A Doosan Robotics industrial arm connects through a glowing peaqOS gateway dome to a Solana network sphere, with a brass nameplate bearing Bosch, Deutsche Telekom, and Airbus logos, a PEAQ token coin, and small IoT rovers on an old-world navigator's desk.

peaq's machine economy operating system went live on Solana on September 16, confirmed by the official documentation and announced the following day. Any robot or IoT device can now activate directly on Solana, bond PEAQ, and run the full peaqOS stack, gaining a verified on-chain identity, access to machine service markets, and a credit rating that can support financing.

Solana's official account retweeted the announcement. peaqOS had previously run only on the peaq chain; the Solana expansion extends that capability to both peaq mainnet and Solana mainnet-beta running as production-ready environments simultaneously.

Three-Phase Machine Onboarding on Solana

Machine activation in peaqOS follows three sequential phases split across two wallets and two chains. First, a peaq operator wallet reserves the machine ID and pays the activation bond on the peaq chain. A mirror sync then propagates that reservation to Solana. Finally, a Solana owner wallet creates the machine account on-chain, paying transaction fees and rent.

The CLI handles each phase with --chain solana --phase parameters, with one invocation per phase. A Python SDK exposes the full sequence programmatically. A JavaScript SDK supports management and event submission; onboarding writes currently require the CLI or Python SDK, with full JS onboarding described as a preview.

What Lives on Solana vs. What Stays on peaq

The architecture deliberately splits machine state between chains. A machine's peaqID document and its Machine NFT are Solana accounts, owned by a Solana key. The subscription bond and the peaq chain registry entry stay on peaq.

This gives machines a native Solana presence: their identity and ownership records sit where Solana's composability and liquidity are accessible, while peaq manages the bonding ledger it was built around. Events from Solana-homed machines route through Solana's EventRegistry rather than peaq's own system, keeping the event record native to the machine's home chain.

Machine IDs are derived from the machine type and credential subject, represented as a large unsigned integer in decimal format.

Machine Credit Ratings for Solana Devices

Machines that activate on Solana are served by the Machine Credit Rating (MCR) API at mcr-20.peaq.xyz. Querying /mcr/did:peaq:<machine ID> returns a machine's credit profile, flagged with home_chain: 5 for Solana-homed devices. Freshly activated machines receive a no_events_yet status; ratings build as they accumulate verified on-chain activity.

Credit ratings are central to the financing angle peaq announced alongside the launch. A machine with an established rating can be financed against its on-chain history and can access service markets based on its verified track record, which peaq describes as turning machines into trusted financial assets.

PEAQ Bonding and the Economics 2.0 Model

Every machine that activates through peaqOS bonds PEAQ for its active lifetime, removing that supply from circulation for the duration of operation. The Economics 2.0 model, which went live on peaq mainnet before the Solana expansion, distributes newly issued PEAQ and transaction fees across four channels: staking for Trust Validators (30%), a Machine Pool (30%), a Treasury (20%), and an Activation Token Provision Pool (20%), according to SolanaFloor's September 8 reporting on the Sunrise integration.

The Sunrise launch, which first brought PEAQ to Solana, put roughly 3.3 million machines on the path to activation. Over 240,000 had activated by early September, per SolanaFloor.

Activation, Financing, and Monetization Available to Any Machine on Solana

The Solana expansion makes three capabilities available to any machine on the network: activation and decentralized identity, machine financing, and monetization of spare capacity. Prior to this launch, machines seeking those features needed to run on the peaq chain directly.

Doosan Robotics, Korea's leading collaborative robotics maker, had already deployed its first A-Series cobot on peaqOS on Solana by September 17, an early illustration of the model in practice.

peaq's existing network spans more than 6 million machines, robots, and humans across 60-plus applications, with over 48 million transactions executed by machines, according to peaq.xyz. Partners include Deutsche Telekom, Lufthansa, Bosch, Mastercard, Airbus, and Continental.
