Sanctum CLOUD$0.072-3.7% released Sanctum App 2.0 on 1 October 2026, a ground-up rebuild of its mobile app for earning rewards on SOL. According to the company, the update puts user funds behind a Squads multisig, and it adds per-second reward tracking and token fundamentals such as revenue, treasury and supply. The release announcement on X, posted at 07:20 UTC, said the new version is available on the iOS App Store, Google Play Store and the Seeker App Store, the dApp store on Solana Mobile's Seeker phone. The launch was timed to SANC Nine, Sanctum's community event in Seoul during Korea Blockchain Week.

What Sanctum App 2.0 adds for SOL holders

Sanctum App 2.0 (version 2.0.0) is a full rebuild, according to the App Store release notes, which open with "We rebuilt Sanctum from the ground up." The notes list five changes:

  • Funds are now protected by Squads Multisig.
  • Rewards accrue visibly in real time, "starting with SOL".
  • A portfolio view shows what a user put in and how each asset has performed over time.
  • Each token gets a fundamentals page covering revenue, treasury, costs and supply.
  • Price charts are simplified and cover every timeframe.

The App Store listing, published by Socean Labs Inc under the name Sanctum Mobile, advertises SOL rewards of "up to 6% APY" with no lockups and instant withdrawals. The 6% figure is an upper bound, and it is lower than the "up to 10%" Sanctum's December 2025 launch post quoted when the app first opened a waitlist. Staking rewards move with network conditions.

The fundamentals page is the bigger change in direction. The same December 2025 post said Sanctum wanted to build for "the 99.999% of the world who aren't involved in degen crypto." The 1.x versions courted that audience with gamified features: updates 1.1 to 1.3 added home decoration, a furniture catalog and "Furni Packs" for USDC holders. The 2.0 release notes make no mention of furniture and lead with revenue, treasury and price data instead, which reads closer to a brokerage app than a game.

How Squads Multisig fits Sanctum's custody model

Squads builds multisig software for Solana. A multisig is a shared on-chain vault that only moves funds when a set number of approved signers sign off. Sanctum's release notes describe Squads Multisig as "the same technology securing $10B+ in value"; Squads' own multisig product page now puts the figure at "over $15 billion" across more than 450 teams. On a Squads multisig, one approval threshold applies to every transaction, and the vault's owners decide who can create, approve and execute them.

The release notes do not say who holds the multisig's keys, how many signers it has or what approval threshold it uses. That matters because the same App Store listing still describes the app as "non-custodial", and a multisig vault can be either, depending on who the signers are. Until Sanctum publishes the configuration, the signer set behind app funds remains undisclosed.

The Squads layer sits on top of protections Sanctum already runs at the protocol level. A Sanctum post from 30 September explains that the SOL behind its liquid staking tokens (LSTs, tokens that represent staked SOL and can be traded while it keeps earning) is controlled by a program-derived address, an account with no private key that only the stake pool program can sign for. Pool managers, Sanctum included, can pick validators but cannot withdraw depositors' principal. Upgrades to that program need majority approval from an 11-member multisig with members from Jupiter, Jito, Sanctum and others, according to the same post.

Sanctum's main liquid staking program processed 40,725 transactions and about $16.1 million in spot swap volume between 1 and 30 September 2026, according to Solana Compass program analytics. Those figures measure the protocol as a whole and do not isolate activity from the app.

SANC Nine in Seoul and the road from June's early-access app

Sanctum teased the release a day earlier, writing on 30 September that its "biggest update yet" would launch "tomorrow, Thursday 1 October, at SANC Nine in Seoul." The SANC Nine event page lists Sanctum and Superteam Korea as co-hosts at a venue in Seoul's Gangnam District, with a "Sanctum App Live Showcase" at 4:10 PM local time. Sanctum billed the afternoon as a celebration of reaching "#1 TVL on Solana", a position we covered when DeFiLlama data showed it in August. The event shares its name with SANC, the new ticker for Sanctum's CLOUD governance token, announced alongside a 259 million CLOUD burn that holders approved in a governance vote on 19 September.

The app is less than four months old on Apple's store. Version 1.0 reached the App Store on 9 June 2026 as a waitlist release, followed by a second early-access wave later that month. Sanctum shipped six more 1.x releases through 11 August, when version 1.4.0 added referrals and usernames, then went seven weeks without an App Store update before the rebuild.

Existing users get 2.0 as an update to the same app. New users can download it from the App Store, Google Play or the Seeker App Store, all linked from Sanctum's app page.
