Matrica

Matrica is the community infrastructure layer for Web3 — a platform that lets project teams manage their holders, gate access, run quests, and govern on-chain across multiple blockchains from a single dashboard. Built by Matrica Labs, the platform describes itself as "The Community Layer of Web3," and in 2025 reported 1.7 million total users, 10 million site visits, and 130,000 monthly active users spread across more than 4,000 communities.

Origins

Matrica Labs was founded in 2021 by two software engineers who had worked together for a decade. Before building Matrica, the team launched Pixels — a generative art NFT collection of 4,019 algorithmically produced pieces inspired by mathematicians and computer scientists, minted on Solana. The collection doubled as a founding membership: holding two Pixels grants a community access to Matrica's full suite of community tools. After shipping Pixels, the founders turned to the tooling gap they had observed first-hand in Solana's NFT ecosystem and built Matrica as the post-mint infrastructure layer their own project needed.

The platform expanded from a focused Solana Discord bot into a full cross-chain community management suite. A beta launch attracted more than 100,000 users across 500 communities. By mid-decade the platform supported eight chains and had become one of the most widely used holder-verification systems in the Solana ecosystem, with auto-verification running across more than 1,500 Discord servers.

How It Works

Matrica operates on two sides of the same relationship: community managers configure verification rules and engagement experiences; members connect their wallets and receive the appropriate access, roles, and rewards automatically.

Token verification and gating. Communities define rules that determine what a member must hold to receive a Discord or Telegram role. Matrica supports a broad set of asset types: Solana SPL tokens, Solana NFT collections, ERC-20 tokens, BRC-20 tokens, Bitcoin Runes, and Bitcoin inscriptions. Rules can be combined with AND/OR logic, enabling configurations such as requiring at least one NFT from a specific collection OR a minimum token balance. Verification is continuous — if a member transfers away the qualifying asset, their role is automatically revoked. Staking-aware verification means members who lock NFTs in supported staking protocols retain their roles without needing to unstake.

Cross-chain identity. Users connect wallets from Solana, Ethereum, Bitcoin, Polygon, Eclipse, Base, Monad, and ApeChain under a single Matrica profile. Once verified on one server, auto-verification extends that status across all connected communities without re-linking wallets. Cross-chain linking also means a community can require holdings across any combination of those networks, and members satisfy the requirement with any qualifying wallet they have connected.

Questing. The questing module lets community managers build task-based engagement campaigns: follow accounts, share content, complete on-chain actions, attend events. Completed quests generate points or unlock rewards. This sits alongside token-gating as the second major engagement lever and gives teams a way to incentivize activity beyond passive holding.

DAO voting. Matrica provides on-chain proposal creation and snapshot-based voting, using NFT or token holdings as voting weight. Communities can create governance proposals and snapshot holder balances at a specified block height before the vote opens, preventing last-minute token transfers from influencing outcomes.

Sales and analytics bots. The platform aggregates NFT marketplace transactions from Magic Eden and pushes real-time sales notifications to Discord channels via configurable webhooks. Communities also receive holder analytics: snapshot exports, collection overviews, and portfolio tracking across the wallets linked on the platform.

Matrica Connect. For developers, Matrica provides an OAuth2-based single sign-on service called Matrica Connect that allows third-party applications to request wallet verification and user data from the Matrica user base. A public API exposes endpoints for user data, wallet information, NFT data, snapshots, and collection searches. This makes Matrica usable as a verified identity and authentication backend for external projects beyond the Discord and Telegram use case.

Events and ticketing. Community managers can create events, issue digital tickets, and use QR code scanning for on-site or gated access management — a feature set aimed at DAOs and NFT communities that run live or hybrid gatherings.

Verification Depth

Matrica's verification rules cover more asset types than most comparable tools. Beyond straightforward NFT collection checks, supported rule types include fungible token balances (SPL, ERC-20, BRC-20, Runes), NFT attribute filtering, Bitcoin inscriptions, validator stake requirements, royalty payment verification, and X (Twitter) username gating. The AND/OR logic system means a community can encode nuanced membership policies without manual moderation overhead.

Pricing and Access

Matrica offers tiered subscription plans for community managers, with higher tiers unlocking additional verification rules, analytics depth, and integrations. Enterprise plans and individual add-on services are also available. The platform is free for individual users connecting wallets and joining communities.

DM.fun

In October 2025, Matrica Labs expanded into social communications with the launch of DM.fun — a messaging and social platform positioned as a Telegram alternative designed specifically for Solana token communities. The core premise is that group chat membership is gated by on-chain token or NFT holdings, eliminating fake accounts and bots by tying identity to a verified wallet.

DM.fun integrates chat, trade, and meme creation into a single interface. Members can swap tokens directly within a chat room, with trade routing through Solana DEX protocols including Jupiter and Raydium. Community tools include whale role assignments for major holders and coordinated campaign mechanics.

At launch, DM.fun introduced a utility token, $FUN, with a total supply of one billion tokens. The public presale raised 8,100 SOL. Token allocation split across community rewards (30%), core contributors (20%), treasury (16%), public sale (15%), investor allocation (9%), initial liquidity (7.5%), and marketing (2.5%).

Ecosystem Position

Matrica fills a specific niche between the chain itself and the communities built on top of it. Discord and Telegram remain the dominant coordination channels for crypto projects, but neither platform has native blockchain awareness. Matrica provides that bridge: it reads on-chain state and translates it into platform roles, access rights, and rewards inside existing communication infrastructure.

The platform's cross-chain expansion reflects a broader bet that community management will remain multi-chain even as individual communities are often chain-native. A Solana NFT project whose holders also hold assets on Ethereum, for example, can use Matrica to verify holdings across both networks without asking members to re-verify on a separate tool.

With 4,000 communities and auto-verification running across more than 1,500 Discord servers, Matrica has built significant network effects on the user side. Once a wallet is linked, re-verification on new servers happens automatically — reducing friction for holders and making the platform stickier as the user base grows.
