About

Fuse

Fuse

Fuse is an EVM-compatible Layer-1 blockchain launched in August 2019 with a singular focus: making blockchain payments practical for everyday businesses and consumers. Rather than competing on throughput metrics alone, Fuse has built what it describes as a chain-to-consumer stack, vertically integrating the underlying blockchain, developer tooling, and consumer-facing applications into a single network purpose-built for payments and consumer finance.

How It Works

Fuse operates as a delegated Proof of Stake (dPoS) blockchain, a model introduced with the Fuse 2.0 upgrade in February 2023, which replaced the original Proof of Authority consensus. Under dPoS, FUSE token holders can delegate stake to validators to participate in network security and governance. The architecture prioritizes speed and cost: transactions finalize in under two seconds, and fees average approximately $0.0001 per transaction, a figure the team benchmarks as roughly 1,000 times cheaper than Ethereum.

The network is fully EVM-compatible, meaning smart contracts and decentralized applications built for Ethereum, Arbitrum, or Polygon can be deployed to Fuse without modification. Fuse Bridge enables asset transfers across Ethereum, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, and Polygon, keeping the network liquid within the broader EVM ecosystem.

Developer Stack

The core developer offering is FuseBox, an SDK for building gasless, account-abstracted Web3 applications on iOS and Android. Account abstraction removes the requirement for end users to manage private keys or hold gas tokens directly, letting businesses deliver app experiences that feel like traditional fintech products. FuseBox is complemented by:

  • Fuse Console, a management dashboard for APIs and deployed smart contracts
  • Smart Wallets API for non-custodial wallet creation and management
  • Trade API for on-chain swap and liquidity routing
  • Notifications API for real-time transaction alerts for end users
  • GraphQL API for indexed blockchain data for application queries

The goal of this tooling layer is to abstract blockchain complexity away from business developers who understand fintech but not smart contract architecture.

Ecosystem Applications

The most prominent consumer application built on Fuse is Solid, the flagship non-custodial neobank. Launched in 2025, Solid offers a Visa virtual card through a partnership with Bridge, enabling users to spend crypto balances at traditional merchants. Within its first months, Solid attracted over 3,500 users and accumulated more than $350,000 in total value locked.

Freedom World is a consumer payments app targeting Southeast Asia with a focus on cross-border transfers. It recorded 131,000 app downloads by end-2025, a 1,188 percent increase year-over-year, with 9.11 million THB in in-app transaction volume.

Voltage Finance serves as the primary DeFi hub on Fuse, offering AMM-based swaps and liquidity provision. The VOLT token has burned approximately 428.5 million tokens, roughly 25 percent of a 1.72 billion token burn target, as of the 2025 network recap.

As of late 2025, the Fuse ecosystem counted more than 150 active projects and 63,682 verified contracts, with 11,273 average daily active wallets and 194.7 million lifetime transactions processed since inception.

FUSE Token

FUSE is the native token of the network, serving four primary functions: paying gas fees for on-chain transactions, staking by validators and delegators to participate in consensus, governance voting on protocol proposals, and general value transfer within ecosystem applications. The token is listed on major centralized exchanges including Binance, Huobi, and KuCoin, and wrapped versions (wFUSE) are available on BNB Chain, Arbitrum, and Polygon.

Tokenomics have been tightened in recent cycles. The FRC-02 governance proposal reduced annual inflation from 3 percent to 1.5 percent, with average block rewards dropping from 0.0327 FUSE in 2024 to 0.0144 FUSE in 2025. The network reports 1.24 million total FUSE holders as of its 2025 year-end recap.

Security and Audits

A 2020 security audit by Zokyo rated the network at 93 percent. However, as of public reporting through 2026, no audit specific to the Fuse 2.0 smart contract architecture has been publicly released. This represents a transparency gap worth noting for developers evaluating the platform for production deployments.

Team

Fuse was founded by Mark Smargon in 2019 and is headquartered in Tel Aviv, Israel. The team has not prominently publicized its full composition beyond the founding structure, operating with a community-focused model in which the 150-plus ecosystem projects are built by independent developers and service providers.

2026 Strategic Direction

In 2026, Fuse is making a structural shift: Solid is moving to the center of the commercial strategy, with Fuse itself repositioning as the application chain built specifically to support its growth. The primary strategic priorities are payments infrastructure, branded stablecoins, and loyalty token issuance for businesses.

A newer initiative targets the emerging AI agent economy. Fuse launched a native agent wallet capable of earning yield, and the network has added support for the x402 payment protocol, which allows AI agents to settle payments programmatically without requiring bank accounts or third-party payment processors. This positions Fuse as infrastructure for autonomous agent commerce alongside traditional consumer finance applications.

Ecosystem Context

Fuse is an independent EVM Layer-1 rather than a Solana-native project. Its architecture, developer tooling, and cross-chain bridges operate within the Ethereum ecosystem, with interoperability extending to BNB Chain, Arbitrum, and Polygon. The focus on last-mile payments, consumer finance in emerging markets, and AI agent payments represents a specialized niche in the Layer-1 landscape, prioritizing real-world transaction volume and business adoption over speculative DeFi activity.
