What Vezgo Is and the Problem It Solves

Vezgo is a B2B crypto data API that aggregates digital asset information from dozens of exchanges, blockchains, and wallets into a single normalized feed. Its core pitch is simple: instead of a fintech or developer team spending months building and maintaining individual connections to Coinbase, Binance, Kraken, Ledger, Phantom, and hundreds of other providers, they make one integration and get data from all of them in a consistent format.

The fragmentation problem is real. A portfolio tracker or crypto tax application that wants to cover its users' full holdings has to contend with wildly different API designs, authentication models, data schemas, and reliability standards across every exchange and blockchain they want to support. Vezgo abstracts that away, positioning itself as the "Plaid of Crypto" — borrowing the model that Plaid popularized for bank account aggregation and applying it to the decentralized asset landscape.

The company was founded in 2021 as a spin-out from Wealthica, a Canadian investment aggregation platform established in 2015. Wealthica built one of Canada's leading financial data aggregation products and developed deep expertise in normalizing heterogeneous data from financial institutions. Vezgo extends that capability into cryptocurrency and Web3.

How It Works

Vezgo operates as a middleware layer between a developer's application and the underlying exchanges, wallets, and blockchains. Developers integrate once using Vezgo's REST API or the official JavaScript/Node.js SDK (open-sourced at wealthica/vezgo-sdk-js on GitHub). From that single integration point, they can request standardized data objects covering:

  • Balances and positions — native asset quantities and fiat-denominated values from connected accounts
  • Transaction history — normalized records with quantity, fiat value at time of transaction, recipient addresses, and metadata
  • Token holdings — fungible token balances across supported blockchains
  • NFT data — metadata and transaction history for non-fungible tokens
  • DeFi and staking positions — where supported, protocol-level position data

The platform enforces consistent data formatting across every connector, so a balance record from a Coinbase account looks structurally identical to a balance record from a Solana wallet or a Kraken API key. This reduces the conditional logic and data transformation work that typically dominates crypto data integration projects.

A key delivery mechanism is the Connect Flow Widget — a drop-in UI component that handles the user-facing OAuth and credential collection flows for exchanges, letting developers embed a working account-connection interface without building their own.

Solana Support

Vezgo added Solana to its supported blockchains in July 2022. Through the Solana integration, developers can retrieve SOL balances, SPL token holdings, and transaction history from Solana wallets. The integration covers Solana positions held directly in self-custody wallets as well as SOL held across the 60+ exchanges and custodial wallets in Vezgo's network that support Solana trading. This makes Vezgo useful for applications that need a complete picture of a user's Solana exposure without requiring the user to connect every individual account separately.

For Solana-native developers building portfolio tools, compliance products, or lending platforms that need to aggregate a user's SOL and SPL token positions alongside their centralized exchange holdings, Vezgo provides a ready-made data layer rather than requiring custom RPC integration work for each wallet and exchange combination.

Coverage and Scale

As of current disclosures on the Vezgo website, the platform aggregates from:

  • 40+ centralized exchanges including Coinbase, Binance, Binance US, Kraken, Gemini, Bybit, eToro, and Crypto.com
  • 30+ blockchains including Solana, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Cardano
  • 500+ wallets including hardware and software wallet integrations
  • 20 billion USD in aggregated digital assets across its network

The platform also integrates WalletConnect, allowing users to connect any WalletConnect-compatible wallet (including Trust Wallet) through the standard WalletConnect flow, which dramatically expands the addressable self-custody wallet universe.

Use Cases

Vezgo is positioned as infrastructure for a wide range of fintech products:

Portfolio tracking is the most direct use case. Wealthica, the parent company's consumer product, uses Vezgo's data layer to give Canadian retail investors a unified view of their crypto holdings across all their accounts.

Crypto tax software is a major target vertical. Providers like Awaken and MoneyViz use the API to pull comprehensive transaction histories that can be fed into capital gains calculations and IRS-compliant reporting flows.

Accounting and audit applications use Vezgo to normalize business transaction data for general ledger entry and digital asset auditing workflows. Softledger is among the accounting software providers that have integrated Vezgo.

Treasury management for businesses and family offices holding crypto across multiple venues — Nuant and Multis are cited as clients in this category.

Compliance and regulatory reporting is an emerging use case as frameworks like OECD CARF (Crypto Asset Reporting Framework) and EU DAC8 require exchanges and financial intermediaries to collect and report user transaction data. Vezgo's normalized transaction records are designed to feed directly into these reporting pipelines.

Other documented use cases include crypto-backed lending (tracking collateral across wallets to calculate loan-to-value ratios), credit scoring (using on-chain transaction history as a creditworthiness signal), crypto insurance underwriting, Web3 gaming (retrieving NFT inventories across chains), and social investing platforms that need to verify portfolios without exposing user credentials.

Team and Company Structure

Vezgo is led by a team that includes Eric Lemieux (Co-Founder and Chairman/CEO), Elie Geha (CEO), Oleg Vysotsky (CTO), Billy Kawasaki (COO), and Jean-Philippe Rivard Lauzier (CIO). The company maintains offices in West Palm Beach (Florida), Toronto (Canada), and Abu Dhabi (UAE), reflecting both its Canadian roots and its ambitions in the Middle Eastern institutional market.

Security and Compliance

Vezgo, in partnership with Wealthica, holds SOC 2 Type 2 certification. This means the platform has undergone third-party audits of its security controls, availability, and data handling practices — a meaningful credential for B2B fintech infrastructure that touches user account credentials and financial data. The company also maintains GDPR compliance infrastructure, including a Data Processing Agreement and documented sub-processor list, relevant for European clients.

Developer Tooling

Beyond the core REST API, Vezgo provides a Node.js SDK published under the wealthica GitHub organization. The SDK handles authentication, pagination, and response normalization. A dedicated status page tracks connector health across supported integrations. Documentation covers both REST endpoints and SDK usage, and the Connect Flow Widget ships as an embeddable component that handles the credential and OAuth collection UX.

The platform is designed to reduce integration lead times by up to 80% compared to building direct connections to each provider, according to Vezgo's own benchmarks — with the company's stated goal of enabling a working integration "in an afternoon."
