes this as a core building block for chain abstraction, making DeFi feel like a single execution layer rather than a maze of gas balances and bridge UIs.
API - A REST API that third-party platforms and wallets use to embed Rango routing. Over 150 business clients have integrated the API, including major wallet providers.
SDK - A JavaScript SDK for developers building DApps that want cross-chain swap functionality without building a routing engine from scratch.
Widget - A no-code embeddable swap UI that projects can drop into their front end with minimal configuration.
Metrics and Scale
As of mid-2026, Rango cumulative figures reported on its official site are:
- $8.49B+ in total volume processed
- 11.55M+ swaps completed
- 2.88M+ unique wallets
- 150+ business clients
Messari data from Q2 2025 showed Rango processing $532.5 million in volume (annualised at $2.1 billion) and 892,500 transactions in the quarter, with Solana its most active chain. The platform reported a 95.4% transaction success rate for that period.
Solana Ecosystem Fit
Solana has been Rango highest-volume chain per Q2 2025 Messari data. The platform integrates [[PROJECT:219]] (Jupiter) as the primary DEX on Solana, enabling Rango to source competitive on-chain prices before bridging to or from other chains. Users routing into or out of Solana assets benefit from Jupiter liquidity depth alongside Rango bridge selection.
Rango native (non-EVM) chain support, covering Solana alongside Bitcoin, Cosmos, and Tron, sets it apart from aggregators that remain EVM-only. For Solana users wanting to move capital across ecosystems in a single step, Rango provides a direct path that would otherwise require manual multi-protocol bridging.
Security and Audits
Rango stated policy is that it never deploys unaudited smart contracts. The platform has completed multiple third-party security audits of its routing contracts. Underlying bridges carry their own separate audit histories. Rango has maintained a zero-exploit record since its August 2021 launch.
Operational security measures include:
- Non-custodial architecture: users private keys and funds remain in their own wallets throughout every swap
- Admin functions protected by multi-signature controls
- Infrastructure-level WAF (Web Application Firewall) and DDoS mitigation
- Circuit breakers and dynamic protocol monitoring that automatically disable unhealthy bridges or DEXs
Team and Funding
Rango was founded in August 2021. Vahid Kaya is a named co-founder. The project is backed by Binance Labs, Nomad, and Thorchain. Binance Labs investment rationale centred on Rango interoperability infrastructure and its goal of enabling DeFi growth across diverse blockchain ecosystems. Binance Co-Founder Yi He stated that "Rango suite of services aligns with Binance Labs goal of supporting projects that bolster cross-chain development and innovation." A strategic funding round closed in June 2024.
RANGO Token
Rango has a native governance token, RANGO. Documentation indicates 8% of the total supply was allocated to airdrops for platform adoption. The token functions as a governance instrument across Rango supported chains. Full tokenomics and vesting schedules have been published separately by the team.
Summary
Rango is among the most broadly connected cross-chain swap aggregators in production, combining DEX aggregation and bridge aggregation in a single routing layer across 84+ chains. Its API-first model has driven adoption through 150+ wallet and DApp integrations. For the Solana ecosystem, Rango functions as an inbound and outbound liquidity corridor, routing through Jupiter on-chain while connecting to the rest of multi-chain DeFi in a single user action. The platform zero-exploit history and consistent audit discipline position it as infrastructure-grade tooling built for sustained, production use.
