BlockBee Payment Gateway

BlockBee enables businesses to accept cryptocurrency payments through online, in-person, and messaging channels. Merchants can implement hosted checkout pages, generate deposit addresses, integrate custom payment flows via API, use e-commerce plugins for platforms including WooCommerce and PrestaShop, process in-person transactions through QR codes on mobile devices, or accept payments through Telegram bot commands. The system processes transactions across multiple blockchains with automatic confirmation tracking.

BlockBee

BlockBee is a B2B cryptocurrency payment processor that enables businesses to accept digital asset payments with direct, non-custodial settlement to their own wallets. Founded in September 2022 as the enterprise successor to CryptAPI, a widely-used crypto payment API, BlockBee carries forward its predecessor infrastructure while expanding to a full-stack payment platform targeting merchants, e-commerce operators, and developers. By January 2026, the platform had processed over $100 million in transactions for more than 10,000 merchants globally.

The Problem BlockBee Solves

Accepting cryptocurrency payments has historically presented three friction points for businesses: slow or unreliable transaction confirmations, poor customer-facing checkout experiences, and the operational risk of handing custody of funds to a third-party gateway. Traditional crypto processors require merchants to trust a centralized intermediary that holds funds before settlement, creating counterparty risk and potential regulatory exposure.

BlockBee eliminates custodial risk entirely. When a customer pays, funds are forwarded directly to the merchant's own wallet address. BlockBee never holds merchant funds in transit; it acts as a routing and notification layer between the blockchain and the merchant's existing wallet infrastructure.

How It Works

BlockBee's core mechanism relies on address forwarding. For each payment, the API generates a unique receiving address. When the customer's transaction is detected on-chain, BlockBee monitors confirmations and, once the required threshold is met, automatically forwards the funds to the merchant's configured wallet. A signed webhook callback is dispatched to the merchant's endpoint in real time, with automatic retry logic introduced in June 2026.

Fiat-to-crypto conversion happens at checkout: BlockBee fetches live exchange rates from CoinGecko every five minutes across more than 33 fiat currencies, so customers see a crypto amount matching the product's fiat price at the moment of purchase. No conversion of crypto to fiat is offered; BlockBee delivers the chosen cryptocurrency, not a fiat equivalent.

Merchants can configure wallet splitting, distributing incoming payments across up to 20 separate wallet addresses at configurable ratios, useful for revenue sharing between partners or separating operating funds.

Integration Options

BlockBee offers multiple paths to integration covering both developer and no-code use cases.

Developer-facing tools include a RESTful payment API supporting custom payment flows, deposit page generation, recurring subscription billing, and mass payouts via API or CSV file upload. The API covers address generation, webhook verification using signed payloads, and confirmation logic.

No-code and low-code options include a hosted checkout page, payment links, point-of-sale QR codes, and a Telegram bot integration. Official e-commerce plugins are maintained for WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento, OpenCart, PrestaShop, Odoo, Bubble, and WHMCS. The PrestaShop plugin received a major rewrite in May 2026 adding hosted checkout and webhook signature verification, and the WHMCS plugin launched in July 2026.

Supported Assets and Networks

BlockBee supports more than 100 cryptocurrencies across multiple blockchains. Confirmed assets include Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), BNB Chain, Litecoin (LTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Tron (TRX), Dogecoin (DOGE), Shiba Inu (SHIB), Zcash (ZEC), and stablecoins USDT and USDC across supported chains. Berachain was added in May 2026 supporting BERA, WETH, WBTC, and USDT on that network.

There are no platform-native tokens. BlockBee charges fees as a percentage of each transaction rather than requiring merchants or users to hold a governance or utility token.

Fees

BlockBee's fee model is transaction-based with no setup costs, no monthly subscription, and no minimum volume requirements. Fees start at 0.25% per transaction and scale depending on service tier and volume, with some integrations documenting up to 1% for transaction processing. Network fees for on-chain forwarding are passed through separately.

Security and Compliance

The platform's primary security design is non-custodial architecture. Because BlockBee never holds merchant funds, the attack surface associated with custodial gateways — exchange hacks, insolvency, or exit — does not apply to merchants using the service. Webhook payloads are signed, allowing merchants to cryptographically verify that callbacks originate from BlockBee.

BlockBee operates under an Anti-Money Laundering compliance policy. No independent smart contract audits are publicly documented, consistent with the platform's model: it interacts with native blockchain address forwarding rather than deploying on-chain smart contracts.

Team

BlockBee was founded by three co-founders who previously built CryptAPI: Stefano Moretti (CEO), Jorge Batista (CTO), and Ariano Angelo (Tech Lead). The founding team brings more than 25 years of combined experience in finance and cryptocurrency infrastructure. The company maintains presences on X, Discord, LinkedIn, Telegram, and YouTube, and has served as the official crypto payment processor for the Bitcoin Amsterdam Conference in both 2024 and 2025. BlockBee holds a 4.3 out of 5 rating on Trustpilot.

Solana Ecosystem Fit

BlockBee includes Solana as a first-class supported network, enabling merchants to accept SOL and Solana-based assets including USDC through the same API and plugin infrastructure used for other chains. For Solana-native projects seeking to monetize through merchant checkout flows or subscription billing, BlockBee provides an off-the-shelf payment rail with no custody requirements. The platform's non-custodial design and direct wallet settlement align with Solana's emphasis on user sovereignty and on-chain finality, making it a practical bridge between Solana's fast, low-cost transaction environment and real-world commerce.
