About

RockawayX

RockawayX is a Prague-headquartered digital asset firm that integrates early-stage venture capital, blockchain infrastructure operations, on-chain liquidity provision, and vault curation under one organization—with the Solana ecosystem sitting at the center of its investment thesis and operational footprint.

Background and Founding

The firm traces its Solana roots to early 2018, when founder and CEO Viktor Fischer met Solana co-founders Anatoly Yakovenko and Raj Gokal at the 500 Startups incubator in San Francisco. Fischer—a computer science engineer and former McKinsey consultant who purchased his first bitcoin in 2015—began running Solana software from an apartment in Prague at a time when many industry observers argued the network required enterprise-grade data centers. RockawayX backed Solana Labs in its 2019 seed round, making it one of the blockchain's earliest institutional supporters.

The firm launched its first early-stage fund around 2020, opening with just $6.5 million in commitments before closing at approximately $120 million. That fund—designated VCI (2021)—delivered a 2.1x distributions-to-paid-in-capital (DPI) ratio and currently stands at a 5.4x multiple on invested capital (MOIC), with winners including Solana, Wintermute, and Morpho Labs.

In April 2025, RockawayX announced the close of its second venture fund at $125 million, slightly exceeding its original $120 million target. The Solana Foundation is a reported limited partner, and co-founders Yakovenko and Gokal are among the fund's investors alongside family offices and private equity firms.

Team and Operations

Viktor Fischer leads the firm as founder and CEO. Samantha Bohbot serves as partner and chief growth officer. The organization employs more than 45 people, roughly two-thirds of whom are engineers. Offices operate across Prague, London, and Dubai, with the Dubai outpost housing approximately ten regional team members following more than $3 million in local investment.

Business Divisions

RockawayX describes itself as "engineers first" and organizes its activities across four interconnected business lines.

Venture Investments

The firm targets early-stage blockchain projects with a particular concentration in the Solana ecosystem. Its second fund allocates between 50 and 75 percent of capital to Solana-based projects, with the remainder directed at infrastructure protocols and decentralized networks elsewhere. Fund II's allocation structure splits roughly two-thirds into seed investments with the rest held in liquid, yield-generating positions.

Portfolio companies backed by the second fund include DoubleZero, Exponent Finance, Hyperlend, Silhouette, Fragmetric, and OnRe. Earlier fund investments include Kamino Finance, Squads, Switchboard, Wintermute, and Morpho Labs. The firm tracks more than 100 projects and reports over $2 billion in total assets under management across all divisions, with five unicorns in its portfolio.

Infrastructure

RockawayX operates validators across more than 50 blockchain networks with over $1 billion in total stake. The firm owns and runs data centers in Europe rather than relying on cloud providers, with an aggregated computing capacity of 8,514 GHz. It also develops protocol-ready hardware solutions and positions itself as a launch partner for new networks that need early validator participation and hardware contributions.

Liquidity

The firm functions as an on-chain capital provider and market-maker across multiple ecosystems. It has assessed more than 200 protocols and actively partners with more than 50, reporting over $500 million in total value locked. Its credit fund holds approximately $110 million in assets under management and operates an on-chain credit pool targeting roughly 12 percent annualized yield. A dedicated solver and market-making division supports execution across decentralized exchanges and liquidity venues.

Vault Curation and Labs

RockawayX curates investment vaults on platforms including Morpho, in which it is also an investor. Vault partnerships include Tori Finance (a $50 million ecosystem vault), Huma Finance (USDC vault), OnRe (reinsurance yield products), and a PT Yield Vault on Lista DAO. The firm announced that its vault curation business surpassed $100 million in total value locked. It also launched mROX in partnership with Midas, which achieved $6 million in week-one TVL. A product called Zela (Remote Procedure Execution) has been introduced as part of the Labs division's infrastructure tooling.

Solana Ecosystem Position

RockawayX frames Solana as the platform best positioned to "dominate the future of tokenization-fueled onchain finance," citing its speed, low transaction costs, and developer accessibility. The firm has published a report titled "The SOL thesis for Wall Street" making the institutional case for the network.

Beyond capital deployment, RockawayX operates as an active participant in Solana's physical and community infrastructure. In May 2025, the firm co-launched "Solana City" in Dubai alongside the Solana Foundation and Helius Labs—a dedicated coworking and accelerator hub for Solana builders. The firm has also hosted more than 200 hacker houses as part of its ecosystem development activities.

CEO Viktor Fischer has articulated the firm's application-layer strategy directly: "Rather than investing in more L1s, we focused on building applications on Solana and being the first user for our founders." This approach—combining capital, engineering resources, liquidity support, and infrastructure operations—is what RockawayX presents as its differentiation from conventional crypto venture funds.
