Alfred Pay

Alfred Pay — branded as "alfred" — is a B2B cross-border payments infrastructure company positioning itself as the API layer between stablecoins and Latin America's local banking rails. Founded in the early 2020s and headquartered in Miami with operations across Latin America, the company targets fintechs, crypto platforms, and enterprise trade and logistics businesses that need to move money into and out of the region without the complexity of local legal entity setup or bespoke banking integrations.

The core value proposition is straightforward: a single REST API that gives businesses access to local payment networks — Brazil's PIX, Mexico's SPEI, Colombia's NEQUI and PSE, and Argentina's COELSA — alongside real-time stablecoin settlement. Rather than building integrations with each domestic banking system independently, alfred clients connect once and gain access to the full LatAm network. The company describes its model as "Stripe for Latin America," signalling its developer-first, infrastructure-as-a-service positioning.

How It Works

Alfred operates on a stablecoin intermediary model. When a business wants to pay a LatAm supplier or settle in local currency, it sends USDC (or in some configurations, USDT) to alfred's settlement infrastructure. Alfred converts those assets to the target local currency and delivers them through the appropriate domestic rail — in three to five minutes after on-chain confirmation. The reverse flow works the same way: fiat deposited into an alfred virtual account converts to stablecoin and lands in the client's registered blockchain wallet.

The platform supports both custodial and non-custodial settlement approaches. In the custodial model, alfred's Alfred Payment Manager (APM) manages rotating blockchain addresses across Solana, Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, Tron, and Stellar. Clients send to alfred-managed wallets, and the infrastructure detects and processes the transfer automatically. In the non-custodial path, clients retain full control of their own wallets; they include their origin address in each transaction request so alfred can verify the source and match it to the outbound fiat instruction.

Solana is one of the supported settlement chains. USDC on Solana is accepted and delivered, making alfred a practical on/off-ramp for Solana ecosystem participants — wallets, exchanges, and DeFi protocols — that need real LatAm payment coverage. Alfred's integration with the Circle Payments Network (CPN), announced in December 2024, formalises this relationship: alfred joined CPN as a Beneficiary Financial Institution, enabling seamless USDC-to-fiat delivery via PIX in Brazil and SPEI in Mexico through Circle's infrastructure.

Products and Features

Virtual local accounts are the entry point for most alfred integrations. Businesses receive bank account details in Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, and the United States without establishing a local legal entity. Two models exist: named accounts, registered in the client's legal name for enterprise compliance requirements, and non-named accounts, held by alfred's local regulated entity but with unique customer identifiers — faster to provision, suitable for non-resident operators. Accounts are deposit-only; incoming funds are automatically reconciled and processed.

Liquidation addresses let clients configure a permanent rule: any fiat deposited into their alfred virtual account automatically converts to USDC or USDT and transfers to a registered blockchain wallet. This is particularly useful for remittance providers and global exchanges collecting local currency at volume.

On-ramp and off-ramp APIs handle the transaction lifecycle. On-ramp converts fiat to stablecoin; off-ramp converts stablecoin to fiat and delivers it to a registered bank account. Both flows support customer-level compliance through built-in KYC/KYB endpoints — identity verification, document upload, and status tracking are all handled within the alfred API rather than requiring a separate compliance vendor.

Quote management provides real-time FX pricing before execution. Quotes expire quickly and must be refreshed before committing to a transaction, ensuring clients always transact at current market rates.

Supported Assets and Networks

The primary stablecoin across all alfred flows is USDC. USDT is also accepted in off-ramp configurations, primarily on Ethereum and Tron. On the blockchain side, alfred's settlement infrastructure spans Solana, Ethereum, Polygon, Stellar, Tron, Base, and Arbitrum. On the fiat side, supported currencies and rails include MXN via SPEI, BRL via PIX, COP via NEQUI and PSE, ARS via COELSA, USD via ACH and wire, and HKD/CNY via bank transfer.

Security and Compliance

Alfred is a fintech API business rather than a decentralised smart-contract protocol, so the relevant security posture is regulatory and operational rather than on-chain audit-based. The company holds a Transmisor de Dinero licence in Mexico and VASP registrations in its operating jurisdictions across Latin America. KYC and KYB requirements vary by country and are enforced through the onboarding API before any transaction can be initiated. Compliance infrastructure is built into the platform, with alfred handling identity verification centrally rather than delegating it to clients.

Team and Funding

Alfred's founding team includes Diego Yánez as Chief Executive Officer and Matías Plano as Chief Technology Officer. Luis Miller leads partnerships and Diego Miller leads product. The company's blog and conference presence suggest a team of roughly 35 people as of early 2026.

In January 2026, alfred closed a USD 15 million Series A round led by F-Prime Capital, with participation from Brevan Howard and White Star Capital. The round coincided with the announcement that the platform had processed nearly four million transactions for more than 2.5 million users — a scale metric that underpins the company's LatAm infrastructure positioning.

Strategic partnerships reinforce that positioning. Alfred is integrated into the Fireblocks Network as a payments provider, making it accessible to institutional clients using Fireblocks custody infrastructure. The Western Union partnership, announced in February 2026, extends alfred's reach into traditional remittance corridors. A July 2026 partnership with Bitget Wallet brings alfred's on/off-ramp infrastructure to Bitget's users across Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, and Colombia — connecting the company to a large retail stablecoin user base across the region.

Fit Within the Solana Ecosystem

Alfred is not a native Solana protocol — it does not deploy smart contracts on Solana or participate in Solana's on-chain DeFi economy directly. Its connection to Solana is as a settlement rail: the platform accepts and delivers USDC on Solana, making it useful for any Solana project that needs real-world payment coverage in Latin America. For Solana wallets, exchanges, or stablecoin issuers targeting LatAm users, alfred provides the last-mile fiat infrastructure that on-chain rails cannot reach alone. As stablecoin adoption in Latin America accelerates — driven by currency volatility, inflation, and underbanked populations — infrastructure like alfred's occupies an increasingly critical position between crypto and the traditional financial systems that most people still use every day.
