Sui Price at Risk as Ecosystem Activity Contracts
SUI is down 44% year-to-date, making it the second-worst performer in the top 30 by market cap, and on-chain data suggests the weakness is structural rather than cyclical. DEX volume on the network has collapsed from roughly $2 billion at its January 2026 peak to around $250 million, weekly protocol fees have fallen below $1 million, and the relative strength index has broken below its signal line — a pattern that mirrors neither Ethereum nor Solana, both of which have cleared their 200-day exponential moving averages while SUI continues to trade beneath its own. Analysts flag $0.75 as the current support level, with $0.66 as the next downside target if that level fails — a roughly 12% decline from recent prices.
Beyond the charts, confidence has also been dented by a 3.5-hour network outage in May 2026, and critics point to only 128 active validators as a persistent decentralization concern. The deeper issue cited is a lack of developer momentum: dApp interaction remains thin and real-world use cases have been slow to materialize, limiting Sui's ability to convert its technical speed advantage — the network does outpace Ethereum and Solana on transaction throughput — into sustained ecosystem demand.

SUI Group Expands Bluefin Lending Deal to 6M SUI, Raises Revenue Share to 11%
NASDAQ-listed SUI Group Holdings (SUIG) has expanded its strategic lending partnership with Bluefin, a decentralized exchange on the Sui blockchain, adding 4 million SUI tokens to bring the total loan to 6 million SUI. The deal, originally struck in September 2025 for 2 million tokens, now runs through September 2028, and SUI Group's revenue share has been raised from 5% to 11%, paid in SUI tokens, with returns expected to exceed native staking rates.
The additional capital is earmarked to help fund Bluefin's participation in financing Bluewater's acquisition of Suilend, the largest lending and DeFi platform on Sui. SUI Group Chairman Marius Barnett framed the expansion as "a continuation of our strategy to put capital to work directly in the highest-quality protocols building on Sui," while Bluefin co-founder Zabi Mohebzada said the deal reflects the strengthening relationship between both companies. SUI Group describes itself as the only publicly traded company with an official relationship with the Sui Foundation.

Cumberland, SwissBorg, and Fluid Back Sui's Hashi as Bitcoin DeFi Testnet Nears
Three institutional players — market maker Cumberland, wealth platform SwissBorg, and lending protocol Fluid — have joined Hashi, a Sui-based framework for Bitcoin-backed financial products. Cumberland is focused on liquidity provisioning, SwissBorg intends to connect high-net-worth clients with Bitcoin-backed lending and borrowing products, and Fluid is building institutional-grade lending markets for Bitcoin-backed credit. The trio joins an existing coalition that includes BitGo, Blockdaemon, Ledger, Bullish, FalconX, AlphaLend, and Cobo.
Hashi's approach keeps BTC on its native blockchain rather than relying on wrapped or synthetic representations, using an on-chain framework on Sui to unlock collateral value through smart contracts. A global testnet is scheduled for July 2026, giving institutions and developers the opportunity to test integration parameters and validate infrastructure before mainnet deployment.
