About

Delphi Ventures

Delphi Ventures is the venture capital arm of the Delphi Digital ecosystem, a thesis-driven investment firm that has been deploying capital at the frontier of crypto and deep technology since 2019. Registered in Middletown, Delaware, and operating as an Exempt Reporting Adviser with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the firm provides discretionary investment advisory services exclusively to private investment vehicles rather than retail investors.

Relationship to Delphi Digital

Delphi Ventures sits within a broader group of affiliated but legally independent companies operating under the "Delphi Family" brand. Delphi Digital, the research arm, provides institutional-grade digital asset analysis to more than 30,000 investors and venture firms, producing in-depth reports, weekly yield strategies, and regular analyst-led briefings. Delphi Ventures draws on this proprietary research infrastructure for deal sourcing and evaluation, giving the fund an unusually deep analytical foundation relative to most crypto-native VC firms. The two entities are separately organized and independently operated — they share a brand and intellectual network, not a legal structure.

Investment Thesis

Delphi Ventures describes itself as high-conviction and thesis-driven, concentrating capital on forces it believes will render legacy economic and coordination models obsolete over the coming decade. The firm organizes its worldview around several converging forces: trustless systems that allow human coordination at scale without intermediaries, digital technology and artificial intelligence, atomic and molecular-level innovations in biology and hardware, and fundamental scientific breakthroughs across disciplines.

Crypto occupies a specific place in this framework. The firm views blockchain technology as simultaneously a computational innovation and a financial one — open-source infrastructure with native monetization baked in, enabling economic experimentation at a scale no previous technology permitted. Rather than chasing narrative rotations, Delphi Ventures seeks to hold high-conviction positions across multiple thematic threads simultaneously.

The firm primarily invests from its own internal capital rather than raising large external LP pools, positioning this as "skin in the game" alignment with founders. It does not market itself as open to outside investors.

Investment Process and Portfolio Scale

Delphi Ventures has made more than 175 investments across its history. It operates at the early stage, with a primary focus on Seed and Series A rounds, though it participates in later rounds for select opportunities. The firm has co-invested alongside a16z Crypto, Mechanism Capital, Hack VC, and Solana ecosystem figures including Anatoly Yakovenko.

A distinguishing feature of Delphi's deal flow infrastructure is an AI analyst system named "Bob," built on custom internal infrastructure, that evaluates inbound project submissions and accelerates founder introductions. The firm maintains a publicly viewable crypto portfolio on its website.

Solana Ecosystem Involvement

Delphi Ventures was an early investor in Solana itself, alongside other foundational DeFi protocols including Uniswap and dYdX. That positioning has continued through the current cycle. The firm's analysts designated 2026 the "year of Solana," pointing to the network's Alpenglow consensus upgrade (which targets finality in 100-150 milliseconds versus the prior ~12.8 seconds), the Firedancer validator client designed for massive throughput gains, and rising institutional engagement including Morgan Stanley's filings for spot Solana ETFs and Wyoming's state-issued stablecoin deployed on the network.

Recent Solana-ecosystem investments from the firm include:

  • DoubleZero (March 2025, $28M raise) — private fiber infrastructure reducing latency discrepancies between validators
  • MagicBlock (April 2025, $7.5M Seed) — gaming and real-time application infrastructure on Solana
  • Upexi (April 2025, $100M raise) — a Solana-focused portfolio and treasury management platform
  • 375ai (October 2025, $5M raise) — decentralized data network built on Solana

These investments reflect a consistent thesis: Delphi backs both the Solana protocol layer and the application and infrastructure layers that make its performance advantages economically meaningful.

Deep Tech and AI Portfolio

Beyond crypto, Delphi Ventures has extended into deep technology including AI infrastructure, robotics, and brain-computer interfaces. Its deep tech portfolio covers nearly 200 teams and includes companies such as Neuralink (brain-computer interfaces), Apptronik (robotics), Sophont (AI), Glot AI, and Ministudio AI. The firm uses dedicated investing roles for AI and neurotech verticals — Rawson Haverty leads AI investing, and August Sayn-Wittgenstein focuses on neurotech.

Other recent cross-sector investments include Inference Labs (AI infrastructure with zero-knowledge focus, June 2025), 0G Labs (AI infrastructure), and ORO AI (AI data services, April 2025).

Team

Delphi Ventures is led by:

  • Yan Liberman — Managing Partner
  • Tom Shaughnessy — Founding Partner
  • Piers Kicks — Founding Partner
  • Drew Henderson — Partner
  • Can Gurel — Associate

The legal and compliance function is handled by Sarah Brennan (General Counsel) and Tye Merlo (Chief Compliance Officer), consistent with the firm's SEC reporting obligations.

Regulatory and Transparency Notes

As an Exempt Reporting Adviser, Delphi Ventures manages private funds and is subject to limited SEC reporting obligations — it is not registered as a full investment adviser. The firm publishes an investment adviser disclosure page and maintains a public portfolio listing, providing more transparency than many crypto-native funds of comparable size.

Delphi Ventures does not issue its own token or protocol. Its exposure to on-chain assets comes through portfolio companies and direct token investments made as part of venture rounds.
