Solana Mobile is now using revenue from its Seeker phone ecosystem to buy SKR on the open market and burn it every day. Solana Mobile said on 3 November 2026 that the program has burned over 1.1M SKR since the first purchase on 15 October, funded by its own validator and by fees from the Seed Vault Wallet on Seeker phones.
SKR is the token Solana Mobile launched for Seeker owners. Holders stake it with Guardians, the operators that verify devices and review dApps, and Solana Mobile has handed out SKR through airdrops and campaigns such as the Seeker Summer claim rounds. The buy and burn runs the other way, turning ecosystem revenue into SKR purchases that are destroyed, and the official announcement describes it as a purchase and burn "each day".
How the SKR buy and burn is funded: validator commissions and Seed Vault Wallet fees
The SKR buy and burn draws on two revenue streams, according to Solana Mobile: the commissions its validator earns from staking, and fees from activity in the Seed Vault Wallet, such as swaps and the USDC Earn Vault. The first monthly order was funded with $24,573 USDC, and the first daily buy on 15 October bought and burned 60,885 SKR, Solana Mobile said.
The SKR dashboard sets out how each month's budget is built: "Each month's burns come from the prior month's wallet revenue, plus a share of earlier wallet revenue spread over 12 months." In practice, the budget is a monthly sum split into daily market purchases, so a busier month in the wallet shows up as larger burns in the month after. Solana Mobile's SKR staking guide describes the funding as "a portion" of validator and wallet revenue.
The validator is the Solana Mobile Validator, the vote account Solana Mobile links in its announcement. Solana Compass validator data shows it held about 773,000 SOL of delegated stake in epoch 1076 on 3 November 2026, spread across roughly 160,800 stake accounts. That is an average of under 5 SOL per account (our arithmetic), a profile of many small delegations.
How 1.1M burned SKR compares with SKR's 1 billion first-year issuance
SKR launched with an initial supply of 10 billion tokens and first-year inflation of 10%, or 1 billion SKR, according to Solana Mobile's dashboard. The inflation rate falls by 25% a year until it reaches a terminal 2% a year, and the staking guide says stakers receive their share of that inflation as rewards every 48 hours. The same dashboard showed 4.93 billion SKR staked when we checked it on 3 November.
Set against that schedule, the opening burn rate is small. Over 1.1M SKR across the 20 days from 15 October to 3 November works out to roughly 55,000 SKR a day. A billion SKR issued evenly over a year is about 2.7 million a day, so at its opening pace the program removes around 2% of first-year issuance (our arithmetic, assuming even emission). The size of the burn is tied to wallet and validator revenue, so it moves with how much Seeker owners use the phone's built-in services.
Revenue-funded buybacks are familiar on Solana, Raydium's RAY buyback among them, but those usually draw on a trading venue's fees. Solana Mobile's draws on a phone: SOL staked with its validator and swaps made in the Seeker's built-in wallet.
Seeker activity behind the SKR burn: 121,000 activated phones
Solana Mobile ties the program to the size of the Seeker base, which it puts at more than 121,000 activated Seekers, citing Blockworks data, with 793 builders shipping apps to the Solana dApp Store. The hardware footprint is also widening: on 15 October, Solana Mobile named Ledger its first hardware expansion partner, with the Seeker app preinstalled on the Ledger Atom.
Where to verify SKR burns onchain
Early reports of the running total differ slightly. SolanaFloor reported the same 15 October start and the same two funding sources but gave a total of 1.2M SKR, while Solana Mobile's own figure is "over 1.1M SKR" as of 3 November. Every buy and burn runs through a single address, AFuZE1beQGWVBHMHUPJf2BSmhj7W5fotjGWeKpi8W3Sf, and Solana Mobile says all transactions are publicly verifiable there and on the buy and burn section of its SKR dashboard. The figures worth following from here are the size of each new monthly order, which shows how the budget tracks wallet revenue, and whether daily burn amounts rise as Seeker activation and wallet usage grow.
