Solana Says It Led All Chains in Stablecoin Transfers in September With 557M, Edging BNB Chain by 2.6%
Solana says it led all chains with 557M stablecoin transfers in September, up 33%, just 2.6% ahead of BNB Chain. The count says nothing about dollars moved.
Solana says it was the top blockchain for stablecoin transfers in September 2026, with 557 million transfers, up 33% from August. The claim came from the network's official X account on 18 October 2026, and figures shared alongside it put the runner-up, BNB Chain, only about 2.6% behind. The figure counts how often stablecoins moved and says nothing about how many dollars they carried, and the method behind it has not been published.
Solana's 557M stablecoin transfers: what the official post says
The official Solana post, published at 04:15 UTC on 18 October, reads: "Solana is #1 for stablecoin transfers. 557M in September, up 33% from August. 18.6M transfers a day." The daily figure checks out: 557 million over September's 30 days is about 18.6 million, or roughly 215 transfers a second. Working back from the 33% growth rate puts August at about 419 million, by our arithmetic.
The post's text names no data provider. Relays including PANews say Solana cited Blockworks data, but we could not locate the underlying Blockworks dataset, so the 557 million figure stands here as Solana's own claim.
Solana vs BNB Chain: a 14 million transfer lead
Solana's post gives no figure for any other network. The comparison comes from an earlier post by the X account @minnus, published at 01:16 UTC on 18 October and answered by the official Solana account. It put BNB Chain at 543 million September transfers and called the month "a record" that put Solana "back at #1".
On those numbers, Solana's lead over BNB Chain is about 14 million transfers, or roughly 2.6%. "Back at #1" implies BNB Chain held the top spot at some earlier point, and at a margin this thin the ordering depends on exactly how each network's transfers are counted. Neither post says whether the count is raw or filtered, which stablecoins it includes, or how it treats a wallet sending to itself.
Stablecoin transfer count vs dollar value on Solana
A transfer count and a dollar total answer different questions, and a recent change at Visa shows how far apart they can sit. CryptoSlate reported that on 18 September 2026, Visa Onchain Analytics expanded the set of addresses it labels from about 15 million to roughly 600 million. Visa's adjusted transaction count fell by less than 2%.
The same refresh named one automated program on Solana that cycled the same stablecoins through thousands of throwaway wallets. According to CryptoSlate, Visa said that pattern moved very large amounts in relatively few transactions and is now excluded from its adjusted volume. In that case the filtering hit the dollar series far harder than the count. We covered Visa's adjusted-volume approach when it reported a record $1.79 trillion for June. Solana's September post gives no dollar figure to set beside its 557 million transfers.
USDC and USDT on Solana: the September backdrop
Solana's other September figures point the same way as the transfer count. The network's payments roundup for September says stablecoin supply on Solana hit a record $17.3 billion on 25 September, which we reported at the time, and that daily stablecoin active addresses averaged 888,000 during the month, up 269% from a year earlier.
Our own data shows a slower climb in who holds the coins. Token accounts holding USDC on Solana rose from about 8.7 million at the end of August to about 9.4 million at the end of September, according to Solana Compass holder data. That series leaves out USDT and other stablecoins, and one person can hold several accounts, but it rose far less than the transfer count Solana reported for the same month.
Token accounts holding USDC on Solana rose from about 8.7 million at the end of August to about 9.4 million at the end of September, a far gentler rise than the 33% jump in transfers Solana reported.
