AstraBanq
Crypto-native neobanking spanning fiat rails and the Solana ecosystem
On-chain activity
AstraPay
AstraPay is a non-custodial Web3 payment protocol enabling businesses and creators to accept cryptocurrency payments through checkout buttons, payment links, or direct API integration. The system generates temporary wallet addresses per transaction and automatically transfers funds to the merchant designated receiving wallet, with fees starting at 0.5 percent per transaction.
AstraBanq
AstraBanq is the neobanking arm of the Astra ecosystem, a technology and finance company registered in the UAE, Cyprus, and the Cayman Islands and founded in November 2023. Operated by McAstra Capital LTD, AstraBanq positions itself as a bridge between conventional banking infrastructure and the on-chain economy, allowing individuals and businesses to hold fiat and crypto in a single account without routing funds through third-party integrations.
What AstraBanq Does
The platform targets users who operate across both fiat and crypto — freelancers, remote workers, and businesses that send or receive cross-border payments and want to settle in or out of crypto without friction. Accounts open in minutes and support balances in USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, and AED, with access to over 40 currencies for conversion. Geographic coverage spans more than 170 countries.
Every AstraBanq account comes with a dedicated IBAN, enabling direct international wire transfers. For outbound payments, the platform supports SWIFT, SEPA, ACH, Fedwire, Interac, and local faster-payment rails, covering most major corridors without a third-party payment provider in the flow.
Crypto on-ramp and off-ramp capabilities are built directly into the account interface. Users can convert fiat to crypto or crypto to fiat from within the same dashboard they use for wire transfers and card management. The platform describes its crypto-to-fiat off-ramp as one of the more streamlined experiences available, with no separate exchange or custody layer required.
Account Types and Card Products
AstraBanq offers two account tiers. Personal accounts target individuals and require standard KYC verification. Business and corporate accounts go through a full KYB onboarding process and include team access controls along with the same global payment and card capabilities.
Three card formats are available: a plastic card for everyday use, a virtual card with instant issuance, and a premium metal card. All three link directly to the account balance and provide real-time transaction visibility. Virtual cards can be added to Apple Pay and Google Pay, allowing contactless payments from a mobile device.
Security Architecture
Security on AstraBanq combines standard banking-grade controls with AI-assisted monitoring. The platform implements AES-256 encryption, multi-layered authentication protocols, and Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) as a gate for sensitive actions. Continuous monitoring relies on AstraAI-powered anomaly detection, which flags unusual patterns in real time. KYC and KYB verification are required at account creation and are governed by AML compliance procedures under the company's FINTRAC registration in Canada (M20573902).
The Astra Ecosystem and Solana Connection
AstraBanq does not operate in isolation. It is one component of a broader Astra ecosystem that integrates neobanking, decentralized trading, crypto payments, AI tooling, and social intelligence. The ecosystem's other primary products include:
- AstraDEX — A decentralized exchange that operates on Solana and EVM-compatible chains, featuring Trade-to-Earn mechanics and AI-assisted smart transaction routing. The DEX's GitHub organization is named AstraDEX-Solana, reflecting Solana as its primary chain.
- AstraPay — A non-custodial crypto payment processor offering API, SDK, and MCP server integration options, usable by ecommerce platforms, SaaS businesses, and blockchain applications. AstraPay is integrated directly into AstraBanq business accounts, giving holders a single interface for fiat payments and crypto settlement.
- AstraPad — A multichain token launchpad developed in partnership with Google Cloud.
- Astra AI — AI assistants, smart contract audit tooling, market analysis, and image generation, all available within the ecosystem.
- AstraX Capital — The venture arm of the group, focused on early-stage Web3 investments.
The ecosystem's native tokens, $ASTRA and $ADEX, power utility within the DEX layer. Holding $ASTRA provides tiered discounts on AstraDEX trading fees (ranging from 5% to 25%) and access to $ADEX token farming, creating an incentive loop between the banking and trading products.
The Solana commitment extends beyond the DEX. In April 2025, Astra Fintech announced a $100 million fund dedicated to the Solana ecosystem, with investments already directed toward cross-chain infrastructure, liquidity routing, and on-chain AI agent projects. The company described the initiative as its transition from ecosystem sponsor to long-term Solana-focused strategic investor.
Scale and Partnerships
The Astra ecosystem has reported $20 million in investment commitments, more than 100 ecosystem partners with a combined valuation exceeding $2 billion, and a Telegram-based social bot network reaching more than 2 million users. Strategic infrastructure partnerships include AWS, Google Cloud, and Nvidia.
Regulatory Positioning
McAstra Capital LTD is a fintech company, not a chartered bank. Financial services are provided under contractual agreements and registered licenses. The primary disclosed compliance registration is FINTRAC in Canada (M20573902). The company's multi-jurisdictional structure — UAE headquarters, Cyprus EU-regulated entity, and Cayman Islands holding company — is designed to provide regulatory coverage across major markets.
Where AstraBanq Fits in the Solana Ecosystem
Most Solana-native DeFi infrastructure focuses on the on-chain side — DEXs, liquid staking, lending protocols — while leaving the fiat-to-chain bridge as a point of friction. AstraBanq addresses that gap from the banking side: it provides the IBAN, the payment rail, and the debit card layer that allows Solana ecosystem participants to operate with full fiat utility without exiting to a separate neobanking product. The integration of AstraPay into business accounts further extends this into merchant and B2B crypto settlement. For the Solana ecosystem broadly, AstraBanq represents a regulated banking interface built to coexist with on-chain infrastructure rather than compete with it.
