CryptAPI

CryptAPI is a non-custodial cryptocurrency payment gateway that has been operational since 2018. It is designed for merchants, developers, and e-commerce operators who want to accept digital currency payments without handing custody of funds to a third party. The platform positions itself on simplicity: no registration is required to start using the API, and no API keys are needed for initial integration. Developers can connect to the service and begin generating payment addresses immediately.

How It Works

CryptAPI uses a forwarding model. When a merchant wants to accept a payment, they call the CryptAPI endpoint with two pieces of information: their own wallet address and a callback URL. CryptAPI generates a unique, one-time deposit address for that specific transaction. The buyer sends cryptocurrency to that address, and CryptAPI automatically detects the on-chain payment, deducts its fee, and forwards the remaining amount directly to the merchant's wallet. The merchant's backend receives a webhook notification at the callback URL confirming the payment.

Because funds flow through CryptAPI only momentarily during forwarding — and settle into the merchant's wallet on-chain in the same transaction — the gateway is described as non-custodial. CryptAPI does not hold balances on behalf of merchants, and there is no settlement delay waiting for CryptAPI to release funds from an internal account.

Solana and Multi-Chain Support

CryptAPI supports Solana (SOL) as one of its 11 blockchain networks, alongside Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Zcash, Ethereum, Tron, and several EVM-compatible chains including Arbitrum One, Polygon, Avalanche-C, Base, Optimism, Linea, Berachain, and Monad. Across these networks, merchants can accept more than 90 individual cryptocurrencies and tokens.

Solana is listed as a supported network in CryptAPI's cryptocurrency catalog, which covers native SOL and tokens on the Solana network. The inclusion of Solana is part of CryptAPI's broad multi-chain coverage rather than a Solana-specific product focus — there is no dedicated Solana SDK or Solana-native tooling separate from the general API.

It supports 30-plus fiat currencies for price display, with exchange rates sourced from CoinGecko and refreshed every five minutes. QR code payment support is built in, and the plugin does not require a CryptAPI account — merchants enter their wallet address directly in the plugin settings.

Custom API integration. Developers building custom storefronts or applications can use CryptAPI's REST API directly. The company publishes client libraries for PHP and Python (Django), and its GitHub organization houses 13 repositories covering these integrations. The API supports webhook callbacks for payment confirmation, allowing event-driven order fulfillment in backend systems.

Fee Structure

CryptAPI's fees are tiered by 30-day processing volume:

• $0–$5,000 monthly volume: 1% per transaction
• Volume milestones reduce the rate progressively, down to 0.25% at $10 million or more in monthly throughput

The company advertises no hidden costs — the published percentage is the only charge deducted at forwarding. There are no monthly subscription fees or setup costs.

Security Model

The non-custodial design is CryptAPI's primary security claim. Because funds are forwarded on-chain to the merchant's wallet rather than pooled in a CryptAPI-held account, there is no centralized reserve to be compromised in a custody breach. Merchants retain control of their private keys at all times. The trade-off is that CryptAPI still sits in the transaction path as the intermediary address generator, which means merchants rely on CryptAPI's infrastructure uptime and address integrity for each payment.

The platform's plugins are open source, allowing developers to audit the integration code directly. CryptAPI's core forwarding infrastructure is not open source, however.

Solana Ecosystem Fit

CryptAPI's relevance to the Solana ecosystem is primarily as a payment acceptance tool for merchants who want to include SOL — or Solana-based tokens — as one of many checkout options alongside Bitcoin and EVM assets. It is not a Solana-native protocol and does not integrate with Solana-specific infrastructure such as the Solana Pay standard, Solana wallet adapter, or on-chain programs. Merchants targeting Solana-native users would receive SOL payments forwarded to a Solana wallet they control, but the mechanism is identical to how CryptAPI handles any other supported network.
