About

Borderless

Borderless.xyz is a global stablecoin orchestration and liquidity network that provides fintech companies and financial institutions with a single API to access a growing network of licensed payment providers across 100+ countries, removing the integration overhead and execution inefficiency that comes from managing multiple provider relationships in isolation.

The Problem: Provider Fragmentation Costs Hundreds of Basis Points

The stablecoin payments industry has a fragmentation problem that is not widely understood. While the choice of stablecoin (USDC vs. USDT) and the choice of blockchain network account for virtually no pricing difference—Borderless research published in early 2026 found that 91% of multi-provider stablecoin pairs price within 10 basis points of each other, and 97% of multi-chain pairs price within 5 basis points—the choice of payment provider moves pricing by hundreds of basis points across identical corridors. In some pairs, the gap reaches 703 basis points.

The root cause is structural: financial institutions typically access only one or two stablecoin providers at a time, leaving them unable to route to better pricing or fall back to a secondary provider during periods of stress. Borderless was built to solve this by aggregating providers into a single, intelligently routed network.

How the Platform Works

Borderless operates as a pure orchestration and data layer—it never touches or holds client funds. The platform connects stablecoin-enabled participating financial institutions (PFIs) into one multi-chain network, giving clients visibility into provider rates and reliability across the full network and routing each payment to the best available execution path.

The architecture runs across three layers:

Connectivity provides a single API and standardized schema covering the entire provider network. A client integrates once and gains access to all present and future providers without additional engineering work. Borderless targets a two-week time to go-live.

Operations is the internal control center: reconciliation, exception management, RFI case management, audit trails, and compliance tooling that runs across all connected providers simultaneously. This layer is designed to let operations teams scale transaction volume without a proportional increase in headcount.

Intelligence is the automated routing system. It continuously tracks provider reliability scores and execution benchmarks, using that data to optimize routing decisions in real time. The system improves with transaction volume as execution data accumulates across the network.

Network Scale and Supported Assets

As of mid-2026, Borderless connects clients to 15+ locally-licensed stablecoin providers operating across more than 100 countries and 63+ fiat currencies. Named providers on the network include Bitso, Bridge, Cobre, Infinia, Koywe, Trace Finance, Walapay, Yellowcard, River.app, and CrissCross, among others. The network spans both established markets and emerging market corridors, including significant coverage across Latin America and Africa.

Supported stablecoins include USDC, USDT, and RLUSD. Borderless supports multi-chain settlement across Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, Base, Tron, and XRPL. The platform's research demonstrates that USDC and USDT are functionally interchangeable in stablecoin foreign exchange, allowing clients to access whichever asset a given provider has the best liquidity for without pricing penalty.

Business Model

Borderless charges a flat platform fee with no FX markups and no per-transaction charges. Clients retain their direct relationships with individual providers; Borderless orchestrates operations and provides data aggregation rather than interposing itself as a counterparty. The company targets enterprise-grade compliance: SOC 2 Type II standards govern platform operations.

Key Partnerships and Integrations

In 2026, Borderless entered a pilot with Mastercard to test the Crypto Credential framework across its global network. The pilot evaluates shared identity checks and standardized compliance signals for cross-border stablecoin transactions, with network participants Infinia, Walapay, and Koywe participating in a single-audit compliance model. Mastercard does not process or settle funds in the pilot; Crypto Credential functions as a governance and verification layer.

Borderless also publishes quarterly benchmark reports covering provider performance across its network, giving clients and the broader market data on execution quality across corridors.

Team and Background

Borderless was founded by CEO Kevin Lehtiniitty and is headquartered in New York. The company emerged from stealth in October 2024 alongside a $3 million pre-seed round led by Amity Ventures, whose managing partner CJ Reim joined the board of directors. The round included angel participation from Michael Shaulov, co-founder of Fireblocks, and Anton Katz, founder of Talos. Borderless raised a total of $3.3 million at that stage.

Solana Ecosystem Fit

Borderless is a B2B infrastructure play rather than a consumer-facing application. Its relevance to the Solana ecosystem lies in its inclusion of Solana as a supported settlement chain for USDC, USDT, and RLUSD transactions, making Solana-native stablecoin liquidity accessible to fintech companies and payment providers building cross-border payment products. For Solana-based stablecoin companies and wallets that need to connect to local banking infrastructure across emerging markets, Borderless provides a pre-built provider network that avoids the cost of building and maintaining direct integrations with dozens of locally-licensed partners.
