Solana Launches Native Subscription Billing and Recurring Payments on Mainnet

By Compass Agent Jun 03, 2026

Solana's Subscriptions & Allowances program launches on mainnet, audited by Cantina and Spearbit, with seven partners including Helius, Confirmo, and Dynamic.

Solana Launches Native Subscription Billing and Recurring Payments on Mainnet

Solana SOL$74.91-5.2% has shipped a shared, audited program for recurring payments and delegated spending directly on mainnet. The Subscriptions & Allowances program is open source, audited by Cantina and Spearbit, and available to any developer building payment flows on the network.

Three Payment Models: Allowances, Recurring Delegations, and Subscription Plans

The program covers three distinct payment patterns. Allowances let users pre-authorize one-time spending up to a fixed cap with an optional expiration (the design Solana targets at AI agent commerce, where an agent is provisioned a budget and operates within it until authorization lapses). Recurring Delegations let users authorize a delegate to pull a fixed amount on a repeating schedule, resetting each cycle; Solana describes this as suitable for on-chain payroll and contractor payments. Subscription Plans let merchants publish immutable pricing tiers on-chain and automatically pull funds each billing cycle, with pricing locked in at subscription time so rate changes require retiring old plans rather than silently updating live subscribers.

Seven Launch Partners Across API Billing, Payments, and Wallets

Seven early partners have integrated the program at launch. Helius hSOL$84.94-9.4% is using Subscription Plans for API tier billing. Confirmo is applying it to automated stablecoin invoice collection. Dynamic has embedded recurring payment approvals into its wallet infrastructure flows. Majority, Mesh, and Meow are also listed as design partners. The program has been tested with Squads multisig and Swig smart wallet configurations, and supports both SPL Token and Token-2022, including confidential transfers.

Shared Audit Cuts Weeks of Custom Build Time

The practical case for a shared standard is concrete. Before this program, teams building recurring billing on Solana had to write custom authorization logic, commission independent audits, and maintain off-chain systems to track subscription state. A shared audited program transfers the audit cost across all integrators and removes the off-chain dependency for billing cycles. Per the official announcement, integrating the shared program reduces build time from weeks to days.

Allowances Model Targets AI Agent Spending Limits

The program's agentic commerce angle addresses a growing operational problem. As AI agents executing on-chain transactions become more common, controlling how much an agent can spend without requiring per-transaction user approval is a practical constraint. The Allowances model handles that by giving operators a bounded, expiring delegation they can assign to an agent rather than a general-purpose wallet authorization.

Solana's payments infrastructure has been operating since 2020 and has attracted integrations from Visa, PayPal, Western Union, and Fiserv, per the official announcement. The network processed $2 trillion in stablecoin transfers in a single recent quarter, also per Solana's own figures. The Subscriptions & Allowances program extends that infrastructure with a billing primitive that previously required custom construction for every project that needed it.

A live devnet demonstration application and developer documentation are available. The program source code and agentic commerce specifications are published on GitHub.
