Pontem Network

Pontem Network is a blockchain product development studio building foundational infrastructure, applications, and developer tooling for the Move virtual machine ecosystem. Founded in 2021 — with roots reaching back to 2020 work on Meta's Diem blockchain — Pontem has established itself as one of the leading builders for the Move programming language, with Aptos as its primary deployment network and an expanding multichain presence through its Lumio L2 framework.

Core Products

Liquidswap DEX

Liquidswap is Pontem's automated market maker and the leading decentralized exchange in the Move ecosystem. Deployed on Aptos, it supports token swaps, liquidity provision, yield farming, staking, and token launches. As of early 2024, Liquidswap reported approximately 40,000 weekly active users and up to $1 million in daily trading volume. The protocol has undergone three independent security audits from OtterSec, Zellic, and Halborn, and received formal verification from MoveBit. In July 2024, Liquidswap launched its governance token, $LSD, which trades on KuCoin and powers a community DAO. Liquidswap is also expanding its deployment footprint beyond Aptos to Ethereum L2s such as Movement and Lumio, and to other L1s including Solana and TON.

Pontem Wallet

The Pontem Wallet is a self-custodial, multichain wallet available as a Chrome extension and on iOS and Android. It supports assets across Ethereum, Solana, Move-based networks (Aptos, Sui), and others, giving users a unified interface for trading, holding, sending, and staking. In May 2025, Pontem significantly expanded its wallet footprint by acquiring Martian Wallet — a self-custodial wallet with over 2 million installs across the Aptos and Sui ecosystems — to create a more integrated offering across the Move stack.

Lumio L2

Lumio is Pontem's Layer 2 project and its most architecturally ambitious product. Described as the first VM abstraction framework, Lumio lets developers build with any virtual machine — Move VM, EVM, or the Solana Virtual Machine — and settle transactions on any Layer 1, including Ethereum, Solana, and others. The Lumio Canary Mainnet operates as an optimistic rollup on the OP Stack, joining Optimism's Superchain alongside Base and opBNB. It has processed over 43,000 daily transactions with average fees of approximately $0.00007. Multiple Lumio instances are live or in active testing: an Ethereum Mainnet canary, a Move VM Testnet, and a Solana Devnet deployment.

Developer Tools

Pontem maintains an open-source suite of Move development tools:

• ByteBabel — a Solidity-to-Move bytecode translator, enabling Ethereum developers to port contracts to the Move VM
• IntelliJ Move IDE — a smart contract development plugin for JetBrains IDEs
• Move Code Playground — a browser-based editor for writing and testing Move packages
• Package Manager — software package installation tooling for Aptos interoperability
• Pontem AI — a crypto-focused GPT assistant

Technology and Architecture

Move is a Rust-influenced programming language originally developed for Meta's Diem (formerly Libra) blockchain. It treats digital assets as first-class resources with strict ownership semantics, making it structurally resistant to common smart contract vulnerabilities such as reentrancy attacks. Pontem's expertise in Move — developed since the Diem era — underpins all of its products.

Lumio's architecture decouples execution from settlement: any virtual machine can serve as the execution environment, and any supported L1 can serve as the settlement layer. This makes Lumio capable of composability across runtime environments that would otherwise be siloed, positioning it as infrastructure for cross-ecosystem interoperability rather than a single-chain protocol.

Tokens and Assets

The $LSD token is Liquidswap's DAO governance token, introduced in July 2024 and listed on KuCoin. It governs protocol decisions for the Liquidswap DEX. Pontem Network itself does not have a separate project-level token.

Security

The Liquidswap protocol has been audited by three independent security firms — OtterSec, Zellic, and Halborn — and formally verified by MoveBit. No public audit reports for Lumio or the Pontem Wallet were found at time of writing.

Funding and Investors

Pontem has raised approximately $10.5 million across two rounds. A $4.5 million seed in June 2021 was followed by a $6 million raise in January 2024, co-led by Faction and Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation from Pantera Capital, the Aptos Foundation, Wintermute, Altonomy, Shima Capital, and Kraken Ventures. Pontem is a formal development partner of Aptos Labs.

Relationship to Solana

Pontem's primary ecosystem is Aptos and the Move language, but the project has concrete touchpoints with Solana. Lumio supports the Solana Virtual Machine as an execution layer and has an active Solana Devnet deployment. Liquidswap is expanding to Solana as a deployment target. The Pontem Wallet natively supports SOL and Solana-based assets alongside Move-chain holdings, making it one of the few wallets spanning both ecosystems in a single interface.
