MagicBlock is a real-time infrastructure layer for Solana that enables latency-critical applications to run at speeds the base layer alone cannot achieve, while remaining composable with the Solana ecosystem.
Solana blocks every 400ms is too slow for real-time multiplayer games, high-frequency order books, and AI agent workflows. MagicBlock solves this by extending Solana's execution environment — not by building a separate L2 chain.
The core product is the Ephemeral Rollup (ER): a temporary SVM-compatible execution environment that spins up on demand alongside Solana L1. Accounts are delegated from mainnet to the ephemeral validator, transactions execute at 10ms block times with gasless fees, and state commits back to Solana through optimistic settlement with fraud-proof challenges. Programs and assets never leave L1 — tokens stay natively on Solana with no wrapping or bridge risk. Performance: 30-50ms end-to-end latency, 10ms block times, auto-scaling to millions of TPS.
Developer tooling includes: BOLT (Entity Component System framework for onchain games), Magic Router (automatic per-transaction routing to ER or L1), Magic Actions (automated post-commit handlers), Session Keys (programmatic signing without wallet popups), VRF (provably fair randomness), Cranks (scheduled onchain execution), and Solana Plugins (modular extensions for oracles and cranks).
In September 2025 MagicBlock launched Private Ephemeral Rollups (PERs) using Intel TDX hardware TEEs for confidential computation — hidden game state, dark pools, and private AI inference — while maintaining sub-50ms speeds. A Private Payments API shipped to mainnet in March 2026.
MagicNet, the live network, launched June 2025. By early 2026: 1 billion+ transactions, 250K delegations, 27K addresses, 18 live apps. Supersize, a fully onchain PvP game, recorded 250K matches in July 2026. Flash Trade uses ERs for sub-50ms perpetuals execution. Integrations include Pyth Lazer, Jito, dTelecom, and XO.
Token BLOCK (10B supply) was announced February 2026: 35% community, 15% node operators, 20% investors, 18% team (3yr vest), 12% ecosystem. Node operators stake BLOCK for slashing guarantees; protocol fees accumulate for BLOCK buybacks. No third-party audit was surfaced at time of writing.
Founded September 2023 by Andrea Fortugno (CEO) and Gabriele Picco in Singapore. Raised 3M USD pre-seed (a16z CSX, September 2024) and 7.5M USD seed (Lightspeed Faction lead, April 2025).
