About

Deskoin

Deskoin is a French cryptocurrency exchange platform founded in 2018 and headquartered in Metz, France. Built around the principle that European investors should be able to buy, sell, and manage digital assets within a fully regulated, French-language environment, Deskoin has grown to serve more than 50,000 users and lists more than 128 cryptocurrencies -- a larger catalog than any other French-native exchange. Solana (SOL) is among the supported assets, available for purchase starting at 5 euros.

Origins and Mission

Deskoin launched in June 2018 with a specific ambition: to give French retail investors a domestically regulated alternative to large international exchanges. The founding team, led by President Robin Charlier, aimed for an onboarding experience fast enough for non-technical users -- account creation and identity verification in under five minutes -- while maintaining the compliance standards expected by French financial authorities.

The platform obtained its Digital Asset Service Provider (PSAN) registration with the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF) in 2021, making it one of the earlier French exchanges to complete the process. This AMF registration covered buying, selling, exchanging, and custodying crypto-assets on behalf of clients, placing Deskoin within France's formal financial regulatory perimeter at a time when many European platforms were still operating in a grey zone.

MiCA Authorization and European Expansion

The most consequential development in Deskoin's history came in April 2026 when the AMF granted it full authorization as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA). The authorization covers six of the ten services defined by MiCA: custody and administration of crypto-assets, crypto-asset transfers, exchange of crypto-assets for funds or other crypto-assets, execution of client orders, and crypto-asset advisory services. It also extends authorization from ACPR (Banque de France) for payment-related activities.

The AMF is considered among the more demanding MiCA supervisors in the EU, with strict requirements around governance, operational resilience, and cybersecurity. Receiving MiCA authorization from the AMF effectively grants Deskoin a European passport -- the right to operate across all 27 EU member states without seeking additional national-level approvals. President Robin Charlier described the authorization as a proof point that building a sovereign crypto infrastructure in France and Europe is possible.

The company has also entered a partnership with Olky, a European payment institution, enabling unified fiat and crypto payment solutions across the continent and opening a pathway to target Web3 companies and financial institutions seeking compliant European crypto infrastructure.

Platform Features

Deskoin's interface is designed for investors making long-term, euro-denominated purchases rather than active traders running order books or leverage strategies. The platform trades in EURC (Circle's euro-backed stablecoin) rather than USD-denominated pairs, removing the currency exchange layer that adds friction and cost for European users.

Key features include:

Dollar-Cost Averaging (DCA): Recurring purchase plans let users automatically buy a selected cryptocurrency on a defined schedule starting at 20 euros, allowing portfolio exposure to accumulate over time with reduced timing risk.

Thematic Investment Packs: Deskoin bundles assets into curated themes -- AI, DeFi, and memecoins are among the current offerings -- giving less experienced investors a single-click way to gain diversified exposure to a sector without selecting individual tokens.

Crypto-to-Crypto Exchange: Following a 2023 platform redesign, users can swap directly between cryptocurrencies without converting to fiat first. The redesign also unified pricing on a transparent 1.49% flat fee structure.

Portfolio Tracking: Integrated tools show realized and unrealized performance across holdings, useful for tax reporting under the French flat tax (PFU) regime.

Mobile Applications: Deskoin offers native iOS and Android apps alongside its web interface, covering the full range of buy, sell, exchange, deposit, and withdrawal operations.

Solana on Deskoin

Solana (SOL) is one of the platform's featured assets alongside Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, and Dogecoin. Deskoin's SOL page highlights the network's throughput -- up to 65,000 transactions per second -- as part of its investor education content. Users can purchase SOL starting at 5 euros via bank transfer (no deposit fee, 1 euro withdrawal fee) or by card (1.50 to 3% depending on method), with SOL also accessible through the platform's DCA recurring plans. Staking or yield-generating products for SOL are not currently offered; Deskoin's model is custody plus spot trading rather than DeFi participation.

Fee Structure

Deskoin's pricing is straightforward:

  • Bank transfer: 0% deposit fee; 1 euro flat withdrawal fee
  • Card purchases: 1.50% to 3% depending on card type
  • Trading (buy/sell/swap): 1.00% to 1.49% flat fee, 1 euro minimum
  • Crypto withdrawals: Variable network fees (approximate range 2 to 50 euros)

There are no recurring subscription fees or tiered account tiers for retail users. The enterprise and SME offering (Deskoin Pro) uses a separate fee schedule and includes KYB (Know Your Business) approval typically within 72 hours.

Enterprise and Professional Services

Deskoin operates a distinct product line for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and professional investors. Corporate clients can manage treasury in crypto, conduct OTC trades outside the standard retail interface, and access Deskoin Flows -- a service enabling compliant crypto-to-fiat conversion for business operations. A business referral program is also available for intermediaries and financial advisors who recommend the platform to clients.

User Reputation

Deskoin holds a 4.3/5 rating on Trustpilot based on more than 183 reviews, with recurring themes of responsive French-language support, a smooth onboarding process, and a clean interface. The platform's positioning as an approachable, regulation-first option for French crypto newcomers is reflected in user feedback more than reviews praising advanced trading tools -- which the platform does not offer.

Competitive Positioning

Within the French market, Deskoin differentiates on three axes: the largest asset catalog of any domestically regulated French platform (128+ cryptocurrencies), native EURC trading pairs that avoid dollar conversion costs, and a full MiCA CASP license that carries greater legal weight than legacy PSAN registrations held by peers still operating under the transitional period. The platform is not competing with global exchanges on fees or trading functionality; it targets the retail French investor who prioritizes regulatory assurance, French-language support, and a straightforward experience over low-cost high-frequency trading.
