Nasdaq-listed Solana Company (HSDT) has been named a strategic enterprise by Hong Kong's Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises (OASES), the company announced on 22 October 2026. The digital asset treasury and staking company says it has established a Hong Kong office as the headquarters for its Asia-Pacific executive team, and that it will set up Solana SOL$103.60-4.2% validator operations in the city under its Pacific Backbone initiative.

Solana Company joins the seventh batch of OASES partners, 18 firms that the Hong Kong government announced the same day. The company describes itself as "the only blockchain infrastructure company onboarded by OASES in 2026." The Standard's list of the cohort names the firm simply as "Solana (United States)", alongside AGIBOT and 51World from the Chinese mainland, Switzerland's Valcambi and South Korea's AITRICS.

What Solana Company Plans in Hong Kong

The HSDT release makes two concrete commitments: a Hong Kong office that is now the company's Asia-Pacific base, and future validator operations in the city. Validators are the computers that process Solana transactions and vote on blocks, and their operators earn staking rewards for doing it. The release gives no date for the Hong Kong validators, no hardware count, and no figure for how much stake they will run.

Chairman and CEO Joseph Chee framed Hong Kong as the hub for the company's advisory and infrastructure work across the region.

In the same release, Chee said Solana Company would explore "how digital asset infrastructure can contribute to Hong Kong's financial institutions." Solana Company links the designation to Hong Kong's stated goal of a "world-leading licensing and regulatory regime for digital assets", its Stablecoins Ordinance and Project Ensemble, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority's tokenization initiative.

Hong Kong Is the Next Pacific Backbone Node After Tokyo

Hong Kong was on the Pacific Backbone map from the start. When Solana Company unveiled the plan in February 2026, The Block reported it as a high-speed, low-latency validator network "initially starting with connections between Seoul, Tokyo, Singapore, and Hong Kong." The plan puts Solana Company's validators in Asian financial centres, physically close to the institutions and traders it wants to serve in that time zone.

Tokyo came first. Solana Company's second-quarter results release on 14 August 2026 said the company had "built out the Company's first institutional validator cluster in Tokyo under the Pacific Backbone initiative" and had agreed a partnership with the Jito Foundation, the organisation behind Jito JTO$0.456-6.5%. The same release reported $2.5 million of Q2 staking revenue and 31.2 thousand SOL in staking rewards, which the company restaked. We covered those results, and the Tokyo launch, in our Q2 report on HSDT.

Once its validators run, Hong Kong would be the second Pacific Backbone city in operation. Any Hong Kong node joins a network of 676 validators securing about 440 million staked SOL in epoch 1064, which began on 21 October 2026, according to Solana Compass's network stake data.

What OASES Strategic Enterprise Status Means

OASES is a government office, set up in 2022, that recruits companies Hong Kong wants in its priority industries. The government release puts the total at 142 firms after this batch, with cumulative investment of about HK$84 billion and about 26,700 jobs. Financial Secretary Paul Chan said the first six batches beat their investment expectations by 30% and job creation expectations by 34%.

OASES Director-General Peter Yan told RTHK on 18 October that firms are picked for how well they fit the government's industrial policy: "We don't pick these firms based on things like their size, how much they're investing in Hong Kong, or how many jobs they create." Yan said each firm submits a five-year plan with investment amounts, employment targets and an initial flagship project, and some government subsidies depend on meeting those targets.

The HSDT release does not disclose Solana Company's five-year plan, any investment figure, or any subsidy. On the public record, the designation is a working relationship with the Hong Kong government and a commitment to build there, with the validator rollout still to come.

What to Watch Next for HSDT's Hong Kong Validators

The open questions are practical: the date the first Hong Kong validator goes live, the amount of stake it carries, and whether the validator cluster is the flagship project in Solana Company's OASES plan. Solana Company's next quarterly results are the likeliest place for those details.
