UsePaid paused X Money payouts on 27 September after a $1.54M fee day

UsePaid Pauses X Money Payouts, Moves Pump.fun Creator Fee Claims Onchain to
An old brass vault marked with the X logo sits locked while a glowing bridge labelled UsePaid carries coins across an antique map to a Solana-branded platform, beside a Pump.fun canister and a furnace under a PAID token.

UsePaid, the Solana app that sends Pump.fun creator fees to X accounts through X Money, has paused its X Money payouts and moved creators to a web claim portal that pays out onchain, in most cases in SOL. The pause, announced on 27 September 2026, came a day after UsePaid said fees claimed through the service had reached $1.54 million in 24 hours.

$1.54M in fees in 24 hours and a $750 daily payout cap

UsePaid's own posts set out the sequence. At 19:36 UTC on 26 September, the @UsePaid account reported $1.54 million in fees claimed over the previous 24 hours, "26x the day before, and more than the previous 7 days combined." In the same post UsePaid capped payouts at $750 per person per day, citing "ACH deposits not crediting over the weekend," and said it planned to restore normal payouts on Monday 28 September once those bank deposits arrived.

Normal payouts did not return. On 27 September at 19:05 UTC, UsePaid said X Money payments were "currently paused while we work through payment issues," that existing balances "remain safe" and that fees would keep accruing.

UsePaid has not said X or X Money took any action against it, and X Money has made no public statement about the pause. Protos reported that the suspension came from UsePaid itself.

How UsePaid routes Pump.fun creator fees to X accounts

UsePaid redirects the creator fees earned by tokens launched on Pump.fun to users on X, Protos said. Each token is tied to an X account, and that account is entitled to the fees. UsePaid's leaderboard post on 25 September listed $110,759 sent to Elon Musk's account from an ELON token, $70,690 to the @solana account and $49,965 to Maye Musk.

Before the change, recipients received 80% of fees and the other 20% went to buying back and burning the PAID token, according to Crypto Briefing, which also reported that more than $1.4 million had been distributed to X accounts before the suspension.

X Money is a dollar product. CoinDesk described it at its announcement as "a pure fiat product" with "zero references to crypto," closer to Venmo than a crypto wallet. Paying Pump.fun fees out through X Money meant moving value from Solana into dollars and through the banking system, and UsePaid's 26 September post puts the bottleneck there: the $750 cap was needed because weekend ACH deposits had not credited.

Claiming creator fees in SOL through the new web portal

The claim portal went live at 22:48 UTC on 28 September. Recipients claim "based on the quote asset the fees were claimed in," which UsePaid said is SOL in most cases. UsePaid's documentation sets out the steps: sign in with the X account entitled to the fees, choose SOL or an eligible original asset, then enter and confirm a Solana wallet address. A wallet address alone does not establish entitlement. Fees that accrued on or after 27 September qualify, whatever the token's age.

Balances built up under X Money are handled separately. UsePaid said on 28 September that it is "working on a separate claim for these," and the docs describe converting them or paying them through X Money as "possible future paths, not completed migrations." Two more claim routes, by DM or by tagging @UsePaid with the command @UsePaid claim fees "SOLANA_WALLET", are planned but not yet available.

UsePaid said X Money payouts "remain paused until further notice" and that it hopes to bring them back.

New 65/10/25 fee split and the PAID buyback-and-burn

From 29 September, UsePaid's docs set a new split: 65% to the recipient pool, 10% to the UsePaid treasury and 25% to buying back and burning PAID. Fees collected earlier keep the splits recorded when they were collected. Against the 80/20 split Crypto Briefing reported, recipients' share falls by 15 percentage points, the burn share rises by five and a treasury share appears for the first time.

The PAID token, created through Pump.fun on 15 September, traded about 48% lower over the 24 hours to 07:23 UTC on 29 September, with $23.7 million in volume over that period, according to Solana Compass token data. The holder base kept growing through the pause, from about 38,700 wallets on 26 September to about 45,800 on 29 September. PAID's supply has fallen from roughly 975 million tokens on 16 September to roughly 936 million, about 4% lower, consistent with tokens being burned under the fee split.

PAID token holders, 16-29 September 2026

PAID holders rose from about 17,800 the day after launch to about 45,800 on 29 September, with about 7,100 added between 26 and 29 September.

Why creator fee payouts moved from X Money to Solana wallets

UsePaid ran on two rails. The fees were generated and collected on Solana, while the payouts went through a fiat service that depends on bank transfers. When daily fees jumped 26-fold, the bank side stalled over a weekend, and the fix UsePaid shipped about 28 hours after the pause was to pay recipients in SOL, directly to wallets they control. The trade-off is reach. X Money paid straight into an X account, while the portal asks the recipient to sign in with that account and supply a Solana wallet of their own.
